Mat 19:1 ויהי ככלות ישוע לדבר את הדברים האלה ויסע מן־הגליל ויבא אל־גבול יהודה בעבר הירדן׃
Mat 19:2 וילכו אחריו המון עם־רב וירפאם שם׃
Mat 19:3 ויגשו אליו הפרושים לנסותו ויאמרו היוכל איש לשלח את־אשתו על־כל־דבר׃
Mat 19:4 ויען ויאמר אליהם הלא קראתם כי מראש היצר זכר ונקבה ברא אתם׃
Mat 19:5 ואמר על־כן יעזב־איש את־אביו ואת־אמו ודבק באשתו והיו שניהם לבשר אחד׃
Mat 19:6 אם־כן אינם עוד שנים כי אם־בשר אחד לכן את אשר חבר האלהים אל־יפרד האדם׃
Mat 19:7 ויאמרו אליו ולמה זה צוה משה לתת־לה ספר כריתת ולשלחה׃
Mat 19:8 ויאמר אליהם מפני קשי לבבכם הניח לכם משה לשלח את־נשיכם ומראש לא היה הדבר כן׃
Mat 19:9 ואני אמר לכם המשלח את־אשתו שלא על־דבר זנות ונשא אחרת נאף הוא (והנשא את־הגרושה נאף הוא)׃
Mat 19:10 ויאמרו אליו התלמידים אם־זה משפט האיש את־אשתו לא טוב לקחת אשה׃
Mat 19:11 ויאמר אליהם לא יוכל כל־אדם קבל את־הדבר הזה כי־אם אלה אשר־נתן להם׃
Mat 19:12 יש סריסים אשר נולדו כן מבטן אמם ויש סריסים המסרסים על־ידי אדם ויש סריסים אשר סרסו עצמם למען מלכות השמים מי שיוכל לקבל יקבל׃
Mat 19:13 אז יביאו אליו ילדים למען ישים עליהם את־ידיו ויתפלל ויגערו־בם התלמידים׃
Mat 19:14 וישוע אמר הניחו לילדים ואל־תמנעום מבוא אלי כי לאלה מלכות השמים׃
Mat 19:15 וישם את־ידיו עליהם ויעבר משם׃
Mat 19:16 והנה־איש נגש אליו ויאמר רבי (הטוב) מה הטוב אשר אעשה ואקנה חיי עולם׃
Mat 19:17 ויאמר אליו מה־זה תשאלני על־הטוב אין־טוב כי אם־אחד והוא האלהים ואם־חפצך לבוא לחיים שמר את־המצות׃
Mat 19:18 ויאמר אליו מה הנה ויאמר ישוע אלה הן לא תרצח לא תנאף לא תגנב לא תענה עד שקר׃
Mat 19:19 כבד את־אביך ואת־אימך ואהבת לרעך כמוך׃
Mat 19:20 ויאמר אליו הבחור את־כל־אלה שמרתי מנעורי ומה חסרתי עוד׃
Mat 19:21 ויאמר ישוע אליו אם־חפצך להיות שלם לך מכר את־רכשך ונתת לעניים והיה לך אוצר בשמים ושוב הלם והלכת אחרי׃
Mat 19:22 ויהי כשמע הבחור את־הדבר הזה ויתעצב וילך כי נכסים רבים היו לו׃
Mat 19:23 ויאמר ישוע אל־תלמידיו אמן אמר אני לכם קשה לעשיר לבוא אל־מלכות השמים׃
Mat 19:24 ועוד אני אמר לכם נקל לגמל לעבר בנקב המחט מבא עשיר אל־מלכות האלהים׃
Mat 19:25 והתלמידים כשמעם זאת השתוממו מאד ויאמרו מי אפוא יוכל להושע׃
Mat 19:26 ויבט־בם ישוע ויאמר להם מבני אדם יפלא הדבר ומהאלהים לא יפלא כל־דבר׃
Mat 19:27 ויען פטרוס ויאמר אליו הן אנחנו עזבנו את־הכל ונלך אחריך ומה־יהיה חלקנו׃
Mat 19:28 ויאמר ישוע אליהם אמן אמר אני לכם אתם ההלכים אחרי בהתחדש הבריאה כאשר ישב בן־האדם על־כסא כבודו גם־אתם תשבו על־שנים עשר כסאות לשפט את־שנים עשר שבטי ישראל׃
Mat 19:29 וכל־איש אשר עזב בתים ואחים ואחיות ואב ואם ואשת ובנים ושדות למען שמי הוא יקח מאה שערים וחיי עולם יירש׃
Mat 19:30 ואולם רבים מן־הראשונים יהיו אחרונים ומן־האחרונים ראשונים׃
Mat 20:1 כי דומה מלכות השמים לאיש בעל־בית אשר השכים בבקר ויצא לשכר פעלים לכרמו׃
Mat 20:2 ויפסק עם הפעלים דינר ליום וישלחם אל־כרמו׃
Mat 20:3 ויצא בשעה השלישית וירא אחרים עמדים בטלים בשוק׃
Mat 20:4 ויאמר להם לכו גם־אתם אל־כרמי ואני אתן לכם כמשפט וילכו׃
Mat 20:5 ויצא גם בשעה הששית גם בתשיעית ויעש כדבר הזה׃
Mat 20:6 ויצא בשעת עשתי עשרה וימצא אחרים עמדים ויאמר אליהם למה אתם עמדים פה בטלים כל־היום׃
Mat 20:7 ויאמרו לו כי לא־שכר אותנו איש ויאמר אליהם לכו גם־אתם אל־הכרם ושכרכם יתן לכם׃
Mat 20:8 ויהי בערב ויאמר בעל הכרם אל־פקידו קרא את־הפעלים ותן להם את־שכרם החל באחרונים וכלה בראשונים׃
Mat 20:9 ויבאו הנשכרים בשעת אחת עשרה ויקחו איש איש דינר אחד׃
Mat 20:10 ובבא הראשונים דמו בנפשם כי יקחו יותר ויקחו גם־הם איש איש דינר אחד׃
Mat 20:11 ויהי בקחתם וילונו על־בעל הבית לאמר׃
Mat 20:12 אלה האחרונים לא עשו כי אם־שעה אחת ואתה השוית אתם לנו אשר סבלנו את־טרח היום וחמו׃
Mat 20:13 ויען ויאמר אל־אחד מהם רעי לא הוניתי אתך הלא דינר פסקת עמי׃
Mat 20:14 קח את־שלך ולך ואני רצוני שאתן לזה האחרון כמוך׃
Mat 20:15 הלא אוכל לעשות בשלי כרצוני האם־תרע עינך על־אשר טוב אני׃
Mat 20:16 כן יהיו האחרונים ראשונים והראשונים יהיו אחרונים (כי־רבים הם הקרואים ומעטים הנבחרים)׃
Mat 20:17 ויהי כעלות ישוע ירושלים ויקח אליו את־שנים העשר לבדם ויאמר להם בדרך׃
Mat 20:18 הננו עלים ירושלימה ובן־האדם ימסר לראשי הכהנים ולסופרים והרשיעהו למות׃
Mat 20:19 ומסרו אותו לגוים להתל בו ולהכות אותו בשוטים ולצלב אותו וביום השלישי יקום׃
Mat 20:20 אז נגשה אליו אם בני זבדי עם־בניה ותשתחו לו לבקש ממנו דבר׃
Mat 20:21 ויאמר אליה מה־בקשתך ותאמר אליו אמר־נא וישבו שני־בני האלה אחד לימינך ואחד לשמאלך במלכותך׃
Mat 20:22 ויען ישוע ויאמר לא ידעתם את אשר שאלתם היכל תוכלו לשתות את־הכוס אשר אני עתיד לשתותו ולהטבל טבילה אשר אני נטבל ויאמרו אליו נוכל׃
Mat 20:23 ויאמר אליהם הן את־כוסי תשתו (וטבילה אשר אני נטבל תטבלו) ושבת לימיני ולשמאלי אין בידי לתתה בלתי לאשר הוכן להם מאת אבי׃
Mat 20:24 ויהי כאשר שמעו־זאת העשרה ויכעסו אל־שני האחים׃
Mat 20:25 וישוע קרא להם ויאמר אתם ידעתם כי־שרי הגוים רדים בהם והגדולים שלטים עליהם׃
Mat 20:26 ואתם אל־יהי כן ביניכם כי החפץ להיות גדול בקרבכם יהי לכם למשרת׃
Mat 20:27 והחפץ להיות לראש בקרבכם יהי לכם עבד׃
Mat 20:28 כאשר בן־האדם לא בא למען אשר־ישרתוהו כי אם־לשרת ולתת את־נפשו כפר תחת רבים׃
Mat 20:29 ויהי כצאתם מיריחו וילך אחריו המון עם־רב׃
Mat 20:30 והנה שני־עורים ישבים על־יד הדרך וישמעו כי ישוע עבר ויצעקו לאמר חננו־נא אדנינו בן־דוד׃
Mat 20:31 ויגער־בם העם להחשתם והם צעקו עוד ויאמרו אדנינו חננו־נא בן־דוד׃
Mat 20:32 ויעמד ישוע ויקרא להם ויאמר מה־תרצו שאעשה לכם׃
Mat 20:33 ויאמרו אליו אדנינו אשר תפקחנה עינינו׃
Mat 20:34 ורחמי ישוע נכמרו ויגע בעיניהם ופתאם נפקחו עיניהם וילכו אחריו׃

