Mat 5:1 ויהי כראותו את־המון העם ויעל ההרה וישב שם ויגשו אליו תלמידיו׃
Mat 5:2 ויפתח את־פיו ויורם ויאמר׃
Mat 5:3 אשרי עניי הרוח כי להם מלכות השמים׃
Mat 5:4 אשרי האבלים כי־הם ינחמו׃
Mat 5:5 אשרי הענוים כי־המה יירשו ארץ׃
Mat 5:6 אשרי הרעבים והצמאים לצדקה כי־הם ישבעו׃
Mat 5:7 אשרי הרחמנים כי־הם ירחמו׃
Mat 5:8 אשרי ברי לבב כי־הם יחזו את־האלהים׃
Mat 5:9 אשרי רדפי שלום כי־בני אלהים יקרא להם׃
Mat 5:10 אשרי הנרדפים בגלל הצדקה כי להם מלכות השמים׃
Mat 5:11 אשריכם כי־יחרפו ורדפו אתכם ודברו עליכם בשקר כל־רע בעבורי׃
Mat 5:12 שמחו וגילו כי שכרכם רב בשמים כי־כן רדפו את־הנביאים אשר היו לפניכם׃
Mat 5:13 אתם מלח הארץ ואם־המלח היה תפל במה ימלח הן לא־יצלח עוד לכל כי אם־להשליך חוצה והיה מרמס לבני אדם׃
Mat 5:14 אתם אורו של־עולם עיר ישבת על־ההר לא תסתר׃
Mat 5:15 גם אין מדליקים נר לשום אותו תחת האיפה כי אם־על־המנורה להאיר לכל־אשר בבית׃
Mat 5:16 כן יאר אורכם לפני בני האדם למען יראו מעשיכם הטובים ושבחו את־אביכם שבשמים׃
Mat 5:17 אל־תדמו כי באתי להפר את־התורה או את־דברי הנביאים לא באתי להפר כי אם־למלאת׃
Mat 5:18 כי אמן אמר אני לכם עד כי־יעברו השמים והארץ לא תעבר יוד אחת או־קוץ אחד מן־התורה עד אשר יקים הכל׃
Mat 5:19 לכן האיש אשר יפר אחת מן־המצות הקטנות האלה וילמד את־בני האדם לעשות כמוהו קטון יקרא לו במלכות השמים ואשר יעשה וילמד אותן לזה גדול יקרא במלכות השמים׃
Mat 5:20 כי אני אמר לכם אם לא־תהיה צדקתכם מרבה מצדקת הסופרים והפרושים לא תבאו במלכות השמים׃
Mat 5:21 הלא שמעתם כי נאמר לראשנים לא תרצח ואשר ירצח חיב הוא לבית דין׃
Mat 5:22 ואני אמר לכם כל־אשר יקצף על־אחיו חנם חיב הוא לבית דין ואשר יאמר אל־אחיו רקא חיב הוא לסנהדרין ואשר נבל יקרא לו הוא מחיב אש גיהנם׃
Mat 5:23 לכן אם־תקריב קרבנך אל־המזבח וזכרת כי־יש לאחיך דבר ריב עמך׃
Mat 5:24 הנח שם את־קרבנך לפני המזבח ולך כפר את־פני אחיך ואחרי כן בוא הקרב את־קרבנך׃
Mat 5:25 מהר התרצה לאיש ריבך בעודך בדרך אתו פן־יסגירך איש ריבך אל־השפט והשפט יסגירך לשוטר והשלכת אל־בית הכלא׃
Mat 5:26 אמן אמר אני לך לא תצא משם עד אם־שלמת את־הפרוטה האחרונה׃
Mat 5:27 שמעתם כי נאמר לראשנים לא תנאף׃
Mat 5:28 ואני אמר לכם כל־המסתכל באשה לחמד אותה נאף נאפה בלבו׃
Mat 5:29 ואם תכשילך עין ימינך נקר אותה והשלך ממך כי טוב לך אשר יאבד אחד מאבריך מרדת כל־גופך אל־גיהנם׃
Mat 5:30 ואם־ידך הימנית תכשילך קצץ אותה והשלך ממך כי טוב לך אשר יאבד אחד מאבריך מרדת כל־גופך אל־גיהנם׃
Mat 5:31 ונאמר איש כי ישלח את־אשתו ונתן לה ספר כריתות׃
Mat 5:32 ואני אמר לכם המשלח את־אשתו בלתי על־דבר זנות מביאה לידי נאפים והלקח את־הגרושה לו לאשה נאף הוא׃
Mat 5:33 עוד שמעתם כי נאמר לראשנים לא תשבע לשקר ושלם ליהוה שבעותיך׃
Mat 5:34 ואני אמר לכם לא תשבעו כל־שבועה לא בשמים כי־כסא אלהים המה׃
Mat 5:35 ולא בארץ כי־הדום רגליו היא ולא בירושלים כי־היא קרית מלך רב׃
Mat 5:36 אף בחיי ראשך אל־תשבע כי־לא תוכל להפך שערה אחת ללבנה או לשחרה׃
Mat 5:37 אך־יהי דברכם הן הן לא לא והיותר על אלה מן־הרע הוא׃
Mat 5:38 שמעתם כי נאמר עין תחת עין שן תחת שן׃
Mat 5:39 ואני אמר לכם אל־תתקוממו לרשע והמכה אותך על־הלחי הימנית הטה־לו גם את־האחרת׃
Mat 5:40 ואשר יחפץ לריב עמך ולקחת את־כתנתך תן־לו גם את־המעיל׃
Mat 5:41 והאנס אותך ללכת עמו דרך מיל לך אתו שנים׃
Mat 5:42 השאל מאתך תן־לו והבא ללות ממך אל־תשב פניו׃
Mat 5:43 שמעתם כי נאמר ואהבת לרעך ושנאת את־איבך׃
Mat 5:44 ואני אמר לכם אהבו את־איביכם (ברכו את־מקלליכם היטיבו לשנאיכם) והתפללו בעד (מכאיביכם ו) רדפיכם׃
Mat 5:45 למען תהיו בנים לאביכם שבשמים אשר הוא מזריח שמשו לרעים ולטובים וממטיר על־הצדיקים וגם על־הרשעים׃
Mat 5:46 כי אם־תאהבו את־אהביכם מה־שכרכם הלא גם־המכסים יעשו־זאת׃
Mat 5:47 ואם־תשאלו לשלום אחיכם בלבד מה־שבחכם הלא גם־המכסים יעשו־זאת׃
Mat 5:48 לכן היו שלמים כאשר אביכם שבשמים שלם הוא׃
Mat 6:1 השמרו לכם מעשות צדקתכם לפני בני אדם להראות להם כי אם־כן אין־לכם שכר מאת אביכם שבשמים׃
Mat 6:2 לכן בעשותך צדקה אל־תריע לפניך בשופר כאשר יעשו החנפים בבתי כנסיות וברחבות למען יהללו אותם האנשים אמן אמר אני לכם המה נשאו את שכרם׃
Mat 6:3 ואתה בעשותך צדקה אל־תדע שמאלך את אשר עשה ימינך׃
Mat 6:4 למען תהיה צדקתך בסתר ואביך הראה במסתרים הוא (בגלוי) יגמלך׃
Mat 6:5 וכי תתפלל אל־תהי כחנפים האהבים להתפלל בעמדם בבתי כנסיות ובפנות השוקים למען יראו לבני אדם אמן אמר אני לכם המה נשאו את שכרם׃
Mat 6:6 ואתה כי תתפלל בוא בחדרך וסגר דלתך בעדך והתפלל אל־אביך אשר בסתר ואביך הראה במסתרים הוא (בגלוי) יגמלך׃
Mat 6:7 ובהתפללכם אל־תפטפטו כגוים האמרים בלבבם ברב דברינו נשמע׃
