Mat 1:2 אברהם הוליד את־יצחק ויצחק הוליד את־יעקב ויעקב הוליד את־יהודה ואת־אחיו׃

Mat 1:3 ויהודה הוליד את־פרץ ואת־זרח מתמר ופרץ הוליד את־חצרון וחצרון הוליד את־רם׃

Mat 1:4 ורם הוליד את־עמינדב ועמינדב הוליד את־נחשון ונחשון הוליד את־שלמון׃

Mat 1:5 ושלמון הוליד את־בעז מרחב ובעז הוליד את־עובד מרות ועובד הוליד את־ישי׃

Mat 1:6 וישי הוליד את־דוד המלך ודוד המלך הוליד את־שלמה מאשת אוריה׃

Mat 1:7 ושלמה הוליד את־רחבעם ורחבעם הוליד את־אביה ואביה הוליד את־אסא׃

Mat 1:8 ואסא הוליד את־יהושפט ויהושפט הוליד את־יורם ויורם הוליד את עזיהו׃

Mat 1:9 ועזיהו הוליד את־יותם ויותם הוליד את־אחז ואחז הוליד את־יחזקיהו׃

Mat 1:10 ויחזקיהו הוליד את־מנשה ומנשה הוליד את־אמון ואמון הוליד את־יאשיהו׃

Mat 1:11 ויאשיהו הוליד את־יכניהו ואת־אחיו לעת גלות בבל׃

Mat 1:12 ואחרי גלותם בבלה הוליד יכניהו את שאלתיאל ושאלתיאל הוליד את־זרבבל׃

Mat 1:13 וזרבבל הוליד את־אביהוד ואביהוד הוליד את־אליקים ואליקים הוליד את עזור׃

Mat 1:14 ועזור הוליד את־צדוק וצדוק הוליד את־יכין ויכין הוליד את־אליהוד׃

Mat 1:15 ואליהוד הוליד את־אלעזר ואלעזר הוליד את־מתן ומתן הוליד את־יעקב׃

Mat 1:16 ויעקב הוליד את־יוסף בעל מרים אשר ממנה נולד ישוע הנקרא משיח׃

Mat 1:17 והנה כל־הדרות מן־אברהם עד־דוד ארבעה עשר דרות ומן־דוד עד־גלות בבל ארבעה עשר דרות ומגלות בבל עד־המשיח ארבעה עשר דרות׃

Mat 1:18 וזה דבר הלדת ישוע המשיח מרים אמו היתה מארשה ליוסף ובטרם יבא אליה נמצאת הרה מרוח הקדש׃

Mat 1:19 ויוסף בעלה איש צדיק ולא אבה לתתה לחרפה ויאמר אשלחנה בסתר׃

Mat 1:20 הוא חשב כזאת והנה מלאך יהוה נראה אליו בחלום ויאמר יוסף בן־דוד אל־תירא מקחת את מרים אשתך כי הנוצר בקרבה מרוח הקדש הוא׃

Mat 1:21 והיא ילדת בן וקראת את־שמו ישוע כי הוא יושיע את־עמו מחטאתיהם׃

Mat 1:22 וכל־זאת היתה למלאת את־דבר יהוה אשר־דבר ביד הנביא לאמר׃

Mat 1:23 הנה העלמה הרה וילדת בן וקראו שמו עמנואל אשר פרושו האל עמנו׃

Mat 1:24 וייקץ יוסף משנתו ויעש כאשר צוהו מלאך יהוה ויאסף את־אשתו אל ביתו׃

Mat 1:25 ולא ידעה עד כי־ילדה בן (את־בכורה) ויקרא את־שמו ישוע׃

Mat 2:1 ויהי בימי הורדוס המלך כאשר נולד ישוע בבית־לחם יהודה ויבאו מגושים מארץ מזרח ירושלים׃

Mat 2:2 ויאמרו איה מלך היהודים אשר ילד כי ראינו את־כוכבו במזרח ונבא להשתחות לו׃

Mat 2:3 ויהי כשמע הורדוס המלך את־דבריהם ויחרד הוא וכל־ירושלים עמו׃

Mat 2:4 ויקהל את־כל־ראשי הכהנים וסופרי העם וישאל אתם לאמר איפה יולד המשיח׃

Mat 2:5 ויאמרו לו בבית־לחם יהודה כי־כן כתוב ביד הנביא׃

Mat 2:6 ואתה בית־לחם ארץ יהודה אינך צעיר באלפי יהודה כי ממך יצא מושל אשר ירעה את־עמי ישראל׃

Mat 2:7 אז קרא הורדוס למגושים בסתר ויחקר לדעת העת אשר נראה הכוכב׃

Mat 2:8 וישלחם בית־לחם ויאמר לכו חקרו היטב על־דבר הנער והיה כי־תמצאון אתו והגדתם לי ואבאה להשתחות־לו גם־אני׃

Mat 2:9 ויהי כשמעם את־דברי המלך וילכו והנה הכוכב אשר־ראו במזרח הלך לפניהם עד אשר־בא ויעמד ממעל לאשר־היה שם הילד׃

Mat 2:10 ויראו את־הכוכב וישמחו שמחה גדולה עד־מאד׃

Mat 2:11 ויבאו הביתה וימצאו את־הילד עם־מרים אמו ויפלו על־פניהם וישתחוו־לו ויפתחו את־אוצרותם ויקריבו לו מנחה זהב ולבונה ומר׃

Mat 2:12 ויצוו בחלום לבלתי שוב אל־הורדוס וילכו בדרך אחר אל־ארצם׃

Mat 2:13 הם הלכו משם והנה מלאך יהוה נראה אל־יוסף בחלום לאמר קום קח את־הילד ואת־אמו וברח־לך מצרימה והיה־שם עד־אם אמרתי אליך כי הורדוס מבקש את־נפש הנער לקחתה׃

Mat 2:14 ויקם ויקח את־הילד ואת־אמו לילה ויברח מצרימה׃

Mat 2:15 ויהי־שם עד מות הורדוס למלאת את־דבר יהוה ביד הנביא לאמר ממצרים קראתי לבני׃

Mat 2:16 וירא הורדוס כי התלו בו המגושים ויקצף מאד וישלח ויהרג את־כל־הילדים אשר בבית־לחם ובכל־גבוליה למבן־שנתים ולמטה לפי העת אשר חקר מפי המגושים׃