Mat 19:1 And it came to be, when יהושע had ended these words, that He left Galil and came to the borders of Yehuḏah beyond the Yardĕn.
Mat 19:2 And large crowds followed Him, and He healed them there.
Mat 19:3 And the Pharisees came to Him, trying Him, and saying to Him, “Is it right for a man to put away his wife for every reason?”
Mat 19:4 And He answering, said to them, “Did you not read that He who made them at the beginning made them male and female,
Mat 19:5 and said, ‘For this cause a man shall leave his father and mother and cleave to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’?
Mat 19:6 “So that they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore, what Elohim has joined together, let man not separate.”
Mat 19:7 They said to Him, “Why then did Moshe command to give a certificate of divorce, and to put her away?”
Mat 19:8 He said to them, “Because of the hardness of your hearts, Moshe allowed you to put away your wives, but from the beginning it was not so.
Mat 19:9 “And I say to you, whoever puts away his wife, except on the ground of whoring, and marries another, commits adultery.1 And whoever marries her who has been put away commits adultery.”1
Mat 19:10 His talmidim said to Him, “If such is the case of the man with his wife, it is good not to marry.”
Mat 19:11 And He said to them, “Not all receive this word, but only those to whom it has been given,
Mat 19:12 for there are eunuchs, who were so born from their mother’s womb, and there are eunuchs who were made eunuchs by men, and there are eunuchs who have made themselves eunuchs for the sake of the reign of the heavens. He who is able to receive it, let him receive it.”
Mat 19:13 Then young children were brought to Him to lay His hands on them and pray, and the talmidim rebuked them.
Mat 19:14 But יהושע said, “Allow the young children and do not stop them from coming to Me, for of such is the reign of the heavens.”
Mat 19:15 And having laid hands on them He went from there.
Mat 19:16 And see, one came and said to Him, “Good Teacher, what good shall I do to have everlasting life?”
Mat 19:17 And He said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good except One – Elohim. But if you wish to enter into life, guard the mitzvot.”1 Footnote:1See Lk. 10:28, John 12:50, Rev. 22:14.
Mat 19:18 He said to Him, “Which?” And יהושע said, “ ‘You shall not murder,’ ‘You shall not commit adultery,’ ‘You shall not steal,’ ‘You shall not bear false witness,’
Mat 19:19 ‘Respect your father and your mother,’ and ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ ”
Mat 19:20 The young man said to Him, “All these I have watched over from my youth, what do I still lack?”
Mat 19:21 יהושע said to him, “If you wish to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven. And come, follow Me.”
Mat 19:22 And when the young man heard the word, he went away sad, because he had many possessions.
Mat 19:23 And יהושע said to His talmidim, “Truly, I say to you that it is hard for a rich man to enter into the reign of the heavens.
Mat 19:24 And again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter into the reign of Elohim.”
Mat 19:25 And when His talmidim heard it, they were very astonished, saying, “Who then is able to be saved?”
Mat 19:26 And looking intently יהושע said to them, “With men this is impossible, but with Elohim all is possible.”
Mat 19:27 Then Kĕpha answering, said to Him, “See, we have left all and followed You. What then shall we have?”
Mat 19:28 And יהושע said to them, “Truly I say to you, when the Son of Aḏam sits on the throne of His esteem, you who have followed Me in the rebirth, shall also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Yisra’ĕl.
Mat 19:29 “And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My Name’s sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.
Mat 19:30 “But many who are first shall be last, and the last first.
Mat 20:1 “For the reign of the heavens is like a man, a householder who went out early in the morning to hire workers for his vineyard.
Mat 20:2 “And when he had agreed with the workers for a silver piece a day, he sent them into his vineyard.
Mat 20:3 “And he went out about the third hour and saw others standing idle in the market-place,
Mat 20:4 and said to them, ‘You too go into the vineyard, and whatever is right I shall give you.’ And they went.
Mat 20:5 “Having gone out again about the sixth and the ninth hour, he did likewise.
Mat 20:6 “And about the eleventh hour, having gone out, he found others standing idle, and said to them, ‘Why do you stand here idle all day?’
Mat 20:7 “They said to him, ‘Because no one hired us.’ He said to them, ‘You too go into the vineyard, and whatever is right you shall receive.’
Mat 20:8 “And when evening came, the master of the vineyard said to his manager, ‘Call the workers and pay them their wages, beginning with the last to the first.’
Mat 20:9 “And when those came who were hired about the eleventh hour, they each received a silver piece.
Mat 20:10 “And when the first came, they thought they would receive more. But they too received each a silver piece.
Mat 20:11 “And when they received it, they grumbled against the householder,
Mat 20:12 saying, ‘These last have worked only one hour, and you made them equal to us who have borne the burden and the heat of the day.’
Mat 20:13 “But he answering, said to one of them, ‘Friend, I do you no wrong. Did you not agree with me for a silver piece?
Mat 20:14 ‘Take yours and go. But I wish to give to this last man as also to you.
Mat 20:15 ‘Is it not right for me to do what I wish with my own? Or is your eye evil because I am good?’
Mat 20:16 “Thus the last shall be first, and the first last. For many are called, but few chosen.”1 Footnote:1See 22:14.
Mat 20:17 And יהושע, going up to Yerushalayim, took the twelve talmidim aside on the way and said to them,
Mat 20:18 “See, we are going up to Yerushalayim, and the Son of Aḏam shall be delivered up to the chief Kohanim and to the scribes. And they shall condemn Him to death,
Mat 20:19 and deliver Him to the gentiles to mock and to flog and to impale. And the third day He shall be raised.”
Mat 20:20 Then the mother of the sons of Zaḇdai came to Him with her sons, bowing down and making a request of Him.
Mat 20:21 And He said to her, “What do you wish?” She said to Him, “Command that these two sons of mine might sit, one on Your right hand and the other on the left, in Your reign.”
Mat 20:22 But יהושע answering, said, “You do not know what you ask. Are you able to drink the cup that I am about to drink, and to be immersed with the immersion that I am immersed with?” They said to Him, “We are able.”
Mat 20:23 And He said to them, “You shall indeed drink My cup, and you shall be immersed with the immersion that I am immersed with.1 But to sit on My right hand and on My left is not Mine to give, but it is for those for whom it has been prepared by My Father.” Footnote:1See Mark 10:39 and Luke 12:50.
Mat 20:24 And when the ten heard it, they were displeased at the two brothers.
Mat 20:25 But יהושע called them near and said, “You know that the rulers of the gentiles are masters over them, and those who are great exercise authority over them.
Mat 20:26 “But it shall not be so among you, but whoever wishes to become great among you, let him be your slave.
Mat 20:27 “And whoever wishes to be first among you, let him be your slave,
Mat 20:28 even as the Son of Aḏam did not come to be served, but to serve,1 and to give His life as a ransom for many.” Footnote:1See Mark 10:45 and Isa. 49:1-7.
Mat 20:29 And as they were leaving Yeriḥo, a large crowd followed Him.
Mat 20:30 And see, two blind men sitting by the way, having heard that יהושע was passing by, cried out, saying, “Have compassion on us, O Master, Son of Dawiḏ!”
Mat 20:31 And the crowd rebuked them that they should be silent, but they cried out all the more, saying, “Have compassion on us, O Master, Son of Dawiḏ!”
Mat 20:32 And יהושע stopped and called them, and said, “What do you wish Me to do for you?”
Mat 20:33 They said to Him, “Master, that our eyes be opened.”
Mat 20:34 And having been moved with compassion, יהושע touched their eyes. And immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed Him.