Mat 6:8 ואתם אל־תדמו להם כי יודע אביכם כל־צרככם בטרם תשאלו ממנו׃
Mat 6:9 לכן כה תתפללו אבינו שבשמים יתקדש שמך׃
Mat 6:10 תבא מלכותך יעשה רצונך כאשר בשמים גם בארץ׃
Mat 6:11 את־לחם חקנו תן־לנו היום׃
Mat 6:12 ומחל־לנו על־חבותינו כאשר מחלנו גם־אנחנו לחיבינו׃
Mat 6:13 ואל־תביאנו לידי נסיון כי אם־תחלצנו מן־הרע ((כי לך הממלכה והגבורה והתפארת לעולמי עולמים אמן))׃
Mat 6:14 כי אם־תמחלו לבני־אדם על־חטאתם ימחל גם־לכם אביכם שבשמים׃
Mat 6:15 ואם לא תמחלו לבני אדם גם־אביכם לא־ימחל לחטאתיכם׃
Mat 6:16 וכי תצומו אל־תהיו זעפים כחנפים המשנים את־פניהם להראות צמים לבני אדם אמן אמר אני לכם המה נשאו את־שכרם׃
Mat 6:17 ואתה כי תצום סוך את־ראשך ורחץ את־פניך׃
Mat 6:18 אשר לא־תראה צם לבני אדם כי אם־לאביך בסתר ואביך הראה במסתרים הוא (בגלוי) יגמלך׃
Mat 6:19 אל תאצרו לכם אוצרות בארץ אשר יאכלום שם סס ורקב וגנבים יחתרו וגנבו׃
Mat 6:20 אבל תאצרו לכם אוצרות בשמים אשר סס ורקב לא־יאכלום שם וגנבים לא יחתרו ולא יגנבו׃
Mat 6:21 כי במקום אשר־אוצרכם בו שם יהיה גם־לבבכם׃
Mat 6:22 נר הגוף העין ואם־עינך תמימה כל־גופך יאור׃
Mat 6:23 ואם־עינך רעה כל־גופך יחשך ואם יחשך האור אשר בקרבך מה־רב החשך׃
Mat 6:24 לא יוכל איש לעבד שני אדנים כי ישנא את־האחד ויאהב את האחר או ידבק באחד ויבזה את־האחר לא תוכלו עבוד את־האלהים ואת־הממון׃
Mat 6:25 על־כן אמר אני לכם אל תדאגו לנפשכם לאמר מה־נאכל ומה־נשתה ולגופכם לאמר מה־נלבש הלא הנפש היא יקרה מן־המזון והגוף יקר מן־המלבוש׃
Mat 6:26 הביטו אל־עוף השמים וראו הן לא יזרעו ולא יקצרו ולא יאספו לאסמים ואביכם שבשמים מכלכל אתם הלא אתם נעליתם עליהם מאד׃
Mat 6:27 ומי בכם בדאגתו יוכל להוסיף על־קומתו אמה אחת׃
Mat 6:28 וללבוש למה תדאגה התבוזנו־נא אל־שושני השדה הצמחות׃
Mat 6:29 לא יעמלו ולא יטוו ואני אמר לכם כי גם־שלמה בכל־הדרו לא־היה לבוש כאחת מהנה׃
Mat 6:30 ואם־ככה מלביש האלהים את־חציר השדה אשר היום צמח ומחר ישלך לתוך התנור אף כי־אתכם קטני אמונה׃
Mat 6:31 לכן אל־תדאגו לאמר מה־נאכל ומה־נשתה ומה־נלבש׃
Mat 6:32 כי את־כל־אלה מבקשים הגוים הלא ידע אביכם אשר בשמים כי צריכים אתם לכל־אלה׃
Mat 6:33 אך דרשו בראשונה את־מלכות אלהים ואת־צדקתו ונוסף לכם כל־אלה׃
Mat 6:34 לכן אל־תדאגו ליום מחר כי יום מחר הוא ידאג לו ודיה לצרה בשעתה׃
Mat 7:1 אל־תשפטו למען אשר לא תשפטו׃
Mat 7:2 כי במשפט אשר אתם שפטים תשפטו ובמדה אשר אתם מדדים ימד לכם׃
Mat 7:3 ולמה זה תראה את־הקיסם בעין אחיך ואל־הקורה אשר בעינך לא תביט׃
Mat 7:4 ואיך תאמר אל־אחיך הניחה לי ואסיר את־הקיסם מעינך והנה הקורה בעינך׃
Mat 7:5 החנף הסר בראשונה את־הקורה מעינך ואחרי כן ראה תראה להסיר את־הקיסם מעין אחיך׃
Mat 7:6 אל־תתנו את־הקדש לכלבים ואל־תשליכו פניניכם לפני החזירים פן־ירמסום ברגליהם ופנו וטרפו אתכם׃
Mat 7:7 שאלו וינתן לכם דרשו ותמצאו דפקו ויפתח לכם׃
Mat 7:8 כי כל־השאל יקבל והדרש ימצא והדפק יפתח לו׃
Mat 7:9 היש בכם איש אשר ישאל ממנו בנו לחם ונתן־לו אבן׃
Mat 7:10 וכי ישאל ממנו דג היתן־לו נחש׃
Mat 7:11 הן אתם הרעים ידעים לתת מתנות טבות לבניכם אף כי־אביכם שבשמים יתן אך־טוב לשאלים מאתו׃
Mat 7:12 לכן כל אשר תרצו שיעשו לכם בני האדם עשו להם גם־אתם כי־זאת התורה והנביאים׃
Mat 7:13 באו בפתח הצר כי רחב הפתח ומרוחת דרך האבדון ורבים אשר יבאו בו׃
Mat 7:14 וצר הפתח ומוצק דרך החיים ומעטים הם אשר ימצאוה׃
Mat 7:15 השמרו לכם מנביאי השקר הבאים אליכם בלבוש כבשים ובקרבם זאבים טרפים המה׃
Mat 7:16 הכר תכירו אותם בפרים היאספו ענבים מן־הקצים או תאנים מן־הברקנים׃
Mat 7:17 כן כל־עץ טוב עשה פרי טוב והנשחת עשה פרי רע׃
Mat 7:18 עץ טוב לא־יוכל עשות פרי רע ועץ נשחת לא יעשה פרי טוב׃
Mat 7:19 וכל־עץ אשר־לא יעשה פרי טוב יכרת וישלך באש׃
Mat 7:20 לכן בפרים תכירו אותם׃
Mat 7:21 לא כל־האמר לי אדני אדני יבוא במלכות השמים כי אם־העשה רצון אבי שבשמים׃
Mat 7:22 והיה ביום ההוא יאמרו רבים אלי אדני אדני הלא בשמך נבאנו ובשמך גרשנו שדים ובשמך עשינו נפלאות רבות׃
Mat 7:23 אז אענה־בם לאמר מעולם לא ידעתי אתכם סורו ממני פעלי און׃
Mat 7:24 לכן כל־השמע את־דברי אלה ועשה אתם אדמהו לאיש חכם אשר־בנה את־ביתו על־הצור׃
Mat 7:25 וירד הגשם וישטפו הנחלים וינשבו הרוחות ויגעו בבית ההוא ולא נפל כי יסד על־הצור׃
Mat 7:26 וכל־השמע את־דברי אלה ולא יעשה אתם ידמה לאיש בער אשר־בנה את־ביתו על־החול׃
Mat 7:27 וירד הגשם וישטפו הנחלים וינשבו הרוחות ויפגעו בבית ההוא ויפל ותהי מפלתו גדולה׃
Mat 7:28 ויהי ככלות ישוע לדבר את־הדברים האלה וישתומם המון העם על־תורתו׃
Mat 7:29 כי היה מלמד אותם כאיש שלטון ולא כסופרים׃

Mat 5:1 But when He saw the crowds, He went up on a mountain. And when He was seated His taught ones came to Him.