Mat 2:17 אז הוקם הנאמר בפי ירמיהו הנביא לאמר׃

Mat 2:18 קול ברמה נשמע נהי ובכי תמרורים רחל מבכה על־בניה מאנה להנחם על־בניה כי איננו׃

Mat 2:19 ויהי אחרי מות הורדוס והנה מלאך יהוה נראה בחלום אל־יוסף בארץ מצרים׃

Mat 2:20 ויאמר אליו קום קח את־הילד ואת־אמו ולך שוב אל־ארץ ישראל כי מתו המבקשים את־נפש הילד׃

Mat 2:21 ויקם ויקח את־הילד ואת־אמו ויבא ארצה ישראל׃

Mat 2:22 וכשמעו כי ארכלוס מלך ביהודה תחת הורדוס אביו ויירא ללכת שמה ויצוה בחלום וילך לו אל־ארצות הגליל׃

Mat 2:23 ויבא וישב בעיר הנקראת נצרת למלאת הדבר הנאמר על־פי הנביאים כי נצרי יקרא לו׃

Mat 1:1 The book of the genealogy of יהושע Messiah, Son of Dawiḏ, Son of Avraham:

Mat 1:2 Avraham brought forth Yitzchak, and Yitzchak brought forth Yaʽaqoḇ, and Yaʽaqoḇ brought forth Y’huḏah and his brothers.

Mat 1:3 And Y’huḏah brought forth Perets and Zeraḥ by Tamar, and Perets brought forth Ḥetsron, and Ḥetsron brought forth Ram.

Mat 1:4 And Ram brought forth Amminaḏaḇ, and Amminaḏaḇ brought forth Naḥshon, and Naḥshon brought forth Salmon.

Mat 1:5 And Salmon brought forth Boʽaz by Raḥaḇ, and Boʽaz brought forth Oḇĕḏ by Ruth, and Oḇĕḏ brought forth Yishai.

Mat 1:6 And Yishai brought forth Dawiḏ HaMelech, and Dawiḏ HaMelech brought forth Shelomoh by Uriyah’s wife.

Mat 1:7 And Shelomoh brought forth Reḥaḇʽam, and Reḥaḇʽam¹ brought forth Aḇiyah, and Aḇiyah brought forth Asa. Footnote: ¹His mother was an Ammorite - 1 Ki. 14:21,31.

Mat 1:8 And Asa brought forth Yehoshaphat, and Yehoshaphat brought forth Yoram, and Yoram brought forth Uzziyah.

Mat 1:9 And Uzziyah brought forth Yotham, and Yotham brought forth Aḥaz, and Aḥaz brought forth Ḥizqiyahu.

Mat 1:10 And Ḥizqiyahu brought forth Menashsheh, and Menashsheh brought forth Amon, and Amon brought forth Yoshiyahu.

Mat 1:11 And Yoshiyahu brought forth Yeḵonyah and his brothers at the time of the exile to Baḇel.

Mat 1:12 And after the exile to Baḇel, Yeḵonyah brought forth She’alti’ĕl, and She’alti’ĕl brought forth Zerubbaḇel.

Mat 1:13 And Zerubbaḇel brought forth Aḇihuḏ, and Aḇihuḏ brought forth Elyaqim, and Elyaqim brought forth Azor.

Mat 1:14 And Azor brought forth Tsaḏoq, and Tsaḏoq brought forth Aqim, and Aqim brought forth Elihuḏ.

Mat 1:15 And Elihuḏ brought forth Elʽazar, and Elʽazar brought forth Mattan, and Mattan brought forth Yaʽaqoḇ.

Mat 1:16 And Yaʽaqoḇ brought forth Yosĕph the father of Miryam, of whom was born יהושע who is called Moshiach.

Mat 1:17 So all the generations from Avraham to Dawiḏ were fourteen generations, and from Dawiḏ until the exile to Baḇel were fourteen generations, and from the exile to Baḇel until HaMoshiach were fourteen generations.

Mat 1:18 But the birth of יהושע HaMoshiach was as follows: After His mother Miryam was engaged to Yosĕph, before they came together, she was found to be pregnant from the Ruach HaKodesh.

Mat 1:19 And Yosĕph her husband, being righteous, and not wishing to make a show of her, had in mind to put her away secretly.

Mat 1:20 But while he thought about this, see, a messenger of יהוה appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Yosĕph, son of Dawiḏ, do not be afraid to take Miryam as your wife, for that which is in her was brought forth from the Ruach HaKodesh.

Mat 1:21 “And she shall give birth to a Son, and you shall call His Name יהושע for He shall save¹ His people from their sins.” Footnote: ¹This is the precise meaning of the Heḇrew of His Name.

Mat 1:22 And all this came to be in order to fill what was spoken by יהוה through the navi, saying,

Mat 1:23 “See, a maiden shall conceive, and she shall give birth to a Son, and they shall call His Name Immanu’ĕl,” which translated, means, “Ěl with us.”

Mat 1:24 And Yosĕph, awaking from his sleep, did as the messenger of יהוה commanded him and took his wife,

Mat 1:25 but knew her not until she gave birth to her Son, the first-born. And he called His Name יהושע.

Mat 2:1 And יהושע having been born in Bĕyth Leḥem of Y’huḏah in the days of Herodes HaMelech, see, Magi from the East came to Yerushalayim,

Mat 2:2 saying, “Where is He who has been born Sovereign of the Y’huḏim? For we saw His star in the East and have come to do reverence to Him.”

Mat 2:3 And Herodes HaMelech, having heard, was troubled, and all Yerushalayim with him.

Mat 2:4 And having gathered all the chief kohanim and scribes of the people together, he asked them where the Messiah was to be born.

Mat 2:5 And they said to him, “In Bĕyth Leḥem of Y’huḏah, for thus it has been written by the navi,

Mat 2:6 ‘But you, Bĕyth Leḥem, in the land of Y’huḏah, you are by no means least among the rulers of Y’huḏah, for out of you shall come a Ruler who shall shepherd My people Yisra’ĕl.’ ”¹ Footnote: ¹Mic. 5:2.

Mat 2:7 Then Herodes, having called the Magi secretly, learned exactly from them what time the star appeared.