Amo 2:6 כה אמר יהוה על־שׁלשׁה פשׁעי ישׂראל ועל־ארבעה לא אשׁיבנו על־מכרם בכסף צדיק ואביון בעבור נעלים׃
Amo 2:7 השׁאפים על־עפר־ארץ בראשׁ דלים ודרך ענוים יטו ואישׁ ואביו ילכו אל־הנערה למען חלל את־שׁם קדשׁי׃
Amo 2:8 ועל־בגדים חבלים יטו אצל כל־מזבח ויין ענושׁים ישׁתו בית אלהיהם׃
Amo 2:9 ואנכי השׁמדתי את־האמרי מפניהם אשׁר כגבה ארזים גבהו וחסן הוא כאלונים ואשׁמיד פריו ממעל ושׁרשׁיו מתחת׃
Amo 2:10 ואנכי העליתי אתכם מארץ מצרים ואולך אתכם במדבר ארבעים שׁנה לרשׁת את־ארץ האמרי׃
Amo 2:11 ואקים מבניכם לנביאים ומבחוריכם לנזרים האף אין־זאת בני ישׂראל נאם־יהוה׃
Amo 2:12 ותשׁקו את־הנזרים יין ועל־הנביאים צויתם לאמר לא תנבאו׃
Amo 2:13 הנה אנכי מעיק תחתיכם כאשׁר תעיק העגלה המלאה לה עמיר׃
Amo 2:14 ואבד מנוס מקל וחזק לא־יאמץ כחו וגבור לא־ימלט נפשׁו׃

Amo 3:1 שׁמעו את־הדבר הזה אשׁר דבר יהוה עליכם בני ישׂראל על כל־המשׁפחה אשׁר העליתי מארץ מצרים לאמר׃
Amo 3:2 רק אתכם ידעתי מכל משׁפחות האדמה על־כן אפקד עליכם את כל־עונתיכם׃

Amo 2:6 Thus said יהוה, “For three transgressions of Yisra’ĕl, and for four, I do not turn it back, because they sell the righteous for silver, and the poor for a pair of sandals,
Amo 2:7 who crush the head of the poor ones in the dust of the earth, and turn aside the way of the meek. And a man and his father go in to the same girl, to defile My kadosh Name.
Amo 2:8 “And they lie down by every altar on garments taken in pledge, and in the house of their El they drink the wine of those who have been fined.
Amo 2:9 “Yet I destroyed the Amorite before them, whose height was like the height of the cedars. And he was as strong as the oaks, yet I destroyed his fruit from above and his roots from beneath.
Amo 2:10 “And I brought you up from the land of Mitsrayim, and led you forty years through the wilderness, to possess the land of the Amorite.
Amo 2:11 “And I raised up some of your sons as nevi’im, and some of your young men as Nazirites. Not so? O you children of Yisra’ĕl?” declares יהוה.
Amo 2:12 “But you made the Nazirites drink wine, and commanded the nevi’im saying, ‘Do not prophesy!’
Amo 2:13 “See, I am weighed down by you, as a wagon is weighed down when filled with sheaves.
Amo 2:14 “And a place to flee shall perish from the swift, and the strong not strengthen his power, and the mighty not save his life,
Amo 2:15 and he who handles the bow not stand, and the swift of foot not save, nor he who rides a horse save his life,
Amo 2:16 and the bravest among the mighty flee naked, in that day,” declares יהוה.
Amo 3:1 Hear this word that יהוה has spoken against you, O children of Yisra’ĕl, against the entire clan which I brought up from the land of Mitsrayim, saying,
Amo 3:2 “You alone have I known of all the clans of the earth, therefore I punish you for all your crookednesses.”
Amo 3:3 Would two walk together, without having met?
Amo 3:4 Does a lion roar in the forest, when he has no prey? Does a young lion give forth his voice out of his den unless he has caught?
Amo 3:5 Does a bird fall into a snare on the earth, where there is no trap for it? Does a snare spring up from the earth, if it has not captured prey?
Amo 3:6 If a shofar is blown in a city, do the people not tremble? If there is calamity in a city, shall not יהוה have done it?
Amo 3:7 For the Master יהוה does no matter unless He reveals His secret to His servants the nevi’im.
Amo 3:8 A lion has roared! Who is not afraid? The Master יהוה has spoken! Who would not prophesy?

B’reisheet 37:1 וישׁב יעקב בארץ מגורי אביו בארץ כנען׃
B’reisheet 37:2 אלה תלדות יעקב יוסף בן־שׁבע־עשׂרה שׁנה היה רעה את־אחיו בצאן והוא נער את־בני בלהה ואת־בני זלפה נשׁי אביו ויבא יוסף את־דבתם רעה אל־אביהם׃
B’reisheet 37:3 וישׂראל אהב את־יוסף מכל־בניו כי־בן־זקנים הוא לו ועשׂה לו כתנת פסים׃
B’reisheet 37:4 ויראו אחיו כי־אתו אהב אביהם מכל־אחיו וישׂנאו אתו ולא יכלו דברו לשׁלם׃
B’reisheet 37:5 ויחלם יוסף חלום ויגד לאחיו ויוספו עוד שׂנא אתו׃
B’reisheet 37:6 ויאמר אליהם שׁמעו־נא החלום הזה אשׁר חלמתי׃

B’reisheet 37:20 ועתה לכו ונהרגהו ונשׁלכהו באחד הברות ואמרנו חיה רעה אכלתהו ונראה מה־יהיו חלמתיו׃
B’reisheet 37:21 וישׁמע ראובן ויצלהו מידם ויאמר לא נכנו נפשׁ׃
B’reisheet 37:22 ויאמר אלהם ראובן אל־תשׁפכו־דם השׁליכו אתו אל־הבור הזה אשׁר במדבר ויד אל־תשׁלחו־בו למען הציל אתו מידם להשׁיבו אל־אביו׃
B’reisheet 37:23 ויהי כאשׁר־בא יוסף אל־אחיו ויפשׁיטו את־יוסף את־כתנתו את־כתנת הפסים אשׁר עליו׃

B’reisheet 37:25 וישׁבו לאכל־לחם וישׂאו עיניהם ויראו והנה ארחת ישׁמעאלים באה מגלעד וגמליהם נשׂאים נכאת וצרי ולט הולכים להוריד מצרימה׃
B’reisheet 37:26 ויאמר יהודה אל־אחיו מה־בצע כי נהרג את־אחינו וכסינו את־דמו׃
B’reisheet 37:27 לכו ונמכרנו לישׁמעאלים וידנו אל־תהי־בו כי־אחינו בשׂרנו הוא וישׁמעו אחיו׃
B’reisheet 37:28 ויעברו אנשׁים מדינים סחרים וימשׁכו ויעלו את־יוסף מן־הבור וימכרו את־יוסף לישׁמעאלים בעשׂרים כסף ויביאו את־יוסף מצרימה׃
B’reisheet 37:29 וישׁב ראובן אל־הבור והנה אין־יוסף בבור ויקרע את־בגדיו׃
B’reisheet 37:30 וישׁב אל־אחיו ויאמר הילד איננו ואני אנה אני־בא׃
B’reisheet 37:31 ויקחו את־כתנת יוסף וישׁחטו שׂעיר עזים ויטבלו את־הכתנת בדם׃
B’reisheet 37:32 וישׁלחו את־כתנת הפסים ויביאו אל־אביהם ויאמרו זאת מצאנו הכר־נא הכתנת בנך הוא אם־לא׃

B’reisheet 37:34 ויקרע יעקב שׂמלתיו וישׂם שׂק במתניו ויתאבל על־בנו ימים רבים׃
B’reisheet 37:35 ויקמו כל־בניו וכל־בנתיו לנחמו וימאן להתנחם ויאמר כי־ארד אל־בני אבל שׁאלה ויבך אתו אביו׃

B’reisheet 38:9 וידע אונן כי לא לו יהיה הזרע והיה אם־בא אל־אשׁת אחיו ושׁחת ארצה לבלתי נתן־זרע לאחיו׃
B’reisheet 38:10 וירע בעיני יהוה אשׁר עשׂה וימת גם־אתו׃
B’reisheet 38:11 ויאמר יהודה לתמר כלתו שׁבי אלמנה בית־אביך עד־יגדל שׁלה בני כי אמר פן־ימות גם־הוא כאחיו ותלך תמר ותשׁב בית אביה׃
B’reisheet 38:12 וירבו הימים ותמת בת־שׁוע אשׁת־יהודה וינחם יהודה ויעל על־גזזי צאנו הוא וחירה רעהו העדלמי תמנתה׃
B’reisheet 38:13 ויגד לתמר לאמר הנה חמיך עלה תמנתה לגז צאנו׃
B’reisheet 38:14 ותסר בגדי אלמנותה מעליה ותכס בצעיף ותתעלף ותשׁב בפתח עינים אשׁר על־דרך תמנתה כי ראתה כי־גדל שׁלה והוא לא־נתנה לו לאשׁה׃
B’reisheet 38:15 ויראה יהודה ויחשׁבה לזונה כי כסתה פניה׃
B’reisheet 38:16 ויט אליה אל־הדרך ויאמר הבה־נא אבוא אליך כי לא ידע כי כלתו הוא ותאמר מה־תתן־לי כי תבוא אלי׃
B’reisheet 38:17 ויאמר אנכי אשׁלח גדי־עזים מן־הצאן ותאמר אם־תתן ערבון עד שׁלחך׃
B’reisheet 38:18 ויאמר מה הערבון אשׁר אתן־לך ותאמר חתמך ופתילך ומטך אשׁר בידך ויתן־לה ויבא אליה ותהר לו׃