Mat 5:2 And having opened His mouth, He was teaching them, saying,
Mat 5:3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, because theirs is the reign of the heavens.
Mat 5:4 “Blessed are those who mourn, because they shall be comforted.
Mat 5:5 “Blessed are the meek, because they shall inherit the earth.1 Footnote: 1Ps. 37:9, 11, 22, 29, 34.
Mat 5:6 “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,1 because they shall be filled. Footnote: 1Isa. 55:1-2, Mt. 4:4, John 6:48-51.
Mat 5:7 “Blessed are the compassionate, because they shall obtain compassion.
Mat 5:8 “Blessed are the clean in heart,1 because they shall see Elohim. Footnote: 1Ps. 24:3-4.
Mat 5:9 “Blessed are the peacemakers, because they shall be called sons of Elohim.
Mat 5:10 “Blessed are those persecuted for righteousness’1 sake, because theirs is the reign of the heavens. Footnote: 11Pet. 3:14.
Mat 5:11 “Blessed are you when they reproach and persecute you, and falsely say every wicked word against you, for My sake.
Mat 5:12 “Rejoice and be glad, because your reward in the heavens is great. For in this way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
Mat 5:13 “You are the salt of the earth, but if the salt becomes tasteless, how shall it be seasoned? For it is no longer of any use but to be thrown out and to be trodden down by men.
Mat 5:14 “You are the light of the world. It is impossible for a city to be hidden on a mountain.
Mat 5:15 “Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it shines to all those in the house.
Mat 5:16 “Let your light so shine before men, so that they see your good works and praise your Father who is in the heavens.
Mat 5:17 “Do not think that I came to destroy the Torah or the Prophets.1 I did not come to destroy but to complete. Footnote: 1The Law and the Prophets is a term used for the pre-Messianic Scriptures.
Mat 5:18 “For truly, I say to you, till the heaven and the earth pass away, one jot or one tittle shall by no means pass from the Torah till all be done.1 Footnote: 1Lk. 16:17.
Mat 5:19 “Whoever, then, breaks one of the least of these commands, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the reign of the heavens; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the reign of the heavens.
Mat 5:20 “For I say to you, that unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees,1 you shall by no means enter into the reign of the heavens. Footnote: 1Mt. 15:3-9, Mk. 7:7-13, John 7:19, Acts 7:53, Rom. 2:23-27, Gal. 6:13.
Mat 5:21 “You heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not murder,’ and whoever murders shall be liable to judgment.
Mat 5:22 “But I say to you that whoever is wroth with his brother without a cause shall be liable to judgment. And whoever says to his brother, ‘Raka!’ shall be liable to the Sanhedrin. But whoever says, ‘You fool!’ shall be liable to fire of Gehenna.
Mat 5:23 “If, then, you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother holds whatever against you,
Mat 5:24 leave your gift there before the altar, and go, first make peace with your brother, and then come and offer your gift.
Mat 5:25 “Be well-minded with your opponent, promptly, while you are on the way with him, lest your opponent deliver you to the judge, and the judge to the officer, and you be thrown into prison.
Mat 5:26 “Truly, I say to you, you shall by no means get out of there till you have paid the last penny.
Mat 5:27 “You heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’
Mat 5:28 “But I say to you that everyone looking at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
Mat 5:29 “And if your right eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out and throw it away from you. For it is better for you that one of your members perish, than for your entire body to be thrown into Gehenna.
Mat 5:30 “And if your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away from you. For it is better for you that one of your members perish, than for your entire body to be thrown into Gehenna.
Mat 5:31 “And it has been said, ‘Whoever puts away his wife, let him give her a certificate of divorce.’
Mat 5:32 “But I say to you that whoever puts away his wife, except for the matter of whoring,1 makes her commit adultery. And whoever marries a woman who has been put away commits adultery. Footnote: 1Mt. 19:9, Dt. 24:1.
Mat 5:33 “Again, you heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not swear falsely, but shall perform your oaths to יהוה.’
Mat 5:34 “But I say to you, do not swear at all, neither by the heaven, because it is Elohim’s throne;
Mat 5:35 nor by the earth, for it is His footstool; nor by Yerushalayim, for it is the city of the great Sovereign;
Mat 5:36 nor swear by your head, because you are not able to make one hair white or black.
Mat 5:37 “But let your word ‘Yea’ be ‘Yea,’ and your ‘No’ be ‘No.’ And what goes beyond these is from the wicked one.
Mat 5:38 “You heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth,’
Mat 5:39 but I say to you, do not resist the wicked. But whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also.
Mat 5:40 “And he who wishes to sue you and take away your inner garment, let him have your outer garment as well.
Mat 5:41 “And whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two.
Mat 5:42 “Give to him who asks of you, and from him who wishes to borrow from you, do not turn away.
Mat 5:43 “You heard that it was said,1 ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ Footnote: 1Hate your enemy was “said,” not “written.”
Mat 5:44 “But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those cursing you, do good to those hating you, and pray for those insulting you and persecuting you,
Mat 5:45 so that you become sons of your Father in the heavens. Because He makes His sun rise on the wicked and on the good, and sends rain on the righteous and on the unrighteous.1 Footnote: 1Lk. 6:35, Acts 14:16-17.
Mat 5:46 “For if you love those loving you, what reward have you? Are the tax collectors not doing the same too?
Mat 5:47 “And if you greet your brothers only, what do you do more than others? Are the tax collectors not doing so too?
Mat 5:48 “Therefore, be perfect,1 as your Father in the heavens is perfect. Footnote: 1Ex. 17:1, Ps. 119:1, 1 John 2:5, Heb. 6:1.
Mat 6:1 “Beware of doing your acts of tzedakah before men, in order to be seen by them. Otherwise you have no reward from your Father in the heavens.
Mat 6:2 “Thus, when you do an act of tzedakah, do not sound a trumpet before you as the hypocrites do, in the congregations and in the streets, to be praised by men. Truly, I say to you, they have their reward.