Mat 2:8 And having sent them to Bĕyth Leḥem, he said, “Go and search diligently for the Child, and when you have found Him, bring back word to me, so that I too might go and do reverence to Him.”

Mat 2:9 And having heard the sovereign, they went. And see, the star which they had seen in the East went before them, until it came and stood over where the Child was.

Mat 2:10 And seeing the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy.

Mat 2:11 And coming into the house, they saw the Child with Miryam His mother, and fell down and did reverence to Him, and opening their treasures, they presented to Him gifts of gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.

Mat 2:12 And having been warned in a dream that they should not return to Herodes, they departed for their own country by another way.

Mat 2:13 And when they had left, see, a messenger of יהוה appeared to Yosĕph in a dream, saying, “Arise, take the Child and His mother, and flee to Mitsrayim, and remain there until I bring you word, for Herodes is about to seek the Child to destroy Him.”

Mat 2:14 And rising up, he took the Child and His mother by night and departed for Mitsrayim,

Mat 2:15 and remained there until the death of Herodes, to fill what was spoken by יהוה through the prophet, saying, “Out of Mitsrayim I have called My Son.”¹ Footnote:¹Ex. 4:22-23, Hos. 11:1, Rev. 21:7

Mat 2:16 Then Herodes, having seen that he was fooled by the Magi, was greatly enraged, and he sent forth and slew all the male children in Bĕyth Leḥem and in all its borders, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had exactly learnt from the Magi.

Mat 2:17 Then was filled what was spoken by Yirmeyahu the navi, saying,

Mat 2:18 “A voice was heard in Ramah, wailing and weeping, and great mourning – Raḥĕl weeping for her children, refusing to be comforted, because they were no more.”

Mat 2:19 And Herodes having died, see, a messenger of יהוה appeared in a dream to Yosĕph in Mitsrayim,

Mat 2:20 saying, “Arise, and take the Child and His mother, and go into the land of Yisra’ĕl, for those seeking the life of the Child are dead.”

Mat 2:21 And rising up, he took the Child and His mother, and came into the land of Yisra’ĕl.

Mat 2:22 But hearing that Archelaos was reigning over Yehuḏah instead of his father Herodes, he was afraid to go there. And having been warned in a dream, he departed to the parts of Galil,

Mat 2:23 and came and dwelt in a city called Natsareth – thus to fill what was spoken by the Nevi'im, “He shall be called a Natsarene.”

Yeshayahu 42:5 כה־אמר האל יהוה בורא השׁמים ונוטיהם רקע הארץ וצאצאיה נתן נשׁמה לעם עליה ורוח להלכים בה׃

Yeshayahu 42:6 אני יהוה קראתיך בצדק ואחזק בידך ואצרך ואתנך לברית עם לאור גוים׃

Yeshayahu 42:7 לפקח עינים עורות להוציא ממסגר אסיר מבית כלא ישׁבי חשׁך׃

Yeshayahu 42:8 אני יהוה הוא שׁמי וכבודי לאחר לא־אתן ותהלתי לפסילים׃

Yeshayahu 42:9 הראשׁנות הנה־באו וחדשׁות אני מגיד בטרם תצמחנה אשׁמיע אתכם׃

Yeshayahu 42:10 שׁירו ליהוה שׁיר חדשׁ תהלתו מקצה הארץ יורדי הים ומלאו איים וישׁביהם׃

Yeshayahu 42:13 יהוה כגבור יצא כאישׁ מלחמות יעיר קנאה יריע אף־יצריח על־איביו יתגבר׃

Yeshayahu 42:14 החשׁיתי מעולם אחרישׁ אתאפק כיולדה אפעה אשׁם ואשׁאף יחד׃

Yeshayahu 42:15 אחריב הרים וגבעות וכל־עשׂבם אובישׁ ושׂמתי נהרות לאיים ואגמים אובישׁ׃

Yeshayahu 42:16 והולכתי עורים בדרך לא ידעו בנתיבות לא־ידעו אדריכם אשׂים מחשׁך לפניהם לאור ומעקשׁים למישׁור אלה הדברים עשׂיתם ולא עזבתים׃

Yeshayahu 42:17 נסגו אחור יבשׁו בשׁת הבטחים בפסל האמרים למסכה אתם אלהינו׃

Yeshayahu 42:18 החרשׁים שׁמעו והעורים הביטו לראות׃

Yeshayahu 42:19 מי עור כי אם־עבדי וחרשׁ כמלאכי אשׁלח מי עור כמשׁלם ועור כעבד יהוה׃

Yeshayahu 42:20 ראית רבות ולא תשׁמר פקוח אזנים ולא ישׁמע׃

Yeshayahu 42:21 יהוה חפץ למען צדקו יגדיל תורה ויאדיר׃

Yeshayahu 42:22 והוא עם־בזוז ושׁסוי הפח בחורים כלם ובבתי כלאים החבאו היו לבז ואין מציל משׁסה ואין־אמר השׁב׃

Yeshayahu 42:23 מי בכם יאזין זאת יקשׁב וישׁמע לאחור׃

Yeshayahu 42:24 מי־נתן למשׁוסה יעקב וישׂראל לבזזים הלוא יהוה זו חטאנו לו ולא־אבו בדרכיו הלוך ולא שׁמעו בתורתו׃

Yeshayahu 42:25 וישׁפך עליו חמה אפו ועזוז מלחמה ותלהטהו מסביב ולא ידע ותבער־בו ולא־ישׂים על־לב׃

Yeshayahu 43:1 ועתה כה־אמר יהוה בראך יעקב ויצרך ישׂראל אל־תירא כי גאלתיך קראתי בשׁמך לי־אתה׃

Yeshayahu 43:2 כי־תעבר במים אתך־אני ובנהרות לא ישׁטפוך כי־תלך במו־אשׁ לא תכוה ולהבה לא תבער־בך׃

Yeshayahu 43:3 כי אני יהוה אלהיך קדושׁ ישׂראל מושׁיעך נתתי כפרך מצרים כושׁ וסבא תחתיך׃

Yeshayahu 43:4 מאשׁר יקרת בעיני נכבדת ואני אהבתיך ואתן אדם תחתיך ולאמים תחת נפשׁך׃