B’reisheet 38:23 ויאמר יהודה תקח־לה פן נהיה לבוז הנה שׁלחתי הגדי הזה ואתה לא מצאתה׃
B’reisheet 38:24 ויהי כמשׁלשׁ חדשׁים ויגד ליהודה לאמר זנתה תמר כלתך וגם הנה הרה לזנונים ויאמר יהודה הוציאוה ותשׂרף׃
B’reisheet 38:25 הוא מוצאת והיא שׁלחה אל־חמיה לאמר לאישׁ אשׁר־אלה לו אנכי הרה ותאמר הכר־נא למי החתמת והפתילים והמטה האלה׃
B’reisheet 38:26 ויכר יהודה ויאמר צדקה ממני כי־על־כן לא־נתתיה לשׁלה בני ולא־יסף עוד לדעתה׃
B’reisheet 38:27 ויהי בעת לדתה והנה תאומים בבטנה׃
B’reisheet 38:28 ויהי בלדתה ויתן־יד ותקח המילדת ותקשׁר על־ידו שׁני לאמר זה יצא ראשׁנה׃
B’reisheet 38:29 ויהי כמשׁיב ידו והנה יצא אחיו ותאמר מה־פרצת עליך פרץ ויקרא שׁמו פרץ׃
B’reisheet 38:30 ואחר יצא אחיו אשׁר על־ידו השׁני ויקרא שׁמו זרח׃
B’reisheet 39:1 ויוסף הורד מצרימה ויקנהו פוטיפר סריס פרעה שׂר הטבחים אישׁ מצרי מיד הישׁמעאלים אשׁר הורדהו שׁמה׃
B’reisheet 39:2 ויהי יהוה את־יוסף ויהי אישׁ מצליח ויהי בבית אדניו המצרי׃
B’reisheet 39:3 וירא אדניו כי יהוה אתו וכל אשׁר־הוא עשׂה יהוה מצליח בידו׃
B’reisheet 39:4 וימצא יוסף חן בעיניו וישׁרת אתו ויפקדהו על־ביתו וכל־ישׁ־לו נתן בידו׃
B’reisheet 39:5 ויהי מאז הפקיד אתו בביתו ועל כל־אשׁר ישׁ־לו ויברך יהוה את־בית המצרי בגלל יוסף ויהי ברכת יהוה בכל־אשׁר ישׁ־לו בבית ובשׂדה׃
B’reisheet 39:6 ויעזב כל־אשׁר־לו ביד־יוסף ולא־ידע אתו מאומה כי אם־הלחם אשׁר־הוא אוכל ויהי יוסף יפה־תאר ויפה מראה׃
B’reisheet 39:7 ויהי אחר הדברים האלה ותשׂא אשׁת־אדניו את־עיניה אל־יוסף ותאמר שׁכבה עמי׃
B’reisheet 39:8 וימאן ויאמר אל־אשׁת אדניו הן אדני לא־ידע אתי מה־בבית וכל אשׁר־ישׁ־לו נתן בידי׃
B’reisheet 39:9 איננו גדול בבית הזה ממני ולא־חשׂך ממני מאומה כי אם־אותך באשׁר את־אשׁתו ואיך אעשׂה הרעה הגדלה הזאת וחטאתי לאלהים׃
B’reisheet 39:10 ויהי כדברה אל־יוסף יום יום ולא־שׁמע אליה לשׁכב אצלה להיות עמה׃
B’reisheet 39:11 ויהי כהיום הזה ויבא הביתה לעשׂות מלאכתו ואין אישׁ מאנשׁי הבית שׁם בבית׃
B’reisheet 39:12 ותתפשׂהו בבגדו לאמר שׁכבה עמי ויעזב בגדו בידה וינס ויצא החוצה׃
B’reisheet 39:13 ויהי כראותה כי־עזב בגדו בידה וינס החוצה׃
B’reisheet 39:14 ותקרא לאנשׁי ביתה ותאמר להם לאמר ראו הביא לנו אישׁ עברי לצחק בנו בא אלי לשׁכב עמי ואקרא בקול גדול׃
B’reisheet 39:15 ויהי כשׁמעו כי־הרימתי קולי ואקרא ויעזב בגדו אצלי וינס ויצא החוצה׃
B’reisheet 39:16 ותנח בגדו אצלה עד־בוא אדניו אל־ביתו׃
B’reisheet 39:17 ותדבר אליו כדברים האלה לאמר בא־אלי העבד העברי אשׁר־הבאת לנו לצחק בי׃