Mat 6:3 “But when you do an act of tzedakah, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,
Mat 6:4 so that your act of tzedakah shall be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret shall Himself reward you openly.
Mat 6:5 “And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the congregations and on the corners of the streets, to be seen by men. Truly, I say to you, they have their reward.
Mat 6:6 “But you, when you pray, go into your room, and having shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place. And your Father who sees in secret shall reward you openly.
Mat 6:7 “And when praying, do not keep on babbling like the gentiles. For they think that they shall be heard for their many words.
Mat 6:8 “Therefore do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.
Mat 6:9 “This, then, is the way you should pray: ‘Our Father who is in the heavens, let Your Name be kept kadosh,
Mat 6:10 let Your reign come, let Your desire be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Mat 6:11 ‘Give us today our daily bread.
Mat 6:12 ‘And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
Mat 6:13 ‘And do not lead us into trial,1 but deliver us from the wicked one – because Yours is the reign and the power and the esteem, forever. Omĕin.’ Footnote: 1See 26:41.
Mat 6:14 “For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father shall also forgive you.
Mat 6:15 “But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither shall your Father forgive your trespasses.
Mat 6:16 “And when you fast, do not be sad-faced like the hypocrites. For they disfigure their faces so that they appear to be fasting to men. Truly, I say to you, they have their reward.
Mat 6:17 “But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face,
Mat 6:18 so that you do not appear to men to be fasting, but to your Father who is in the secret place. And your Father who sees in secret shall reward you openly.
Mat 6:19 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal,
Mat 6:20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.
Mat 6:21 “For where your treasure is, there your heart shall be also.
Mat 6:22 “The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, all your body shall be enlightened.
Mat 6:23 “But if your eye is evil,1 all your body shall be darkened. If, then, the light that is within you is darkness, how great is that darkness! Footnote: 1This is a Heḇrew idiom – a good eye means to be generous, while an evil eye means to be stingy.
Mat 6:24 “No one is able to serve two masters, for either he shall hate the one and love the other, or else he shall cleave to the one and despise the other. You are not able to serve Elohim and mammon.1 Footnote: 1Personification of wealth.

B’reisheet 12:3 ואברכה מברכיך ומקללך אאר ונברכו בך כל משׁפחת האדמה׃
B’reisheet 12:4 וילך אברם כאשׁר דבר אליו יהוה וילך אתו לוט ואברם בן־חמשׁ שׁנים ושׁבעים שׁנה בצאתו מחרן׃

B’reisheet 12:16 ולאברם היטיב בעבורה ויהי־לו צאן־ובקר וחמרים ועבדים ושׁפחת ואתנת וגמלים׃
B’reisheet 12:17 וינגע יהוה את־פרעה נגעים גדלים ואת־ביתו על־דבר שׂרי אשׁת אברם׃
B’reisheet 12:18 ויקרא פרעה לאברם ויאמר מה־זאת עשׂית לי למה לא־הגדת לי כי אשׁתך הוא׃
B’reisheet 12:19 למה אמרת אחתי הוא ואקח אתה לי לאשׁה ועתה הנה אשׁתך קח ולך׃
B’reisheet 12:20 ויצו עליו פרעה אנשׁים וישׁלחו אתו ואת־אשׁתו ואת־כל־אשׁר־לו׃
B’reisheet 13:1 ויעל אברם ממצרים הוא ואשׁתו וכל־אשׁר־לו ולוט עמו הנגבה׃
B’reisheet 13:2 ואברם כבד מאד במקנה בכסף ובזהב׃
B’reisheet 13:3 וילך למסעיו מנגב ועד־בית־אל עד־המקום אשׁר־היה שׁם אהלה בתחלה בין בית־אל ובין העי׃

B’reisheet 13:6 ולא־נשׂא אתם הארץ לשׁבת יחדו כי־היה רכושׁם רב ולא יכלו לשׁבת יחדו׃
B’reisheet 13:7 ויהי־ריב בין רעי מקנה־אברם ובין רעי מקנה־לוט והכנעני והפרזי אז ישׁב בארץ׃
B’reisheet 13:8 ויאמר אברם אל־לוט אל־נא תהי מריבה ביני ובינך ובין רעי ובין רעיך כי־אנשׁים אחים אנחנו׃
B’reisheet 13:9 הלא כל־הארץ לפניך הפרד נא מעלי אם־השׂמאל ואימנה ואם־הימין ואשׂמאילה׃
B’reisheet 13:10 וישׂא־לוט את־עיניו וירא את־כל־ככר הירדן כי כלה משׁקה לפני שׁחת יהוה את־סדם ואת־עמרה כגן־יהוה כארץ מצרים באכה צער׃

B’reisheet 14:16 וישׁב את כל־הרכשׁ וגם את־לוט אחיו ורכשׁו השׁיב וגם את־הנשׁים ואת־העם׃
B’reisheet 14:17 ויצא מלך־סדם לקראתו אחרי שׁובו מהכות את־כדר־לעמר ואת־המלכים אשׁר אתו אל־עמק שׁוה הוא עמק המלך׃

B’reisheet 15:2 ויאמר אברם אדני יהוה מה־תתן־לי ואנכי הולך ערירי ובן־משׁק ביתי הוא דמשׂק אליעזר׃
B’reisheet 15:3 ויאמר אברם הן לי לא נתתה זרע והנה בן־ביתי יורשׁ אתי׃
B’reisheet 15:4 והנה דבר־יהוה אליו לאמר לא יירשׁך זה כי־אם אשׁר יצא ממעיך הוא יירשׁך׃
B’reisheet 15:5 ויוצא אתו החוצה ויאמר הבט־נא השׁמימה וספר הכוכבים אם־תוכל לספר אתם ויאמר לו כה יהיה זרעך׃

B’reisheet 15:7 ויאמר אליו אני יהוה אשׁר הוצאתיך מאור כשׂדים לתת לך את־הארץ הזאת לרשׁתה׃

B’reisheet 16:3 ותקח שׂרי אשׁת־אברם את־הגר המצרית שׁפחתה מקץ עשׂר שׁנים לשׁבת אברם בארץ כנען ותתן אתה לאברם אישׁה לו לאשׁה׃
B’reisheet 16:4 ויבא אל־הגר ותהר ותרא כי הרתה ותקל גברתה בעיניה׃

B’reisheet 16:7 וימצאה מלאך יהוה על־עין המים במדבר על־העין בדרך שׁור׃
B’reisheet 16:8 ויאמר הגר שׁפחת שׂרי אי־מזה באת ואנה תלכי ותאמר מפני שׂרי גברתי אנכי ברחת׃
B’reisheet 16:9 ויאמר לה מלאך יהוה שׁובי אל־גברתך והתעני תחת ידיה׃

B’reisheet 12:1 And יהוה said to Avram, “Go yourself out of your land, from your relatives and from your father’s house, to a land which I show you.
B’reisheet 12:2 “And I shall make you a great nation, and bless you and make your name great, and you shall be a blessing!
B’reisheet 12:3 “And I shall bless those who bless you, and curse him who curses you. And in you all the clans of the earth shall be blessed.”