Yeshayahu 43:5 אל־תירא כי אתך־אני ממזרח אביא זרעך וממערב אקבצך׃

Yeshayahu 43:6 אמר לצפון תני ולתימן אל־תכלאי הביאי בני מרחוק ובנותי מקצה הארץ׃

Yeshayahu 43:7 כל הנקרא בשׁמי ולכבודי בראתיו יצרתיו אף־עשׂיתיו׃

Yeshayahu 43:8 הוציא עם־עור ועינים ישׁ וחרשׁים ואזנים למו׃

Yeshayahu 43:9 כל־הגוים נקבצו יחדו ויאספו לאמים מי בהם יגיד זאת וראשׁנות ישׁמיענו יתנו עדיהם ויצדקו וישׁמעו ויאמרו אמת׃

Yeshayahu 43:10 אתם עדי נאם־יהוה ועבדי אשׁר בחרתי למען תדעו ותאמינו לי ותבינו כי־אני הוא לפני לא־נוצר אל ואחרי לא יהיה׃

Yeshayahu 42:5 - 43:10

Yeshayahu 42:5 Thus said the Ěl, יהוה, who created the heavens and stretched them out, who spread forth the earth and that which comes from it, who gives breath to the people on it, and spirit to those who walk on it:

Yeshayahu 42:6 “I, יהוה, have called You in righteousness, and I take hold of Your hand and guard You, and give You for a covenant to a people, for a light to the gentiles,

Yeshayahu 42:7 to open blind eyes, to bring out prisoners from the prison, those who sit in darkness from the prison house.

Yeshayahu 42:8 “I am יהוה, that is My Name, and My esteem I do not give to another, nor My praise to idols.

Yeshayahu 42:9 “See, the former predictions have come, and new ones I am declaring; before they spring forth I let you hear them.”

Yeshayahu 42:10 Sing to יהוה a new song; His praise from the ends of the earth, you who go down to the sea, and all that is in it, you coastlands and you inhabitants of them!

Yeshayahu 42:11 Let the wilderness and its cities lift up their voice, the villages where Qĕḏar dwells. Let the inhabitants of Sela sing, let them shout from the top of the mountains.

Yeshayahu 42:12 Let them give esteem to יהוה, and declare His praise in the coastlands.

Yeshayahu 42:13 יהוה goes forth like a mighty man. He stirs up ardor like a fighter. He cries out, yea, shout aloud. Over His enemies He shows Himself mighty.

Yeshayahu 42:14 “I have kept silent from of old, I have been still and held Myself back. Like a woman in labor I now cry out, I pant and gasp at once.

Yeshayahu 42:15 “I lay waste mountains and hills, and I dry up all their plants. And I shall make rivers become coastlands, and I dry up pools.

Yeshayahu 42:16 “And I shall lead the blind by a way they have not known – in paths they have not known I lead them. I make darkness light before them, and crooked places straight. These matters I shall do for them, and I shall not forsake them.

Yeshayahu 42:17 “Those who trust in idols, who say to the molded images, ‘You are our mighty ones,’ shall be turned back, utterly ashamed.

Yeshayahu 42:18 “Hear, you deaf! And look, you blind, and see.

Yeshayahu 42:19 “Who is blind but My servant, or deaf as My messenger whom I send? Who is blind as he who is at peace, and blind as servant of יהוה?

Yeshayahu 42:20 “You see much, but do not observe; ears are open, but do not hear.”

Yeshayahu 42:21 It has delighted יהוה, for the sake of His righteousness, to make the Torah great and esteemed.

Yeshayahu 42:22 But this is a people robbed and plundered, all of them are snared in holes, and they are hidden in prison houses. They have become a prey, with no one to deliver – for plunder, and no one to say, “Restore!”

Yeshayahu 42:23 Who among you gives ear to this, pays attention and hears for the time to come?

Yeshayahu 42:24 Who gave Yaʽaqoḇ for plunder, and Yisra’ĕl to the robbers? Was it not יהוה, He against whom we sinned? For they would not walk in His ways, and they did not obey His Torah!

Yeshayahu 42:25 So He has poured on him His burning displeasure and the strength of battle, and it set him on fire all around, yet he did not understand. And it burned against him, yet he did not take it to heart!

Yeshayahu 43:1 But now, thus said יהוה, your Creator, O Yaʽaqoḇ, and He who formed you, O Yisra’ĕl, “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you. I have called you by your name, you are Mine.

Yeshayahu 43:2 “When you pass through the waters, I am with you; and through rivers, they do not overflow you. When you walk through fire, you are not scorched, and a flame does not burn you.

Yeshayahu 43:3 “For I am יהוה your Elohim, the Set-apart One of Yisra’ĕl, your Saviour; I gave Mitsrayim for your ransom, Kush and Seḇa in your place.

Yeshayahu 43:4 “Since you were precious in My eyes, you have been esteemed, and I have loved you. And I give men in your place, and peoples for your life.

Yeshayahu 43:5 “Do not fear, for I am with you. I shall bring your seed from the east, and gather you from the west.

Yeshayahu 43:6 “I shall say to the north, ‘Give them up!’ And to the south, ‘Do not keep them back!’ Bring My sons from afar, and My daughters from the ends of the earth –

Yeshayahu 43:7 all those who are called by My Name, whom I have created, formed, even made for My esteem.”

Yeshayahu 43:8 He shall bring out a blind people who have eyes, and deaf ones who have ears.

Yeshayahu 43:9 All the nations shall be assembled, and the peoples be gathered. Who among them declares this, and show us former events? Let them give their witnesses, to be declared right; or let them hear and say, “It is truth.”

Yeshayahu 43:10 “You are My witnesses,” declares יהוה, “And My servant whom I have chosen, so that you know and believe Me, and understand that I am He. Before Me there was no Ěl formed, nor after Me there is none.