B’reisheet 39:19 ויהי כשׁמע אדניו את־דברי אשׁתו אשׁר דברה אליו לאמר כדברים האלה עשׂה לי עבדך ויחר אפו׃
B’reisheet 39:20 ויקח אדני יוסף אתו ויתנהו אל־בית הסהר מקום אשׁר־אסורי המלך אסורים ויהי־שׁם בבית הסהר׃
B’reisheet 39:21 ויהי יהוה את־יוסף ויט אליו חסד ויתן חנו בעיני שׂר בית־הסהר׃
B’reisheet 39:22 ויתן שׂר בית־הסהר ביד־יוסף את כל־האסירם אשׁר בבית הסהר ואת כל־אשׁר עשׂים שׁם הוא היה עשׂה׃
B’reisheet 39:23 אין שׂר בית־הסהר ראה את־כל־מאומה בידו באשׁר יהוה אתו ואשׁר־הוא עשׂה יהוה מצליח׃
B’reisheet 40:1 ויהי אחר הדברים האלה חטאו משׁקה מלך־מצרים והאפה לאדניהם למלך מצרים׃
B’reisheet 40:2 ויקצף פרעה על שׁני סריסיו על שׂר המשׁקים ועל שׂר האופים׃
B’reisheet 40:3 ויתן אתם במשׁמר בית שׂר הטבחים אל־בית הסהר מקום אשׁר יוסף אסור שׁם׃
B’reisheet 40:4 ויפקד שׂר הטבחים את־יוסף אתם וישׁרת אתם ויהיו ימים במשׁמר׃
B’reisheet 40:5 ויחלמו חלום שׁניהם אישׁ חלמו בלילה אחד אישׁ כפתרון חלמו המשׁקה והאפה אשׁר למלך מצרים אשׁר אסורים בבית הסהר׃
B’reisheet 40:6 ויבא אליהם יוסף בבקר וירא אתם והנם זעפים׃
B’reisheet 40:7 וישׁאל את־סריסי פרעה אשׁר אתו במשׁמר בית אדניו לאמר מדוע פניכם רעים היום׃
B’reisheet 40:8 ויאמרו אליו חלום חלמנו ופתר אין אתו ויאמר אלהם יוסף הלוא לאלהים פתרנים ספרו־נא לי׃
B’reisheet 40:9 ויספר שׂר־המשׁקים את־חלמו ליוסף ויאמר לו בחלומי והנה־גפן לפני׃
B’reisheet 40:10 ובגפן שׁלשׁה שׂריגם והוא כפרחת עלתה נצה הבשׁילו אשׁכלתיה ענבים׃
B’reisheet 40:11 וכוס פרעה בידי ואקח את־הענבים ואשׂחט אתם אל־כוס פרעה ואתן את־הכוס על־כף פרעה׃
B’reisheet 40:12 ויאמר לו יוסף זה פתרנו שׁלשׁת השׂרגים שׁלשׁת ימים הם׃
B’reisheet 40:13 בעוד שׁלשׁת ימים ישׂא פרעה את־ראשׁך והשׁיבך על־כנך ונתת כוס־פרעה בידו כמשׁפט הראשׁון אשׁר היית משׁקהו׃
B’reisheet 40:14 כי אם־זכרתני אתך כאשׁר ייטב לך ועשׂית־נא עמדי חסד והזכרתני אל־פרעה והוצאתני מן־הבית הזה׃
B’reisheet 40:15 כי־גנב גנבתי מארץ העברים וגם־פה לא־עשׂיתי מאומה כי־שׂמו אתי בבור׃
B’reisheet 40:16 וירא שׂר־האפים כי טוב פתר ויאמר אל־יוסף אף־אני בחלומי והנה שׁלשׁה סלי חרי על־ראשׁי׃
B’reisheet 40:17 ובסל העליון מכל מאכל פרעה מעשׂה אפה והעוף אכל אתם מן־הסל מעל ראשׁי׃
B’reisheet 40:18 ויען יוסף ויאמר זה פתרנו שׁלשׁת הסלים שׁלשׁת ימים הם׃
B’reisheet 40:19 בעוד שׁלשׁת ימים ישׂא פרעה את־ראשׁך מעליך ותלה אותך על־עץ ואכל העוף את־בשׂרך מעליך׃
B’reisheet 40:20 ויהי ביום השׁלישׁי יום הלדת את־פרעה ויעשׂ משׁתה לכל־עבדיו וישׂא את־ראשׁ שׂר המשׁקים ואת־ראשׁ שׂר האפים בתוך עבדיו׃
B’reisheet 40:21 וישׁב את־שׂר המשׁקים על־משׁקהו ויתן הכוס על־כף פרעה׃
B’reisheet 40:22 ואת שׂר האפים תלה כאשׁר פתר להם יוסף׃
B’reisheet 40:23 ולא־זכר שׂר־המשׁקים את־יוסף וישׁכחהו׃
B’reisheet 37:1 וישׁב יעקב בארץ מגורי אביו בארץ כנען׃
B’reisheet 37:2 אלה תלדות יעקב יוסף בן־שׁבע־עשׂרה שׁנה היה רעה את־אחיו בצאן והוא נער את־בני בלהה ואת־בני זלפה נשׁי אביו ויבא יוסף את־דבתם רעה אל־אביהם׃
B’reisheet 37:3 וישׂראל אהב את־יוסף מכל־בניו כי־בן־זקנים הוא לו ועשׂה לו כתנת פסים׃
B’reisheet 37:4 ויראו אחיו כי־אתו אהב אביהם מכל־אחיו וישׂנאו אתו ולא יכלו דברו לשׁלם׃
B’reisheet 37:5 ויחלם יוסף חלום ויגד לאחיו ויוספו עוד שׂנא אתו׃
B’reisheet 37:6 ויאמר אליהם שׁמעו־נא החלום הזה אשׁר חלמתי׃
B’reisheet 37:7 והנה אנחנו מאלמים אלמים בתוך השׂדה והנה קמה אלמתי וגם־נצבה והנה תסבינה אלמתיכם ותשׁתחוין לאלמתי׃
B’reisheet 37:8 ויאמרו לו אחיו המלך תמלך עלינו אם־משׁול תמשׁל בנו ויוספו עוד שׂנא אתו על־חלמתיו ועל־דבריו׃
B’reisheet 37:9 ויחלם עוד חלום אחר ויספר אתו לאחיו ויאמר הנה חלמתי חלום עוד והנה השׁמשׁ והירח ואחד עשׂר כוכבים משׁתחוים לי׃
B’reisheet 37:10 ויספר אל־אביו ואל־אחיו ויגער־בו אביו ויאמר לו מה החלום הזה אשׁר חלמת הבוא נבוא אני ואמך ואחיך להשׁתחות לך ארצה׃
B’reisheet 37:11 ויקנאו־בו אחיו ואביו שׁמר את־הדבר׃
B’reisheet 37:12 וילכו אחיו לרעות את־צאן אביהם בשׁכם׃
B’reisheet 37:13 ויאמר ישׂראל אל־יוסף הלוא אחיך רעים בשׁכם לכה ואשׁלחך אליהם ויאמר לו הנני׃
B’reisheet 37:14 ויאמר לו לך־נא ראה את־שׁלום אחיך ואת־שׁלום הצאן והשׁבני דבר וישׁלחהו מעמק חברון ויבא שׁכמה׃
B’reisheet 37:15 וימצאהו אישׁ והנה תעה בשׂדה וישׁאלהו האישׁ לאמר מה־תבקשׁ׃
B’reisheet 37:16 ויאמר את־אחי אנכי מבקשׁ הגידה־נא לי איפה הם רעים׃
B’reisheet 37:17 ויאמר האישׁ נסעו מזה כי שׁמעתי אמרים נלכה דתינה וילך יוסף אחר אחיו וימצאם בדתן׃
B’reisheet 37:18 ויראו אתו מרחק ובטרם יקרב אליהם ויתנכלו אתו להמיתו׃
B’reisheet 37:19 ויאמרו אישׁ אל־אחיו הנה בעל החלמות הלזה בא׃
B’reisheet 37:20 ועתה לכו ונהרגהו ונשׁלכהו באחד הברות ואמרנו חיה רעה אכלתהו ונראה מה־יהיו חלמתיו׃
B’reisheet 37:21 וישׁמע ראובן ויצלהו מידם ויאמר לא נכנו נפשׁ׃
B’reisheet 37:22 ויאמר אלהם ראובן אל־תשׁפכו־דם השׁליכו אתו אל־הבור הזה אשׁר במדבר ויד אל־תשׁלחו־בו למען הציל אתו מידם להשׁיבו אל־אביו׃
B’reisheet 37:23 ויהי כאשׁר־בא יוסף אל־אחיו ויפשׁיטו את־יוסף את־כתנתו את־כתנת הפסים אשׁר עליו׃
B’reisheet 37:24 ויקחהו וישׁלכו אתו הברה והבור רק אין בו מים׃
B’reisheet 37:25 וישׁבו לאכל־לחם וישׂאו עיניהם ויראו והנה ארחת ישׁמעאלים באה מגלעד וגמליהם נשׂאים נכאת וצרי ולט הולכים להוריד מצרימה׃
B’reisheet 37:26 ויאמר יהודה אל־אחיו מה־בצע כי נהרג את־אחינו וכסינו את־דמו׃
B’reisheet 37:27 לכו ונמכרנו לישׁמעאלים וידנו אל־תהי־בו כי־אחינו בשׂרנו הוא וישׁמעו אחיו׃
B’reisheet 37:28 ויעברו אנשׁים מדינים סחרים וימשׁכו ויעלו את־יוסף מן־הבור וימכרו את־יוסף לישׁמעאלים בעשׂרים כסף ויביאו את־יוסף מצרימה׃
B’reisheet 37:29 וישׁב ראובן אל־הבור והנה אין־יוסף בבור ויקרע את־בגדיו׃
B’reisheet 37:30 וישׁב אל־אחיו ויאמר הילד איננו ואני אנה אני־בא׃
B’reisheet 37:31 ויקחו את־כתנת יוסף וישׁחטו שׂעיר עזים ויטבלו את־הכתנת בדם׃
B’reisheet 37:32 וישׁלחו את־כתנת הפסים ויביאו אל־אביהם ויאמרו זאת מצאנו הכר־נא הכתנת בנך הוא אם־לא׃
B’reisheet 37:33 ויכירה ויאמר כתנת בני חיה רעה אכלתהו טרף טרף יוסף׃
B’reisheet 37:34 ויקרע יעקב שׂמלתיו וישׂם שׂק במתניו ויתאבל על־בנו ימים רבים׃
B’reisheet 37:35 ויקמו כל־בניו וכל־בנתיו לנחמו וימאן להתנחם ויאמר כי־ארד אל־בני אבל שׁאלה ויבך אתו אביו׃
B’reisheet 37:36 והמדנים מכרו אתו אל־מצרים לפוטיפר סריס פרעה שׂר הטבחים׃
B’reisheet 38:1 ויהי בעת ההוא וירד יהודה מאת אחיו ויט עד־אישׁ עדלמי ושׁמו חירה׃

B’reisheet 38:8 ויאמר יהודה לאונן בא אל־אשׁת אחיך ויבם אתה והקם זרע לאחיך׃
B’reisheet 38:9 וידע אונן כי לא לו יהיה הזרע והיה אם־בא אל־אשׁת אחיו ושׁחת ארצה לבלתי נתן־זרע לאחיו׃
B’reisheet 38:10 וירע בעיני יהוה אשׁר עשׂה וימת גם־אתו׃
B’reisheet 38:11 ויאמר יהודה לתמר כלתו שׁבי אלמנה בית־אביך עד־יגדל שׁלה בני כי אמר פן־ימות גם־הוא כאחיו ותלך תמר ותשׁב בית אביה׃
B’reisheet 38:12 וירבו הימים ותמת בת־שׁוע אשׁת־יהודה וינחם יהודה ויעל על־גזזי צאנו הוא וחירה רעהו העדלמי תמנתה׃
B’reisheet 38:13 ויגד לתמר לאמר הנה חמיך עלה תמנתה לגז צאנו׃
B’reisheet 38:14 ותסר בגדי אלמנותה מעליה ותכס בצעיף ותתעלף ותשׁב בפתח עינים אשׁר על־דרך תמנתה כי ראתה כי־גדל שׁלה והוא לא־נתנה לו לאשׁה׃
B’reisheet 38:15 ויראה יהודה ויחשׁבה לזונה כי כסתה פניה׃
B’reisheet 38:16 ויט אליה אל־הדרך ויאמר הבה־נא אבוא אליך כי לא ידע כי כלתו הוא ותאמר מה־תתן־לי כי תבוא אלי׃
B’reisheet 38:17 ויאמר אנכי אשׁלח גדי־עזים מן־הצאן ותאמר אם־תתן ערבון עד שׁלחך׃
B’reisheet 38:18 ויאמר מה הערבון אשׁר אתן־לך ותאמר חתמך ופתילך ומטך אשׁר בידך ויתן־לה ויבא אליה ותהר לו׃