B’reisheet 12:4 So Avram left, as יהוה had commanded him, and Lot went with him. And Avram was seventy-five years old when he set out from Ḥaran.
B’reisheet 12:5 And Avram took Sarai his wife and Lot his brother’s son, and all their possessions that they had gathered, and the beings whom they had acquired in Ḥaran, and they set out for the land of Kenaʽan. And they came to the land of Kenaʽan.
B’reisheet 12:6 And Avram passed through the land to the place of Sheḵem, as far as the terebinth tree of Moreh. At that time the Kenaʽanites were in the land.
B’reisheet 12:7 And יהוה appeared to Avram and said, “To your seed I give this land.” And he built there an altar to יהוה, who had appeared to him.
B’reisheet 12:8 And from there he moved to the mountain east of Bĕyth Ěl, and he pitched his tent, with Bĕyth Ěl on the west and Ai on the east. And he built there an altar to יהוה, and called on the Name of יהוה.
B’reisheet 12:9 And Avram set out, continuing toward the South.
B’reisheet 12:10 And a scarcity of food came to be in the land, and Avram went down to Mitsrayim to dwell there, for the scarcity of food was severe in the land.
B’reisheet 12:11 And it came to be, when he was close to entering Mitsrayim, that he said to Sarai his wife, “See, I know that you are a fair woman to look at.
B’reisheet 12:12 “And it shall be, when the Mitsrites see you, that they shall say, ‘This is his wife.’ And they shall kill me, but let you live.
B’reisheet 12:13 “Please say you are my sister, so that it shall be well with me for your sake, and my life be spared because of you.”
B’reisheet 12:14 And it came to be, when Avram came into Mitsrayim, that the Mitsrites saw the woman, that she was very fair.
B’reisheet 12:15 And Pharaoh’s officials saw her and praised her before Pharaoh, and the woman was taken to Pharaoh’s house.
B’reisheet 12:16 And he treated Avram well for her sake, and he had sheep, and cattle, and male donkeys, and male and female servants, and female donkeys, and camels.
B’reisheet 12:17 But יהוה plagued Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai, Avram’s wife.
B’reisheet 12:18 And Pharaoh called Avram and said, “What is this you have done to me? Why did you not inform me that she was your wife?
B’reisheet 12:19 “Why did you say, ‘She is my sister’? And so I was going to take her for my wife. Look, here is your wife, take her and go.”
B’reisheet 12:20 And Pharaoh commanded his men concerning him, and they sent him away, with his wife and all that he had.
B’reisheet 13:1 And Avram went up from Mitsrayim into the South, he and his wife and all that he had, and Lot with him.
B’reisheet 13:2 And Avram was very rich in livestock, in silver, and in gold.
B’reisheet 13:3 And he went on his journey from the South as far as Bĕyth Ěl, to the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bĕyth Ěl and Ai,
B’reisheet 13:4 to the place of the altar which he had made there at first. And there Avram called on the Name of יהוה.
B’reisheet 13:5 Now Lot, who went with Avram, also had flocks and herds and tents.
B’reisheet 13:6 And the land was not able to bear them, that they might dwell together, for their possessions were great, so that they could not dwell together.
B’reisheet 13:7 And there was strife between the herdsmen of Avram’s livestock and the herdsmen of Lot’s livestock. And at that time the Kenaʽanites and the Perizzites dwelt in the land.
B’reisheet 13:8 Then Avram said to Lot, “Please let there be no strife between you and me, and between my herdsmen and your herdsmen, for we are brothers.
B’reisheet 13:9 “Is not all the land before you? Please separate from me. If you take the left, then I go to the right; or, if you go to the right, then I go to the left.”
B’reisheet 13:10 And Lot lifted his eyes and saw all the plain of the Yardĕn, that it was well watered everywhere – before יהוה destroyed S’dom and ‘Amora – like the garden of יהוה, like the land of Mitsrayim as you go toward Tsoʽar.
B’reisheet 13:11 So Lot chose for himself all the plain of the Yardĕn, and Lot moved east. Thus they separated from each other,
B’reisheet 13:12 Avram dwelling in the land of Kenaʽan, and Lot dwelling in the cities of the plain and pitched his tent as far as S’dom.
B’reisheet 13:13 But the men of S’dom were evil and sinned before יהוה, exceedingly so.
B’reisheet 13:14 And after Lot had separated from him, יהוה said to Avram, “Now lift up your eyes and look from the place where you are, northward and southward and eastward and westward,
B’reisheet 13:15 for all the land which you see I shall give to you and your seed forever.
B’reisheet 13:16 “And I shall make your seed as the dust of the earth, so that, if a man could count the dust of the earth, then your seed also could be counted.
B’reisheet 13:17 “Arise, walk in the land through its length and its width, for I give it to you.”
B’reisheet 13:18 So Avram moved his tent, and went and dwelt by the terebinth trees of Mamrĕ, which are in Ḥeḇron, and built an altar there to יהוה.
B’reisheet 14:1 And it came to be in the days of Amraphel sovereign of Shinʽar, Aryoḵ sovereign of Ellasar, Keḏorlaʽomer sovereign of Ěylam, and Tiḏʽal sovereign of Goyim,
B’reisheet 14:2 that they fought against Bera sovereign of S’dom, Birsha sovereign of ‘Amora, Shinaḇ sovereign of Aḏmah, Shem’ĕḇer sovereign of Tseḇoyim, and the sovereign of Bela, that is Tsoʽar.
B’reisheet 14:3 All these joined together in the Valley of Siddim, that is the Salt Sea.
B’reisheet 14:4 Twelve years they served Keḏorlaʽomer, and in the thirteenth year they rebelled.
B’reisheet 14:5 And in the fourteenth year Keḏorlaʽomer and the sovereigns that were with him came and smote the Repha’im in Ashteroth Qarnayim, and the Zuzim in Ḥam, and the Ěmites in Shawĕh Qiryathayim,
B’reisheet 14:6 and the Ḥorites in their mountain of Sĕʽir, as far as Ěl Paran, which is by the wilderness.
B’reisheet 14:7 And they turned back and came to Ěn Mishpat, that is Qaḏĕsh, and smote all the country of the Amalĕqites, and also the Amorites who dwelt in Ḥatsetson Tamar.
B’reisheet 14:8 And the sovereign of S’dom, and the sovereign of ‘Amora, and the sovereign of Aḏmah, and the sovereign of Tseḇoyim, and the sovereign of Bela, that is Tsoʽar, went out and joined together in battle in the Valley of Siddim,
B’reisheet 14:9 against Keḏorlaʽomer sovereign of Ěylam, and Tiḏʽal sovereign of Goyim, and Amraphel sovereign of Shinʽar, and Aryoḵ sovereign of Ellasar – four sovereigns against five.
B’reisheet 14:10 And the Valley of Siddim had many tar pits. And the sovereigns of S’dom and ‘Amora fled and fell there, and the remainder fled to the mountains.
B’reisheet 14:11 And they took all the goods of S’dom and ‘Amora, and all their food, and went away.
B’reisheet 14:12 And they took Lot, Avram’s brother’s son who dwelt in S’dom, and his goods, and left.
B’reisheet 14:13 And one who had escaped came and informed Avram the Heḇrew, for he dwelt by the terebinth trees of Mamrĕ the Amorite, brother of Eshkol and brother of Anĕr, and they had a covenant with Avram.