B’reisheet 1:1 בראשׁית ברא אלהים את השׁמים ואת הארץ׃
B’reisheet 1:2 והארץ היתה תהו ובהו וחשׁך על־פני תהום ורוח אלהים מרחפת על־פני המים׃
B’reisheet 1:3 ויאמר אלהים יהי אור ויהי־אור׃
B’reisheet 1:4 וירא אלהים את־האור כי־טוב ויבדל אלהים בין האור ובין החשׁך׃
B’reisheet 1:5 ויקרא אלהים לאור יום ולחשׁך קרא לילה ויהי־ערב ויהי־בקר יום אחד׃
B’reisheet 1:6 ויאמר אלהים יהי רקיע בתוך המים ויהי מבדיל בין מים למים׃
B’reisheet 1:7 ויעשׂ אלהים את־הרקיע ויבדל בין המים אשׁר מתחת לרקיע ובין המים אשׁר מעל לרקיע ויהי־כן׃
B’reisheet 1:8 ויקרא אלהים לרקיע שׁמים ויהי־ערב ויהי־בקר יום שׁני׃
B’reisheet 1:9 ויאמר אלהים יקוו המים מתחת השׁמים אל־מקום אחד ותראה היבשׁה ויהי־כן׃
B’reisheet 1:10 ויקרא אלהים ליבשׁה ארץ ולמקוה המים קרא ימים וירא אלהים כי־טוב׃
B’reisheet 1:11 ויאמר אלהים תדשׁא הארץ דשׁא עשׂב מזריע זרע עץ פרי עשׂה פרי למינו אשׁר זרעו־בו על־הארץ ויהי־כן׃
B’reisheet 1:12 ותוצא הארץ דשׁא עשׂב מזריע זרע למינהו ועץ עשׂה־פרי אשׁר זרעו־בו למינהו וירא אלהים כי־טוב׃
B’reisheet 1:13 ויהי־ערב ויהי־בקר יום שׁלישׁי׃
B’reisheet 1:14 ויאמר אלהים יהי מארת ברקיע השׁמים להבדיל בין היום ובין הלילה והיו לאתת ולמועדים ולימים ושׁנים׃
B’reisheet 1:15 והיו למאורת ברקיע השׁמים להאיר על־הארץ ויהי־כן׃
B’reisheet 1:16 ויעשׂ אלהים את־שׁני המארת הגדלים את־המאור הגדל לממשׁלת היום ואת־המאור הקטן לממשׁלת הלילה ואת הכוכבים׃
B’reisheet 1:17 ויתן אתם אלהים ברקיע השׁמים להאיר על־הארץ׃
B’reisheet 1:18 ולמשׁל ביום ובלילה ולהבדיל בין האור ובין החשׁך וירא אלהים כי־טוב׃
B’reisheet 1:19 ויהי־ערב ויהי־בקר יום רביעי׃
B’reisheet 1:20 ויאמר אלהים ישׁרצו המים שׁרץ נפשׁ חיה ועוף יעופף על־הארץ על־פני רקיע השׁמים׃
B’reisheet 1:21 ויברא אלהים את־התנינם הגדלים ואת כל־נפשׁ החיה הרמשׂת אשׁר שׁרצו המים למינהם ואת כל־עוף כנף למינהו וירא אלהים כי־טוב׃
B’reisheet 1:22 ויברך אתם אלהים לאמר פרו ורבו ומלאו את־המים בימים והעוף ירב בארץ׃
B’reisheet 1:23 ויהי־ערב ויהי־בקר יום חמישׁי׃
B’reisheet 1:24 ויאמר אלהים תוצא הארץ נפשׁ חיה למינה בהמה ורמשׂ וחיתו־ארץ למינה ויהי־כן׃
B’reisheet 1:25 ויעשׂ אלהים את־חית הארץ למינה ואת־הבהמה למינה ואת כל־רמשׂ האדמה למינהו וירא אלהים כי־טוב׃
B’reisheet 1:26 ויאמר אלהים נעשׂה אדם בצלמנו כדמותנו וירדו בדגת הים ובעוף השׁמים ובבהמה ובכל־הארץ ובכל־הרמשׂ הרמשׂ על־הארץ׃
B’reisheet 1:27 ויברא אלהים את־האדם בצלמו בצלם אלהים ברא אתו זכר ונקבה ברא אתם׃
B’reisheet 1:28 ויברך אתם אלהים ויאמר להם אלהים פרו ורבו ומלאו את־הארץ וכבשׁה ורדו בדגת הים ובעוף השׁמים ובכל־חיה הרמשׂת על־הארץ׃
B’reisheet 1:29 ויאמר אלהים הנה נתתי לכם את־כל־עשׂב זרע זרע אשׁר על־פני כל־הארץ ואת־כל־העץ אשׁר־בו פרי־עץ זרע זרע לכם יהיה לאכלה׃
B’reisheet 1:30 ולכל־חית הארץ ולכל־עוף השׁמים ולכל רומשׂ על־הארץ אשׁר־בו נפשׁ חיה את־כל־ירק עשׂב לאכלה ויהי־כן׃
B’reisheet 1:31 וירא אלהים את־כל־אשׁר עשׂה והנה־טוב מאד ויהי־ערב ויהי־בקר יום השׁשׁי׃
B’reisheet 2:1 ויכלו השׁמים והארץ וכל־צבאם׃
B’reisheet 2:2 ויכל אלהים ביום השׁביעי מלאכתו אשׁר עשׂה וישׁבת ביום השׁביעי מכל־מלאכתו אשׁר עשׂה׃
B’reisheet 2:3 ויברך אלהים את־יום השׁביעי ויקדשׁ אתו כי בו שׁבת מכל־מלאכתו אשׁר־ברא אלהים לעשׂות׃
B’reisheet 2:4 אלה תולדות השׁמים והארץ בהבראם ביום עשׂות יהוה אלהים ארץ ושׁמים׃
B’reisheet 2:5 וכל שׂיח השׂדה טרם יהיה בארץ וכל־עשׂב השׂדה טרם יצמח כי לא המטיר יהוה אלהים על־הארץ ואדם אין לעבד את־האדמה׃
B’reisheet 2:6 ואד יעלה מן־הארץ והשׁקה את־כל־פני־האדמה׃
B’reisheet 2:7 וייצר יהוה אלהים את־האדם עפר מן־האדמה ויפח באפיו נשׁמת חיים ויהי האדם לנפשׁ חיה׃
B’reisheet 2:8 ויטע יהוה אלהים גן־בעדן מקדם וישׂם שׁם את־האדם אשׁר יצר׃
B’reisheet 2:9 ויצמח יהוה אלהים מן־האדמה כל־עץ נחמד למראה וטוב למאכל ועץ החיים בתוך הגן ועץ הדעת טוב ורע׃
B’reisheet 2:10 ונהר יצא מעדן להשׁקות את־הגן ומשׁם יפרד והיה לארבעה ראשׁים׃
B’reisheet 2:11 שׁם האחד פישׁון הוא הסבב את כל־ארץ החוילה אשׁר־שׁם הזהב׃
B’reisheet 2:12 וזהב הארץ ההוא טוב שׁם הבדלח ואבן השׁהם׃
B’reisheet 2:13 ושׁם־הנהר השׁני גיחון הוא הסובב את כל־ארץ כושׁ׃
B’reisheet 2:14 ושׁם הנהר השׁלישׁי חדקל הוא ההלך קדמת אשׁור והנהר הרביעי הוא פרת׃
B’reisheet 2:15 ויקח יהוה אלהים את־האדם וינחהו בגן־עדן לעבדה ולשׁמרה׃
B’reisheet 2:16 ויצו יהוה אלהים על־האדם לאמר מכל עץ־הגן אכל תאכל׃
B’reisheet 2:17 ומעץ הדעת טוב ורע לא תאכל ממנו כי ביום אכלך ממנו מות תמות׃
B’reisheet 2:18 ויאמר יהוה אלהים לא־טוב היות האדם לבדו אעשׂה־לו עזר כנגדו׃
B’reisheet 2:19 ויצר יהוה אלהים מן־האדמה כל־חית השׂדה ואת כל־עוף השׁמים ויבא אל־האדם לראות מה־יקרא־לו וכל אשׁר יקרא־לו האדם נפשׁ חיה הוא שׁמו׃
B’reisheet 2:20 ויקרא האדם שׁמות לכל־הבהמה ולעוף השׁמים ולכל חית השׂדה ולאדם לא־מצא עזר כנגדו׃
B’reisheet 2:21 ויפל יהוה אלהים תרדמה על־האדם ויישׁן ויקח אחת מצלעתיו ויסגר בשׂר תחתנה׃
B’reisheet 2:22 ויבן יהוה אלהים את־הצלע אשׁר־לקח מן־האדם לאשׁה ויבאה אל־האדם׃