B’reisheet 38:23 ויאמר יהודה תקח־לה פן נהיה לבוז הנה שׁלחתי הגדי הזה ואתה לא מצאתה׃
B’reisheet 38:24 ויהי כמשׁלשׁ חדשׁים ויגד ליהודה לאמר זנתה תמר כלתך וגם הנה הרה לזנונים ויאמר יהודה הוציאוה ותשׂרף׃
B’reisheet 38:25 הוא מוצאת והיא שׁלחה אל־חמיה לאמר לאישׁ אשׁר־אלה לו אנכי הרה ותאמר הכר־נא למי החתמת והפתילים והמטה האלה׃
B’reisheet 38:26 ויכר יהודה ויאמר צדקה ממני כי־על־כן לא־נתתיה לשׁלה בני ולא־יסף עוד לדעתה׃
B’reisheet 38:27 ויהי בעת לדתה והנה תאומים בבטנה׃
B’reisheet 38:28 ויהי בלדתה ויתן־יד ותקח המילדת ותקשׁר על־ידו שׁני לאמר זה יצא ראשׁנה׃
B’reisheet 38:29 ויהי כמשׁיב ידו והנה יצא אחיו ותאמר מה־פרצת עליך פרץ ויקרא שׁמו פרץ׃
B’reisheet 38:30 ואחר יצא אחיו אשׁר על־ידו השׁני ויקרא שׁמו זרח׃
B’reisheet 39:1 ויוסף הורד מצרימה ויקנהו פוטיפר סריס פרעה שׂר הטבחים אישׁ מצרי מיד הישׁמעאלים אשׁר הורדהו שׁמה׃
B’reisheet 39:2 ויהי יהוה את־יוסף ויהי אישׁ מצליח ויהי בבית אדניו המצרי׃
B’reisheet 39:3 וירא אדניו כי יהוה אתו וכל אשׁר־הוא עשׂה יהוה מצליח בידו׃
B’reisheet 39:4 וימצא יוסף חן בעיניו וישׁרת אתו ויפקדהו על־ביתו וכל־ישׁ־לו נתן בידו׃

B’reisheet 39:7 ויהי אחר הדברים האלה ותשׂא אשׁת־אדניו את־עיניה אל־יוסף ותאמר שׁכבה עמי׃
B’reisheet 39:8 וימאן ויאמר אל־אשׁת אדניו הן אדני לא־ידע אתי מה־בבית וכל אשׁר־ישׁ־לו נתן בידי׃
B’reisheet 39:9 איננו גדול בבית הזה ממני ולא־חשׂך ממני מאומה כי אם־אותך באשׁר את־אשׁתו ואיך אעשׂה הרעה הגדלה הזאת וחטאתי לאלהים׃
B’reisheet 39:10 ויהי כדברה אל־יוסף יום יום ולא־שׁמע אליה לשׁכב אצלה להיות עמה׃
B’reisheet 39:11 ויהי כהיום הזה ויבא הביתה לעשׂות מלאכתו ואין אישׁ מאנשׁי הבית שׁם בבית׃
B’reisheet 39:12 ותתפשׂהו בבגדו לאמר שׁכבה עמי ויעזב בגדו בידה וינס ויצא החוצה׃