B’reisheet 14:14 And when Avram heard that his brother was taken captive, he armed his three hundred and eighteen trained servants who were born in his own house, and went in pursuit as far as Dan.
B’reisheet 14:15 And he and his servants divided against them by night, and smote them and pursued them as far as Ḥoḇah, which is on the left of Damascus.
B’reisheet 14:16 So he brought back all the goods, and also brought back his brother Lot and his goods, as well as the women and the people.
B’reisheet 14:17 And after his return from the defeat of Keḏorlaʽomer and the sovereigns who were with him, the sovereign of S’dom came out to meet him at the Valley of Shawĕh, that is, the Sovereign’s Valley.
B’reisheet 14:18 And Malkei Tzedik sovereign of Shalĕm brought out bread and wine. Now he was the kohen of the Most High Ěl.
B’reisheet 14:19 And he blessed him and said, “Blessed be Avram of the Most High Ěl, Possessor of the heavens and earth.
B’reisheet 14:20 “And blessed be the Most High Ěl who has delivered your enemies into your hand.” And he gave him a tenth of all.
B’reisheet 14:21 And the sovereign of S’dom said to Avram, “Give me the people, and take the goods for yourself.”
B’reisheet 14:22 But Avram said to the sovereign of S’dom, “I have lifted my hand to יהוה, the Most High Ěl, the Possessor of the heavens and earth,
B’reisheet 14:23 not to take a thread or a sandal strap or whatever is yours, lest you should say, ‘I have made Avram rich,’
B’reisheet 14:24 except only what the young men have eaten, and the portion of the men who went with me: Anĕr, Eshkol, and Mamrĕ. Let them take their portion.”
B’reisheet 15:1 After these events the word of יהוה came to Avram in a vision, saying, “Do not be afraid, Avram. I am your shield, your reward is exceedingly great.”
B’reisheet 15:2 And Avram said, “Master יהוה, what would You give me, seeing I go childless, and the heir of my house is Eliʽezer of Damascus?”
B’reisheet 15:3 And Avram said, “See, You have given me no seed, and see, one born in my house is my heir!”
B’reisheet 15:4 And see, the word of יהוה came to him, saying, “This one is not your heir, but he who comes from your own body is your heir.”
B’reisheet 15:5 And He brought him outside and said, “Look now toward the heavens, and count the stars if you are able to count them.” And He said to him, “So are your seed.”
B’reisheet 15:6 And he believed in יהוה, and He reckoned it to him for righteousness.
B’reisheet 15:7 And He said to him, “I am יהוה, who brought you out of Ur of the Chaldeans, to give you this land to inherit it.”
B’reisheet 15:8 And he said, “Master יהוה, whereby do I know that I possess it?”
B’reisheet 15:9 And He said to him, “Bring Me a three-year-old heifer, and a three-year-old female goat, and a three-year-old ram, and a turtledove, and a young pigeon.”
B’reisheet 15:10 And he took all these to Him and cut them in the middle, and placed each half opposite the other, but he did not cut the birds.
B’reisheet 15:11 And the birds of prey came down on the carcasses, and Avram drove them away.
B’reisheet 15:12 And it came to be, when the sun was going down, and a deep sleep fell upon Avram, that see, a frightening great darkness fell upon him.
B’reisheet 15:13 And He said to Avram, “Know for certain that your seed are to be sojourners in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them, and they shall afflict them four hundred years.
B’reisheet 15:14 “But the nation whom they serve I am going to judge, and afterward let them come out with great possessions.
B’reisheet 15:15 “Now as for you, you are to go to your fathers in peace, you are to be buried at a good old age.
B’reisheet 15:16 “Then, in the fourth generation they shall return here, for the crookedness of the Amorites is not yet complete.”
B’reisheet 15:17 And it came to be, when the sun went down and it was dark, that see, a smoking oven and a burning torch passing between those pieces.
B’reisheet 15:18 On the same day יהוה made a covenant with Avram, saying, “I have given this land to your seed, from the river of Mitsrayim to the great river, the River Euphrates,
B’reisheet 15:19 with the Qĕynite, and the Qenizzite, and the Qaḏmonite,
B’reisheet 15:20 and the Ḥittite, and the Perizzite, and the Repha’im,
B’reisheet 15:21 and the Amorite, and the Kenaʽanite, and the Girgashite, and the Yeḇusite.”
B’reisheet 16:1 And Sarai, Avram’s wife, had borne him no child. And she had a Mitsrite female servant whose name was Haḡar.
B’reisheet 16:2 And Sarai said to Avram, “See, יהוה has kept me from bearing children. Please, go in to my female servant. It might be that I am built up by her.” And Avram listened to the voice of Sarai.
B’reisheet 16:3 And Sarai, Avram’s wife, took Haḡar her female servant, the Mitsrite, and gave her to her husband Avram to be his wife, after Avram had dwelt ten years in the land of Kenaʽan.
B’reisheet 16:4 And he went in to Haḡar, and she conceived. And when she saw that she had conceived, her mistress was despised in her eyes.
B’reisheet 16:5 And Sarai said to Avram, “My wrong be upon you! I gave my female servant into your bosom. And when she saw that she had conceived, I was despised in her eyes. Let יהוה judge between you and me.”
B’reisheet 16:6 And Avram said to Sarai, “See, your female servant is in your hand, do to her what is good in your eyes.” And Sarai treated her harshly, and she fled from her presence.
B’reisheet 16:7 And the Messenger of יהוה found her by a spring of water in the wilderness, by the spring on the way to Shur,
B’reisheet 16:8 and He said, “Haḡar, Sarai’s female servant, where have you come from, and where are you going?” And she said, “I am fleeing from the presence of Sarai, my mistress.”
B’reisheet 16:9 And the Messenger of יהוה said to her, “Return to your mistress, and humble yourself under her hand.”
B’reisheet 16:10 And the Messenger of יהוה said to her, “I am going to increase your seed greatly, too numerous to be counted.”
B’reisheet 16:11 And the Messenger of יהוה said to her, “See, you are conceiving and bearing a son, and shall call his name Yishmaʽĕl, because יהוה has heard your affliction.
B’reisheet 16:12 “And he is to be a wild man, his hand against every one and every one’s hand against him, and dwell over against all his brothers.”
B’reisheet 16:13 And she called the Name of יהוה who spoke to her, “You are the Ěl who sees,” for she said, “Even here have I seen after Him who sees me?”
B’reisheet 16:14 That is why the well was called Be’ĕr Laḥai Ro’i, see, it is between Qaḏĕsh and Bereḏ.
B’reisheet 16:15 And Haḡar bore Avram a son, and Avram called the name of his son, whom Haḡar bore, Yishmaʽĕl.
B’reisheet 16:16 And Avram was eighty-six years old when Haḡar bore Yishmaʽĕl to Avram.
B’reisheet 17:1 And it came to be when Avram was ninety-nine years old, that יהוה appeared to Avram and said to him, “I am Ěl Shaddai – walk before Me and be perfect1. Footnote: 1Messiah gives the same command in Mt. 5:48.
B’reisheet 17:2 “And I give My covenant between Me and you, and shall greatly increase you.”