B’reisheet 2:23 ויאמר האדם זאת הפעם עצם מעצמי ובשׂר מבשׂרי לזאת יקרא אשׁה כי מאישׁ לקחה־זאת׃
B’reisheet 2:24 על־כן יעזב־אישׁ את־אביו ואת־אמו ודבק באשׁתו והיו לבשׂר אחד׃
B’reisheet 2:25 ויהיו שׁניהם ערומים האדם ואשׁתו ולא יתבשׁשׁו׃
B’reisheet 3:1 והנחשׁ היה ערום מכל חית השׂדה אשׁר עשׂה יהוה אלהים ויאמר אל־האשׁה אף כי־אמר אלהים לא תאכלו מכל עץ הגן׃
B’reisheet 3:2 ותאמר האשׁה אל־הנחשׁ מפרי עץ־הגן נאכל׃
B’reisheet 3:3 ומפרי העץ אשׁר בתוך־הגן אמר אלהים לא תאכלו ממנו ולא תגעו בו פן־תמתון׃
B’reisheet 3:4 ויאמר הנחשׁ אל־האשׁה לא־מות תמתון׃
B’reisheet 3:5 כי ידע אלהים כי ביום אכלכם ממנו ונפקחו עיניכם והייתם כאלהים ידעי טוב ורע׃
B’reisheet 3:6 ותרא האשׁה כי טוב העץ למאכל וכי תאוה־הוא לעינים ונחמד העץ להשׂכיל ותקח מפריו ותאכל ותתן גם־לאישׁה עמה ויאכל׃
B’reisheet 3:7 ותפקחנה עיני שׁניהם וידעו כי עירמם הם ויתפרו עלה תאנה ויעשׂו להם חגרת׃
B’reisheet 3:8 וישׁמעו את־קול יהוה אלהים מתהלך בגן לרוח היום ויתחבא האדם ואשׁתו מפני יהוה אלהים בתוך עץ הגן׃
B’reisheet 3:9 ויקרא יהוה אלהים אל־האדם ויאמר לו איכה׃
B’reisheet 3:10 ויאמר את־קלך שׁמעתי בגן ואירא כי־עירם אנכי ואחבא׃
B’reisheet 3:11 ויאמר מי הגיד לך כי עירם אתה המן־העץ אשׁר צויתיך לבלתי אכל־ממנו אכלת׃
B’reisheet 3:12 ויאמר האדם האשׁה אשׁר נתתה עמדי הוא נתנה־לי מן־העץ ואכל׃
B’reisheet 3:13 ויאמר יהוה אלהים לאשׁה מה־זאת עשׂית ותאמר האשׁה הנחשׁ השׁיאני ואכל׃
B’reisheet 3:14 ויאמר יהוה אלהים אל־הנחשׁ כי עשׂית זאת ארור אתה מכל־הבהמה ומכל חית השׂדה על־גחנך תלך ועפר תאכל כל־ימי חייך׃
B’reisheet 3:15 ואיבה אשׁית בינך ובין האשׁה ובין זרעך ובין זרעה הוא ישׁופך ראשׁ ואתה תשׁופנו עקב׃
B’reisheet 3:16 אל־האשׁה אמר הרבה ארבה עצבונך והרנך בעצב תלדי בנים ואל־אישׁך תשׁוקתך והוא ימשׁל־בך׃
B’reisheet 3:17 ולאדם אמר כי־שׁמעת לקול אשׁתך ותאכל מן־העץ אשׁר צויתיך לאמר לא תאכל ממנו ארורה האדמה בעבורך בעצבון תאכלנה כל ימי חייך׃
B’reisheet 3:18 וקוץ ודרדר תצמיח לך ואכלת את־עשׂב השׂדה׃
B’reisheet 3:19 בזעת אפיך תאכל לחם עד שׁובך אל־האדמה כי ממנה לקחת כי־עפר אתה ואל־עפר תשׁוב׃
B’reisheet 3:20 ויקרא האדם שׁם אשׁתו חוה כי הוא היתה אם כל־חי׃
B’reisheet 3:21 ויעשׂ יהוה אלהים לאדם ולאשׁתו כתנות עור וילבשׁם׃
B’reisheet 3:22 ויאמר יהוה אלהים הן האדם היה כאחד ממנו לדעת טוב ורע ועתה פן־ישׁלח ידו ולקח גם מעץ החיים ואכל וחי לעלם׃
B’reisheet 3:23 וישׁלחהו יהוה אלהים מגן־עדן לעבד את־האדמה אשׁר לקח משׁם׃
B’reisheet 3:24 ויגרשׁ את־האדם וישׁכן מקדם לגן־עדן את־הכרבים ואת להט החרב המתהפכת לשׁמר את־דרך עץ החיים׃
B’reisheet 4:1 והאדם ידע את־חוה אשׁתו ותהר ותלד את־קין ותאמר קניתי אישׁ את־יהוה׃
B’reisheet 4:2 ותסף ללדת את־אחיו את־הבל ויהי־הבל רעה צאן וקין היה עבד אדמה׃
B’reisheet 4:3 ויהי מקץ ימים ויבא קין מפרי האדמה מנחה ליהוה׃
B’reisheet 4:4 והבל הביא גם־הוא מבכרות צאנו ומחלבהן וישׁע יהוה אל־הבל ואל־מנחתו׃
B’reisheet 4:5 ואל־קין ואל־מנחתו לא שׁעה ויחר לקין מאד ויפלו פניו׃
B’reisheet 4:6 ויאמר יהוה אל־קין למה חרה לך ולמה נפלו פניך׃
B’reisheet 4:7 הלוא אם־תיטיב שׂאת ואם לא תיטיב לפתח חטאת רבץ ואליך תשׁוקתו ואתה תמשׁל־בו׃
B’reisheet 4:8 ויאמר קין אל־הבל אחיו ויהי בהיותם בשׂדה ויקם קין אל־הבל אחיו ויהרגהו׃
B’reisheet 4:9 ויאמר יהוה אל־קין אי הבל אחיך ויאמר לא ידעתי השׁמר אחי אנכי׃
B’reisheet 4:10 ויאמר מה עשׂית קול דמי אחיך צעקים אלי מן־האדמה׃
B’reisheet 4:11 ועתה ארור אתה מן־האדמה אשׁר פצתה את־פיה לקחת את־דמי אחיך מידך׃
B’reisheet 4:12 כי תעבד את־האדמה לא־תסף תת־כחה לך נע ונד תהיה בארץ׃
B’reisheet 4:13 ויאמר קין אל־יהוה גדול עוני מנשׂוא׃
B’reisheet 4:14 הן גרשׁת אתי היום מעל פני האדמה ומפניך אסתר והייתי נע ונד בארץ והיה כל־מצאי יהרגני׃
B’reisheet 4:15 ויאמר לו יהוה לכן כל־הרג קין שׁבעתים יקם וישׂם יהוה לקין אות לבלתי הכות־אתו כל־מצאו׃
B’reisheet 4:16 ויצא קין מלפני יהוה וישׁב בארץ־נוד קדמת־עדן׃
B’reisheet 4:17 וידע קין את־אשׁתו ותהר ותלד את־חנוך ויהי בנה עיר ויקרא שׁם העיר כשׁם בנו חנוך׃
B’reisheet 4:18 ויולד לחנוך את־עירד ועירד ילד את־מחויאל ומחייאל ילד את־מתושׁאל ומתושׁאל ילד את־למך׃
B’reisheet 4:19 ויקח־לו למך שׁתי נשׁים שׁם האחת עדה ושׁם השׁנית צלה׃
B’reisheet 4:20 ותלד עדה את־יבל הוא היה אבי ישׁב אהל ומקנה׃
B’reisheet 4:21 ושׁם אחיו יובל הוא היה אבי כל־תפשׂ כנור ועוגב׃
B’reisheet 4:22 וצלה גם־הוא ילדה את־תובל קין לטשׁ כל־חרשׁ נחשׁת וברזל ואחות תובל־קין נעמה׃
B’reisheet 4:23 ויאמר למך לנשׁיו עדה וצלה שׁמען קולי נשׁי למך האזנה אמרתי כי אישׁ הרגתי לפצעי וילד לחברתי׃
B’reisheet 4:24 כי שׁבעתים יקם־קין ולמך שׁבעים ושׁבעה׃
B’reisheet 4:25 וידע אדם עוד את־אשׁתו ותלד בן ותקרא את־שׁמו שׁת כי שׁת־לי אלהים זרע אחר תחת הבל כי הרגו קין׃
B’reisheet 4:26 ולשׁת גם־הוא ילד־בן ויקרא את־שׁמו אנושׁ אז הוחל לקרא בשׁם יהוה׃
B’reisheet 5:1 זה ספר תולדת אדם ביום ברא אלהים אדם בדמות אלהים עשׂה אתו׃
B’reisheet 5:2 זכר ונקבה בראם ויברך אתם ויקרא את־שׁמם אדם ביום הבראם׃
B’reisheet 5:3 ויחי אדם שׁלשׁים ומאת שׁנה ויולד בדמותו כצלמו ויקרא את־שׁמו שׁת׃