B’reisheet 37:1 And Ya`akov̱ dwelt in the land of his father’s sojournings, in the land of Kenaʽan. B’reisheet 37:2 This is the genealogy of Ya`akov̱. Yosĕph, being seventeen years old, was feeding the flock with his brothers. And the young man was with the sons of Bilhah and the sons of Zilpah, his father’s wives. And Yosĕph brought an evil report of them to his father.
B’reisheet 37:3 And Yisra’ĕl loved Yosĕph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age. And he made him a long robe.
B’reisheet 37:4 But when his brothers saw that their father loved him more than all his brothers, they hated him and were not able to speak peaceably to him.
B’reisheet 37:5 And Yosĕph dreamed a dream, and told it to his brothers. So they hated him even more.
B’reisheet 37:6 And he said to them, “Please listen to this dream which I have dreamed:
B’reisheet 37:7 “See, we were binding sheaves in the midst of the field, and see, my sheaf rose up and also stood up. And see, your sheaves stood all around and bowed down to my sheaf.”
B’reisheet 37:8 And his brothers said to him, “Shall you indeed reign over us? Shall you indeed rule over us?” So they hated him even more for his dreams and for his words.
B’reisheet 37:9 And he dreamed still another dream and related it to his brothers, and said, “See, I have dreamed another dream, and see, the sun and the moon and the eleven stars bowed down to me.”
B’reisheet 37:10 And he related it to his father and his brothers. And his father rebuked him and said to him, “What is this dream that you have dreamed? Shall we, your mother and I and your brothers, indeed come to bow down to the earth before you?”
B’reisheet 37:11 And his brothers envied him, but his father guarded the word.
B’reisheet 37:12 And his brothers went to feed their father’s flock in Sheḵem.
B’reisheet 37:13 And Yisra’ĕl said to Yosĕph, “Are not your brothers feeding the flock in Sheḵem? Come, I send you to them.” So he said to him, “Here I am.”
B’reisheet 37:14 And he said to him, “Please go and see if it is well with your brothers and well with the sheep, and bring back word to me.” So he sent him out of the Valley of Ḥeḇron, and he went to Sheḵem.
B’reisheet 37:15 And a certain man found him, and see, he was wandering in the field. And the man asked him, saying, “What do you seek?”
B’reisheet 37:16 And he said, “I am seeking my brothers. Please inform me where they are feeding their sheep.”
B’reisheet 37:17 And the man said, “They have left here, for I heard them say, ‘Let us go towards Dothan.’ ” So Yosĕph went after his brothers and found them in Dothan.
B’reisheet 37:18 And they saw him from a distance, and before he came near them, they plotted against him, to kill him.
B’reisheet 37:19 And they said to each other, “See, this master of dreams is coming!
B’reisheet 37:20 “Now, then, come and let us now kill him and throw him into some pit, and shall say, ‘Some wild beast has devoured him.’ Let us then see what comes of his dreams!”
B’reisheet 37:21 But Re’uḇĕn heard and rescued him from their hands, and said, “Let us not take his life.”
B’reisheet 37:22 And Re’uḇĕn said to them, “Shed no blood. Throw him into this pit which is in the wilderness, and do not lay a hand on him” – in order to rescue him out of their hands, and bring him back to his father.
B’reisheet 37:23 So it came to be, when Yosĕph had come to his brothers, that they stripped Yosĕph of his robe, the long robe which was on him.
B’reisheet 37:24 And they took him and threw him into a pit. And the pit was empty, there was no water in it.
B’reisheet 37:25 And they sat down to eat a meal. And they lifted their eyes and looked and saw a company of Yishmaʽĕlites, coming from Gilʽaḏ with their camels, bearing spices, and balm, and myrrh, going to take them down to Mitsrayim.
B’reisheet 37:26 And Yehuḏah said to his brothers, “What would we gain if we kill our brother and conceal his blood?
B’reisheet 37:27 “Come and let us sell him to the Yishmaʽĕlites, and let not our hand be upon him, for he is our brother, our flesh.” And his brothers listened.
B’reisheet 37:28 And men, Miḏyanite traders passed by, so they pulled Yosĕph up and lifted him out of the pit, and sold him to the Yishmaʽĕlites for twenty pieces of silver. And they took Yosĕph to Mitsrayim.
B’reisheet 37:29 And Re’uḇĕn returned to the pit, and see, Yosĕph was not in the pit. And he tore his garments.
B’reisheet 37:30 And he returned to his brothers and said, “The boy is gone! And I, where am I to go?”
B’reisheet 37:31 So they took Yosĕph’s robe, killed a male goat, and dipped the robe in the blood,
B’reisheet 37:32 and sent the long robe and brought it to their father and said, “We have found this. Please look, is it the robe of your son or not?”
B’reisheet 37:33 And he recognized it and said, “It is my son’s robe. An evil beast has devoured him. Yosĕph is torn, torn to pieces.”
B’reisheet 37:34 And Ya`akov̱ tore his garments, and put sackcloth on his waist, and mourned for his son many days.
B’reisheet 37:35 And all his sons and all his daughters arose to comfort him, but he refused to be comforted, and he said, “Now let me go down into the grave to my son in mourning.” So his father wept for him.
B’reisheet 37:36 And the Miḏanites had sold him in Mitsrayim to Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh and captain of the guard.
B’reisheet 38:1 And at that time it came to be that Yehuḏah left his brothers, and turned aside to a man, an Aḏullamite whose name was Ḥirah.
B’reisheet 38:2 And Yehuḏah saw there a daughter of a certain Kenaʽanite whose name was Shuwa. And he took her and went in to her.
B’reisheet 38:3 So she conceived and bore a son, and he called his name Ěr.
B’reisheet 38:4 And she conceived again and bore a son, and she called his name Onan.
B’reisheet 38:5 And she conceived yet again and bore a son, and called his name Shĕlah. And he was at Keziḇ when she bore him.
B’reisheet 38:6 And Yehuḏah took a wife for Ěr his first-born, and her name was Tamar.
B’reisheet 38:7 But Ěr, Yehuḏah’s first-born, was evil in the eyes of יהוה, and יהוה took his life.
B’reisheet 38:8 And Yehuḏah said to Onan, “Go in to your brother’s wife and marry her, and raise up an heir to your brother.”
B’reisheet 38:9 And Onan knew that the offspring would not be his. And it came to be, when he went in to his brother’s wife, that he spilled on the ground, lest he should give an offspring to his brother.
B’reisheet 38:10 But what he did displeased יהוה, so He took his life too.
B’reisheet 38:11 Then Yehuḏah said to Tamar his daughter-in-law, “Remain a widow in your father’s house until my son Shĕlah is grown.” For he said, “Lest he also die as his brothers did.” And Tamar went and dwelt in her father’s house.
B’reisheet 38:12 And after a long time the daughter of Shuwa, Yehuḏah’s wife, died. And Yehuḏah was comforted, and went up to his sheep-shearers at Timnah, he and his friend Ḥirah the Aḏullamite.
B’reisheet 38:13 And it was reported to Tamar, saying, “See, your father-in-law is going up to Timnah to shear his sheep.”
B’reisheet 38:14 And she took off her widow’s garments, and covered herself with a veil and wrapped herself, and sat at the entrance to Ěnayim which was on the way to Timnah. For she saw that Shĕlah was grown, and she was not given to him as a wife.
B’reisheet 38:15 And Yehuḏah saw her, and reckoned her for a whore, for she had covered her face.
B’reisheet 38:16 And he turned aside to her by the way, and said, “Please let me come in to you,” for he did not know that she was his daughter-in-law. And she said, “What do you give me to come in to me?”
B’reisheet 38:17 And he said, “Let me send you a young goat from the flock.” And she said, “Do you give me a pledge until you send it?”
B’reisheet 38:18 So he said, “What pledge should I give you?” And she said, “Your seal and your cord and your staff that is in your hand.” And he gave them to her, and went in to her, and she conceived by him.
B’reisheet 38:19 And she arose and went away, and removed her veil and put on the garments of her widowhood.
B’reisheet 38:20 And Yehuḏah sent the young goat by the hand of his friend the Aḏullamite, to receive his pledge from the woman’s hand, but he did not find her.
B’reisheet 38:21 And he asked the men of that place, saying, “Where is the cult prostitute who was beside the way to Ěnayim?” And they said, “There was no cult prostitute in this place.”
B’reisheet 38:22 And he returned to Yehuḏah and said, “I have not found her. And the men of the place also said there was no cult prostitute in this place.”
B’reisheet 38:23 And Yehuḏah said, “Let her take them for herself, lest we become despised, for I sent this young goat and you have not found her.”
B’reisheet 38:24 And it came to be, about three months after, that Yehuḏah was informed, saying, “Tamar your daughter-in-law has whored, and see, she has conceived by whoring.” And Yehuḏah said, “Bring her out and let her be burned!”
B’reisheet 38:25 When she was brought out, she sent to her father-in-law, saying, “By the man to whom these belong, I am pregnant.” And she said, “Please examine whose these are: the seal and the cord and the staff.”
B’reisheet 38:26 And Yehuḏah examined and said, “She has been more righteous than I, because I did not give her to Shĕlah my son.” And he never knew her again.
B’reisheet 38:27 And it came to be, at the time for giving birth, that see, twins were in her womb.
B’reisheet 38:28 And it came to be, when she was giving birth, that the one put out his hand. And the midwife took a scarlet thread and bound it on his hand, saying, “This one came out first.”
B’reisheet 38:29 And it came to be, as he drew back his hand, that see, his brother came out! And she said, “How did you break through? This breach be upon you!” So his name was called Perets.
B’reisheet 38:30 And afterward his brother came out who had the scarlet thread on his hand. So his name was called Zeraḥ.
B’reisheet 39:1 And Yosĕph had been taken down to Mitsrayim. And Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh, captain of the guard, a Mitsrite, bought him from the Yishmaʽĕlites who had taken him down there.
B’reisheet 39:2 And it came to be that יהוה was with Yosĕph, and he became a prosperous man, and was in the house of his master the Mitsrite.
B’reisheet 39:3 And his master saw that יהוה was with him and that יהוה made all he did to prosper in his hand.
B’reisheet 39:4 So Yosĕph found favor in his eyes, and served him, and he appointed him over his house, and gave into his hand all that he had.
B’reisheet 39:5 And it came to be, from the time that he appointed him over his house and all that he had, that יהוה blessed the Mitsrite’s house for Yosĕph’s sake. And the blessing of יהוה was on all that he had in the house and in the field.
B’reisheet 39:6 And he left in Yosĕph’s hand all that he had, and he did not know what he had except for the bread which he ate. And Yosĕph was handsome in form and appearance.
B’reisheet 39:7 And after these events it came to be that his master’s wife lifted up her eyes to Yosĕph and said, “Lie with me.”
B’reisheet 39:8 But he refused and said to his master’s wife, “Look, my master does not know what is with me in the house, and he has given into my hand all that he has.
B’reisheet 39:9 “No one is greater in this house than I, and he has not withheld whatever from me but you, because you are his wife. And how shall I do this great evil and sin against Elohim?”
B’reisheet 39:10 And it came to be, as she spoke to Yosĕph day by day, that he did not listen to her, to lie with her, to be with her.
B’reisheet 39:11 And it came to be on a certain day, when Yosĕph went into the house to do his work, and none of the men of the house was inside,
B’reisheet 39:12 that she caught him by his garment, saying, “Lie with me.” But he left his garment in her hand, and fled and ran outside.
B’reisheet 39:13 And it came to be, when she saw that he had left his garment in her hand and fled outside,
B’reisheet 39:14 that she called to the men of her house and spoke to them, saying, “See, he has brought in to us a Heḇrew to mock us. He came in to me to lie with me, and I cried out with a loud voice.
B’reisheet 39:15 “And it came to be, when he heard that I lifted my voice and cried out, that he left his garment with me, and fled and went outside.”
B’reisheet 39:16 And she kept his garment with her until his master came home.
B’reisheet 39:17 And she spoke to him these same words, saying, “The Heḇrew slave whom you brought to us came in to me, to mock me,
B’reisheet 39:18 so it came to be, as I lifted my voice and cried out, that he left his garment with me and fled outside.”
B’reisheet 39:19 And it came to be, when his master heard the words which his wife spoke to him, saying, “Your slave did to me according to these words,” that his displeasure burned.
B’reisheet 39:20 Then Yosĕph’s master took him and put him into the prison, a place where the sovereign’s prisoners were confined. And he was there in the prison.
B’reisheet 39:21 But יהוה was with Yosĕph and extended kindness to him, and He gave him favor in the eyes of the prison warden.
B’reisheet 39:22 And the prison warden gave into the hand of Yosĕph all the prisoners who were in the prison, and whatever was done there was his doing.
B’reisheet 39:23 The prison warden did not look into any point that was under Yosĕph’s hand, because יהוה was with him. And whatever he did, יהוה made it prosper.
B’reisheet 40:1 And after these events it came to be that the cupbearer and the baker of the sovereign of Mitsrayim sinned against their master, the sovereign of Mitsrayim.
B’reisheet 40:2 And Pharaoh was wroth with his two officers, the chief cupbearer and the chief baker.
B’reisheet 40:3 So he put them in confinement in the house of the captain of the guard, in the prison, the place where Yosĕph was a prisoner.
B’reisheet 40:4 And the captain of the guard put Yosĕph in charge of them, and he served them. So they were in confinement for some time.
B’reisheet 40:5 Then the cupbearer and the baker of the sovereign of Mitsrayim, who were confined in the prison, dreamed a dream, both of them, each man’s dream in one night and each man’s dream with its own interpretation.
B’reisheet 40:6 And Yosĕph came in to them in the morning and looked at them and saw that they were sad.
B’reisheet 40:7 And he asked Pharaoh’s officers who were with him in confinement of his master’s house, saying, “Why do you look so sad today?”
B’reisheet 40:8 And they said to him, “We each have dreamed a dream, and there is no one to interpret it.” And Yosĕph said to them, “Do not interpretations belong to Elohim? Relate them to me, please.”
B’reisheet 40:9 So the chief cupbearer related his dream to Yosĕph, and said to him, “See, in my dream a vine was before me,
B’reisheet 40:10 and in the vine were three branches, and it was as though it budded – its blossoms shot forth, and its clusters brought forth ripe grapes.
B’reisheet 40:11 “And Pharaoh’s cup was in my hand. So I took the grapes and pressed them into Pharaoh’s cup, and placed the cup in Pharaoh’s hand.”
B’reisheet 40:12 And Yosĕph said to him, “This is the interpretation of it: The three branches are three days.
B’reisheet 40:13 “Yet, within three days Pharaoh is going to lift up your head and restore you to your place, and you shall put Pharaoh’s cup in his hand according to the former ruling, when you were his cupbearer.
B’reisheet 40:14 “But remember me when it is well with you, and please show kindness to me. And mention me to Pharaoh, and get me out of this house.
B’reisheet 40:15 “For truly I was stolen away from the land of the Heḇrews. And also I have done naught that they should put me into the dungeon.”
B’reisheet 40:16 And the chief baker saw that the interpretation was good, and he said to Yosĕph, “I also was in my dream and saw three white baskets were on my head,
B’reisheet 40:17 and in the uppermost basket all kinds of baked goods for Pharaoh, and the birds ate them out of the basket on my head.”
B’reisheet 40:18 And Yosĕph answered and said, “This is the interpretation of it: The three baskets are three days.
B’reisheet 40:19 “Yet, within three days Pharaoh is going to lift off your head from you and hang you on a tree. And the birds shall eat your flesh from you.”
B’reisheet 40:20 And on the third day, Pharaoh’s birthday, it came to be that he made a feast for all his servants. And he lifted up the head of the chief cupbearer and of the chief baker among his servants,
B’reisheet 40:21 and he restored the chief cupbearer to his post of cupbearer again, and he placed the cup in Pharaoh’s hand,
B’reisheet 40:22 but he hanged the chief baker, as Yosĕph had interpreted to them.
B’reisheet 40:23 And the chief cupbearer did not remember Yosĕph, but forgot him.
B’reisheet 37:1 And Ya`akov̱ dwelt in the land of his father’s sojournings, in the land of Kenaʽan. B’reisheet 37:2 This is the genealogy of Ya`akov̱. Yosĕph, being seventeen years old, was feeding the flock with his brothers. And the young man was with the sons of Bilhah and the sons of Zilpah, his father’s wives. And Yosĕph brought an evil report of them to his father.
B’reisheet 37:3 And Yisra’ĕl loved Yosĕph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age. And he made him a long robe.
B’reisheet 37:4 But when his brothers saw that their father loved him more than all his brothers, they hated him and were not able to speak peaceably to him.
B’reisheet 37:5 And Yosĕph dreamed a dream, and told it to his brothers. So they hated him even more.
B’reisheet 37:6 And he said to them, “Please listen to this dream which I have dreamed:
B’reisheet 37:7 “See, we were binding sheaves in the midst of the field, and see, my sheaf rose up and also stood up. And see, your sheaves stood all around and bowed down to my sheaf.”
B’reisheet 37:8 And his brothers said to him, “Shall you indeed reign over us? Shall you indeed rule over us?” So they hated him even more for his dreams and for his words.