B’reisheet 17:3 And Avram fell on his face, and Elohim spoke with him, saying,
B’reisheet 17:4 “As for Me, look, My covenant is with you, and you shall become a father of many nations.
B’reisheet 17:5 “And no longer is your name called Avram, but your name shall be Avraham, because I shall make you a father of many nations.
B’reisheet 17:6 “And I shall make you bear fruit exceedingly, and make nations of you, and sovereigns shall come from you.
B’reisheet 17:7 “And I shall establish My covenant between Me and you and your seed after you in their generations, for an everlasting covenant, to be Elohim to you and your seed after you.
B’reisheet 17:8 “And I shall give to you and your seed after you the land of your sojournings, all the land of Kenaʽan, as an everlasting possession. And I shall be their Elohim.”
B’reisheet 17:9 And Elohim said to Avraham, “As for you, guard My covenant, you and your seed after you throughout their generations.
B’reisheet 17:10 “This is My covenant which you guard between Me and you, and your seed after you: Every male child among you is to be circumcised.
B’reisheet 17:11 “And you shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin, and it shall become a sign of the covenant between Me and you.
B’reisheet 17:12 “And a son of eight days is circumcised by you, every male child in your generations, he who is born in your house or bought with silver from any foreigner who is not of your seed.
B’reisheet 17:13 “He who is born in your house, and he who is bought with your silver, has to be circumcised. So shall My covenant be in your flesh, for an everlasting covenant.
B’reisheet 17:14 “And an uncircumcised male child, who is not circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin, his life shall be cut off from his people – he has broken My covenant.”
B’reisheet 17:15 And Elohim said to Avraham, “As for Sarai your wife, do not call her name Sarai, for Sarah is her name.
B’reisheet 17:16 “And I shall bless her and also give you a son by her. And I shall bless her, and she shall become nations – sovereigns of peoples are to be from her.”
B’reisheet 17:17 And Avraham fell on his face and laughed, and said in his heart, “Is a child born to a man who is a hundred years old? Or is Sarah, who is ninety years old, to bear a child?”
B’reisheet 17:18 And Avraham said to Elohim, “Oh, let Yishmaʽĕl live before You!”
B’reisheet 17:19 And Elohim said, “No, Sarah your wife is truly bearing a son to you, and you shall call his name Yitz’chak. And I shall establish My covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him.
B’reisheet 17:20 “And as for Yishmaʽĕl, I have heard you. See, I shall bless him, and shall make him bear fruit, and greatly increase him. He is to bring forth twelve princes, and I shall make him a great nation.
B’reisheet 17:21 “But My covenant I establish with Yitz’chak, whom Sarah is to bear to you at this set time next year.”
B’reisheet 17:22 And when He had ended speaking with him, Elohim went up from Avraham.
B’reisheet 17:23 And Avraham took Yishmaʽĕl his son, and all those born in his house and all those bought with his silver, every male among the men of Avraham’s house, and circumcised the flesh of their foreskins that same day, as Elohim told him.
B’reisheet 17:24 And Avraham was ninety-nine years old when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.
B’reisheet 17:25 And Yishmaʽĕl his son was thirteen years old when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.
B’reisheet 17:26 Avraham and his son Yishmaʽĕl were circumcised that same day.
B’reisheet 17:27 And all the men of his house, born in the house or bought with silver from a foreigner, were circumcised with him.
B’reisheet 12:1 And יהוה said to Avram, “Go yourself out of your land, from your relatives and from your father’s house, to a land which I show you.
B’reisheet 12:2 “And I shall make you a great nation, and bless you and make your name great, and you shall be a blessing!
B’reisheet 12:3 “And I shall bless those who bless you, and curse him who curses you. And in you all the clans of the earth shall be blessed.”
B’reisheet 12:4 So Avram left, as יהוה had commanded him, and Lot went with him. And Avram was seventy-five years old when he set out from Ḥaran.
B’reisheet 12:5 And Avram took Sarai his wife and Lot his brother’s son, and all their possessions that they had gathered, and the beings whom they had acquired in Ḥaran, and they set out for the land of Kenaʽan. And they came to the land of Kenaʽan.
B’reisheet 12:6 And Avram passed through the land to the place of Sheḵem, as far as the terebinth tree of Moreh. At that time the Kenaʽanites were in the land.
B’reisheet 12:7 And יהוה appeared to Avram and said, “To your seed I give this land.” And he built there an altar to יהוה, who had appeared to him.
B’reisheet 12:8 And from there he moved to the mountain east of Bĕyth Ěl, and he pitched his tent, with Bĕyth Ěl on the west and Ai on the east. And he built there an altar to יהוה, and called on the Name of יהוה.
B’reisheet 12:9 And Avram set out, continuing toward the South.
B’reisheet 12:10 And a scarcity of food came to be in the land, and Avram went down to Mitsrayim to dwell there, for the scarcity of food was severe in the land.
B’reisheet 12:11 And it came to be, when he was close to entering Mitsrayim, that he said to Sarai his wife, “See, I know that you are a fair woman to look at.
B’reisheet 12:12 “And it shall be, when the Mitsrites see you, that they shall say, ‘This is his wife.’ And they shall kill me, but let you live.
B’reisheet 12:13 “Please say you are my sister, so that it shall be well with me for your sake, and my life be spared because of you.”
B’reisheet 12:14 And it came to be, when Avram came into Mitsrayim, that the Mitsrites saw the woman, that she was very fair.
B’reisheet 12:15 And Pharaoh’s officials saw her and praised her before Pharaoh, and the woman was taken to Pharaoh’s house.
B’reisheet 12:16 And he treated Avram well for her sake, and he had sheep, and cattle, and male donkeys, and male and female servants, and female donkeys, and camels.
B’reisheet 12:17 But יהוה plagued Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai, Avram’s wife.
B’reisheet 12:18 And Pharaoh called Avram and said, “What is this you have done to me? Why did you not inform me that she was your wife?
B’reisheet 12:19 “Why did you say, ‘She is my sister’? And so I was going to take her for my wife. Look, here is your wife, take her and go.”
B’reisheet 12:20 And Pharaoh commanded his men concerning him, and they sent him away, with his wife and all that he had.
B’reisheet 13:1 And Avram went up from Mitsrayim into the South, he and his wife and all that he had, and Lot with him.
B’reisheet 13:2 And Avram was very rich in livestock, in silver, and in gold.
B’reisheet 13:3 And he went on his journey from the South as far as Bĕyth Ěl, to the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bĕyth Ěl and Ai,
B’reisheet 13:4 to the place of the altar which he had made there at first. And there Avram called on the Name of יהוה.

B’reisheet 15:9 And He said to him, “Bring Me a three-year-old heifer, and a three-year-old female goat, and a three-year-old ram, and a turtledove, and a young pigeon.”
B’reisheet 15:10 And he took all these to Him and cut them in the middle, and placed each half opposite the other, but he did not cut the birds.
B’reisheet 15:11 And the birds of prey came down on the carcasses, and Avram drove them away.
B’reisheet 15:12 And it came to be, when the sun was going down, and a deep sleep fell upon Avram, that see, a frightening great darkness fell upon him.