B’reisheet 5:23 ויהי כל־ימי חנוך חמשׁ ושׁשׁים שׁנה ושׁלשׁ מאות שׁנה׃
B’reisheet 5:24 ויתהלך חנוך את־האלהים ואיננו כי־לקח אתו אלהים׃
B’reisheet 5:25 ויחי מתושׁלח שׁבע ושׁמנים שׁנה ומאת שׁנה ויולד את־למך׃
B’reisheet 5:26 ויחי מתושׁלח אחרי הולידו את־למך שׁתים ושׁמונים שׁנה ושׁבע מאות שׁנה ויולד בנים ובנות׃

B’reisheet 5:29 ויקרא את־שׁמו נח לאמר זה ינחמנו ממעשׂנו ומעצבון ידינו מן־האדמה אשׁר אררה יהוה׃
B’reisheet 5:30 ויחי־למך אחרי הולידו את־נח חמשׁ ותשׁעים שׁנה וחמשׁ מאת שׁנה ויולד בנים ובנות׃
B’reisheet 5:31 ויהי כל־ימי־למך שׁבע ושׁבעים שׁנה ושׁבע מאות שׁנה וימת׃
B’reisheet 5:32 ויהי־נח בן־חמשׁ מאות שׁנה ויולד נח את־שׁם את־חם ואת־יפת׃
B’reisheet 6:1 ויהי כי־החל האדם לרב על־פני האדמה ובנות ילדו להם׃
B’reisheet 6:2 ויראו בני־האלהים את־בנות האדם כי טבת הנה ויקחו להם נשׁים מכל אשׁר בחרו׃
B’reisheet 6:3 ויאמר יהוה לא־ידון רוחי באדם לעלם בשׁגם הוא בשׂר והיו ימיו מאה ועשׂרים שׁנה׃
B’reisheet 6:4 הנפלים היו בארץ בימים ההם וגם אחרי־כן אשׁר יבאו בני האלהים אל־בנות האדם וילדו להם המה הגברים אשׁר מעולם אנשׁי השׁם׃
B’reisheet 6:5 וירא יהוה כי רבה רעת האדם בארץ וכל־יצר מחשׁבת לבו רק רע כל־היום׃
B’reisheet 6:6 וינחם יהוה כי־עשׂה את־האדם בארץ ויתעצב אל־לבו׃
B’reisheet 6:7 ויאמר יהוה אמחה את־האדם אשׁר־בראתי מעל פני האדמה מאדם עד־בהמה עד־רמשׂ ועד־עוף השׁמים כי נחמתי כי עשׂיתם׃