B’reisheet 39:3 And his master saw that יהוה was with him and that יהוה made all he did to prosper in his hand.
B’reisheet 39:4 So Yosĕph found favor in his eyes, and served him, and he appointed him over his house, and gave into his hand all that he had.
B’reisheet 39:5 And it came to be, from the time that he appointed him over his house and all that he had, that יהוה blessed the Mitsrite’s house for Yosĕph’s sake. And the blessing of יהוה was on all that he had in the house and in the field.
B’reisheet 39:6 And he left in Yosĕph’s hand all that he had, and he did not know what he had except for the bread which he ate. And Yosĕph was handsome in form and appearance.
B’reisheet 39:7 And after these events it came to be that his master’s wife lifted up her eyes to Yosĕph and said, “Lie with me.”
B’reisheet 39:8 But he refused and said to his master’s wife, “Look, my master does not know what is with me in the house, and he has given into my hand all that he has.
B’reisheet 39:9 “No one is greater in this house than I, and he has not withheld whatever from me but you, because you are his wife. And how shall I do this great evil and sin against Elohim?”
B’reisheet 39:10 And it came to be, as she spoke to Yosĕph day by day, that he did not listen to her, to lie with her, to be with her.
B’reisheet 39:11 And it came to be on a certain day, when Yosĕph went into the house to do his work, and none of the men of the house was inside,
B’reisheet 39:12 that she caught him by his garment, saying, “Lie with me.” But he left his garment in her hand, and fled and ran outside.
B’reisheet 39:13 And it came to be, when she saw that he had left his garment in her hand and fled outside,
B’reisheet 39:14 that she called to the men of her house and spoke to them, saying, “See, he has brought in to us a Heḇrew to mock us. He came in to me to lie with me, and I cried out with a loud voice.
B’reisheet 39:15 “And it came to be, when he heard that I lifted my voice and cried out, that he left his garment with me, and fled and went outside.”
B’reisheet 39:16 And she kept his garment with her until his master came home.
B’reisheet 39:17 And she spoke to him these same words, saying, “The Heḇrew slave whom you brought to us came in to me, to mock me,
B’reisheet 39:18 so it came to be, as I lifted my voice and cried out, that he left his garment with me and fled outside.”
B’reisheet 39:19 And it came to be, when his master heard the words which his wife spoke to him, saying, “Your slave did to me according to these words,” that his displeasure burned.
B’reisheet 39:20 Then Yosĕph’s master took him and put him into the prison, a place where the sovereign’s prisoners were confined. And he was there in the prison.
B’reisheet 39:21 But יהוה was with Yosĕph and extended kindness to him, and He gave him favor in the eyes of the prison warden.
B’reisheet 39:22 And the prison warden gave into the hand of Yosĕph all the prisoners who were in the prison, and whatever was done there was his doing.
B’reisheet 39:23 The prison warden did not look into any point that was under Yosĕph’s hand, because יהוה was with him. And whatever he did, יהוה made it prosper.
B’reisheet 40:1 And after these events it came to be that the cupbearer and the baker of the sovereign of Mitsrayim sinned against their master, the sovereign of Mitsrayim.
B’reisheet 40:2 And Pharaoh was wroth with his two officers, the chief cupbearer and the chief baker.
B’reisheet 40:3 So he put them in confinement in the house of the captain of the guard, in the prison, the place where Yosĕph was a prisoner.
B’reisheet 40:4 And the captain of the guard put Yosĕph in charge of them, and he served them. So they were in confinement for some time.
B’reisheet 40:5 Then the cupbearer and the baker of the sovereign of Mitsrayim, who were confined in the prison, dreamed a dream, both of them, each man’s dream in one night and each man’s dream with its own interpretation.
B’reisheet 40:6 And Yosĕph came in to them in the morning and looked at them and saw that they were sad.
B’reisheet 40:7 And he asked Pharaoh’s officers who were with him in confinement of his master’s house, saying, “Why do you look so sad today?”
B’reisheet 40:8 And they said to him, “We each have dreamed a dream, and there is no one to interpret it.” And Yosĕph said to them, “Do not interpretations belong to Elohim? Relate them to me, please.”
B’reisheet 40:9 So the chief cupbearer related his dream to Yosĕph, and said to him, “See, in my dream a vine was before me,
B’reisheet 40:10 and in the vine were three branches, and it was as though it budded – its blossoms shot forth, and its clusters brought forth ripe grapes.
B’reisheet 40:11 “And Pharaoh’s cup was in my hand. So I took the grapes and pressed them into Pharaoh’s cup, and placed the cup in Pharaoh’s hand.”
B’reisheet 40:12 And Yosĕph said to him, “This is the interpretation of it: The three branches are three days.
B’reisheet 40:13 “Yet, within three days Pharaoh is going to lift up your head and restore you to your place, and you shall put Pharaoh’s cup in his hand according to the former ruling, when you were his cupbearer.
B’reisheet 40:14 “But remember me when it is well with you, and please show kindness to me. And mention me to Pharaoh, and get me out of this house.
B’reisheet 40:15 “For truly I was stolen away from the land of the Heḇrews. And also I have done naught that they should put me into the dungeon.”
B’reisheet 40:16 And the chief baker saw that the interpretation was good, and he said to Yosĕph, “I also was in my dream and saw three white baskets were on my head,
B’reisheet 40:17 and in the uppermost basket all kinds of baked goods for Pharaoh, and the birds ate them out of the basket on my head.”
B’reisheet 40:18 And Yosĕph answered and said, “This is the interpretation of it: The three baskets are three days.
B’reisheet 40:19 “Yet, within three days Pharaoh is going to lift off your head from you and hang you on a tree. And the birds shall eat your flesh from you.”
B’reisheet 40:20 And on the third day, Pharaoh’s birthday, it came to be that he made a feast for all his servants. And he lifted up the head of the chief cupbearer and of the chief baker among his servants,
B’reisheet 40:21 and he restored the chief cupbearer to his post of cupbearer again, and he placed the cup in Pharaoh’s hand,
B’reisheet 40:22 but he hanged the chief baker, as Yosĕph had interpreted to them.
B’reisheet 40:23 And the chief cupbearer did not remember Yosĕph, but forgot him.