B’reisheet 15:13 And He said to Avram, “Know for certain that your seed are to be sojourners in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them, and they shall afflict them four hundred years.
B’reisheet 15:14 “But the nation whom they serve I am going to judge, and afterward let them come out with great possessions.
B’reisheet 15:15 “Now as for you, you are to go to your fathers in peace, you are to be buried at a good old age.
B’reisheet 15:16 “Then, in the fourth generation they shall return here, for the crookedness of the Amorites is not yet complete.”
B’reisheet 15:17 And it came to be, when the sun went down and it was dark, that see, a smoking oven and a burning torch passing between those pieces.
B’reisheet 15:18 On the same day יהוה made a covenant with Avram, saying, “I have given this land to your seed, from the river of Mitsrayim to the great river, the River Euphrates,
B’reisheet 15:19 with the Qĕynite, and the Qenizzite, and the Qaḏmonite,
B’reisheet 15:20 and the Ḥittite, and the Perizzite, and the Repha’im,
B’reisheet 15:21 and the Amorite, and the Kenaʽanite, and the Girgashite, and the Yeḇusite.”
B’reisheet 16:1 And Sarai, Avram’s wife, had borne him no child. And she had a Mitsrite female servant whose name was Haḡar.
B’reisheet 16:2 And Sarai said to Avram, “See, יהוה has kept me from bearing children. Please, go in to my female servant. It might be that I am built up by her.” And Avram listened to the voice of Sarai.
B’reisheet 16:3 And Sarai, Avram’s wife, took Haḡar her female servant, the Mitsrite, and gave her to her husband Avram to be his wife, after Avram had dwelt ten years in the land of Kenaʽan.
B’reisheet 16:4 And he went in to Haḡar, and she conceived. And when she saw that she had conceived, her mistress was despised in her eyes.
B’reisheet 16:5 And Sarai said to Avram, “My wrong be upon you! I gave my female servant into your bosom. And when she saw that she had conceived, I was despised in her eyes. Let יהוה judge between you and me.”
B’reisheet 16:6 And Avram said to Sarai, “See, your female servant is in your hand, do to her what is good in your eyes.” And Sarai treated her harshly, and she fled from her presence.
B’reisheet 16:7 And the Messenger of יהוה found her by a spring of water in the wilderness, by the spring on the way to Shur,
B’reisheet 16:8 and He said, “Haḡar, Sarai’s female servant, where have you come from, and where are you going?” And she said, “I am fleeing from the presence of Sarai, my mistress.”
B’reisheet 16:9 And the Messenger of יהוה said to her, “Return to your mistress, and humble yourself under her hand.”
B’reisheet 16:10 And the Messenger of יהוה said to her, “I am going to increase your seed greatly, too numerous to be counted.”
B’reisheet 16:11 And the Messenger of יהוה said to her, “See, you are conceiving and bearing a son, and shall call his name Yishmaʽĕl, because יהוה has heard your affliction.
B’reisheet 16:12 “And he is to be a wild man, his hand against every one and every one’s hand against him, and dwell over against all his brothers.”
B’reisheet 16:13 And she called the Name of יהוה who spoke to her, “You are the Ěl who sees,” for she said, “Even here have I seen after Him who sees me?”
B’reisheet 16:14 That is why the well was called Be’ĕr Laḥai Ro’i, see, it is between Qaḏĕsh and Bereḏ.
B’reisheet 16:15 And Haḡar bore Avram a son, and Avram called the name of his son, whom Haḡar bore, Yishmaʽĕl.
B’reisheet 16:16 And Avram was eighty-six years old when Haḡar bore Yishmaʽĕl to Avram.
B’reisheet 17:1 And it came to be when Avram was ninety-nine years old, that יהוה appeared to Avram and said to him, “I am Ěl Shaddai – walk before Me and be perfect1. Footnote: 1Messiah gives the same command in Mt. 5:48.
B’reisheet 17:2 “And I give My covenant between Me and you, and shall greatly increase you.”
B’reisheet 17:3 And Avram fell on his face, and Elohim spoke with him, saying,
B’reisheet 17:4 “As for Me, look, My covenant is with you, and you shall become a father of many nations.
B’reisheet 17:5 “And no longer is your name called Avram, but your name shall be Avraham, because I shall make you a father of many nations.
B’reisheet 17:6 “And I shall make you bear fruit exceedingly, and make nations of you, and sovereigns shall come from you.
B’reisheet 17:7 “And I shall establish My covenant between Me and you and your seed after you in their generations, for an everlasting covenant, to be Elohim to you and your seed after you.
B’reisheet 17:8 “And I shall give to you and your seed after you the land of your sojournings, all the land of Kenaʽan, as an everlasting possession. And I shall be their Elohim.”
B’reisheet 17:9 And Elohim said to Avraham, “As for you, guard My covenant, you and your seed after you throughout their generations.
B’reisheet 17:10 “This is My covenant which you guard between Me and you, and your seed after you: Every male child among you is to be circumcised.
B’reisheet 17:11 “And you shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin, and it shall become a sign of the covenant between Me and you.
B’reisheet 17:12 “And a son of eight days is circumcised by you, every male child in your generations, he who is born in your house or bought with silver from any foreigner who is not of your seed.
B’reisheet 17:13 “He who is born in your house, and he who is bought with your silver, has to be circumcised. So shall My covenant be in your flesh, for an everlasting covenant.
B’reisheet 17:14 “And an uncircumcised male child, who is not circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin, his life shall be cut off from his people – he has broken My covenant.”
B’reisheet 17:15 And Elohim said to Avraham, “As for Sarai your wife, do not call her name Sarai, for Sarah is her name.
B’reisheet 17:16 “And I shall bless her and also give you a son by her. And I shall bless her, and she shall become nations – sovereigns of peoples are to be from her.”
B’reisheet 17:17 And Avraham fell on his face and laughed, and said in his heart, “Is a child born to a man who is a hundred years old? Or is Sarah, who is ninety years old, to bear a child?”
B’reisheet 17:18 And Avraham said to Elohim, “Oh, let Yishmaʽĕl live before You!”
B’reisheet 17:19 And Elohim said, “No, Sarah your wife is truly bearing a son to you, and you shall call his name Yitz’chak. And I shall establish My covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him.
B’reisheet 17:20 “And as for Yishmaʽĕl, I have heard you. See, I shall bless him, and shall make him bear fruit, and greatly increase him. He is to bring forth twelve princes, and I shall make him a great nation.
B’reisheet 17:21 “But My covenant I establish with Yitz’chak, whom Sarah is to bear to you at this set time next year.”
B’reisheet 17:22 And when He had ended speaking with him, Elohim went up from Avraham.
B’reisheet 17:23 And Avraham took Yishmaʽĕl his son, and all those born in his house and all those bought with his silver, every male among the men of Avraham’s house, and circumcised the flesh of their foreskins that same day, as Elohim told him.
B’reisheet 17:24 And Avraham was ninety-nine years old when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.
B’reisheet 17:25 And Yishmaʽĕl his son was thirteen years old when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.
B’reisheet 17:26 Avraham and his son Yishmaʽĕl were circumcised that same day.
B’reisheet 17:27 And all the men of his house, born in the house or bought with silver from a foreigner, were circumcised with him.