B’reisheet 1:1 In the beginning Elohim created the heavens and the earth.

B’reisheet 1:2 And the earth came to be¹ formless and empty, and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of Elohim was moving on the face of the waters. Footnote: ¹Or the earth became.

B’reisheet 1:3 And Elohim said, “Let light come to be,” and light came to be.

B’reisheet 1:4 And Elohim saw the light, that it was good. And Elohim separated the light from the darkness.

B’reisheet 1:5 And Elohim called the light ‘day’ and the darkness He called ‘night.’ And there came to be evening and there came to be morning, the first day.

B’reisheet 1:6 And Elohim said, “Let an expanse come to be in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters.”

B’reisheet 1:7 And Elohim made the expanse, and separated the waters which were under the expanse from the waters which were above the expanse. And it came to be so.

B’reisheet 1:8 And Elohim called the expanse ‘heavens.’ And there came to be evening and there came to be morning, the second day.

B’reisheet 1:9 And Elohim said, “Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear.” And it came to be so.

B’reisheet 1:10 And Elohim called the dry land ‘earth,’ and the collection of the waters He called ‘seas.’ And Elohim saw that it was good.

B’reisheet 1:11 And Elohim said, “Let the earth bring forth grass, the plant that yields seed, and the fruit tree that yields fruit according to its kind, whose seed is in itself, on the earth.” And it came to be so.

B’reisheet 1:12 And the earth brought forth grass, the plant that yields seed according to its kind, and the tree that yields fruit, whose seed is in itself according to its kind. And Elohim saw that it was good.

B’reisheet 1:13 And there came to be evening and there came to be morning, the third day.

B’reisheet 1:14 And Elohim said, “Let lights come to be in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be for signs and appointed times, and for days and years,

B’reisheet 1:15 and let them be for lights in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth.” And it came to be so.

B’reisheet 1:16 And Elohim made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night, and the stars.

B’reisheet 1:17 And Elohim set them in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth,

B’reisheet 1:18 and to rule over the day and over the night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And Elohim saw that it was good.

B’reisheet 1:19 And there came to be evening and there came to be morning, the fourth day.

B’reisheet 1:20 And Elohim said, “Let the waters teem with shoals of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth on the face of the expanse of the heavens.”

B’reisheet 1:21 And Elohim created great sea creatures and every living creature that moves, with which the waters teemed, according to their kind, and every winged bird according to its kind. And Elohim saw that it was good.

B’reisheet 1:22 And Elohim blessed them, saying, “Bear fruit and increase, and fill the waters in the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth.”

B’reisheet 1:23 And there came to be evening and there came to be morning, the fifth day.

B’reisheet 1:24 And Elohim said, “Let the earth bring forth the living creature according to its kind: livestock and creeping creatures and beasts of the earth, according to its kind.” And it came to be so.

B’reisheet 1:25 And Elohim made the beast of the earth according to its kind, livestock according to its kind, and all that creep on the earth according to its kind. And Elohim saw that it was good.

B’reisheet 1:26 And Elohim said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the heavens, and over the livestock, and over all the earth and over all the creeping creatures that creep on the earth.”

B’reisheet 1:27 And Elohim created the man in His image, in the image of Elohim He created him – male and female He created them.

B’reisheet 1:28 And Elohim blessed them, and Elohim said to them, “Bear fruit and increase, and fill the earth and subdue it, and rule over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the heavens, and over all creatures moving on the earth.”

B’reisheet 1:29 And Elohim said, “See, I have given you every plant that yields seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed, to you it is for food.

B’reisheet 1:30 “And to every beast of the earth, and to every bird of the heavens, and to every creeping creature on the earth, in which there is life, every green plant is for food.” And it came to be so.

B’reisheet 1:31 And Elohim saw all that He had made, and see, it was very good. And there came to be evening and there came to be morning, the sixth day.

B’reisheet 2:1 Thus the heavens and the earth were completed, and all their array.

B’reisheet 2:2 And on the seventh day Elohim completed His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had made.

B’reisheet 2:3 And Elohim blessed the seventh day and set it apart, because on it He rested from all His work which Elohim in creating had made.

B’reisheet 2:4 These are the births of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day that יהוה Elohim made earth and heavens.

B’reisheet 2:5 Now no shrub of the field was yet on the earth, and no plant of the field had yet sprung up, for יהוה Elohim had not sent rain on the earth, and there was no man to till the ground,

B’reisheet 2:6 but a mist went up from the earth and watered the entire surface of the ground.

B’reisheet 2:7 And יהוה Elohim formed the man out of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils breath of life. And the man became a living being.

B’reisheet 2:8 And יהוה Elohim planted a garden in Ěḏen, to the east, and there He put the man whom He had formed.

B’reisheet 2:9 And out of the ground יהוה Elohim made every tree grow that is pleasant to the sight and good for food, with the tree of life in the midst of the garden and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

B’reisheet 2:10 And a river went out of Ěḏen to water the garden, and from there it divided and became four riverheads.

B’reisheet 2:11 The name of the first is Pishon, it is the one surrounding the entire land of Ḥawilah, where there is gold.

B’reisheet 2:12 And the gold of that land is good. Bdellium is there, and the shoham stone.

B’reisheet 2:13 And the name of the second river is Giḥon, it is the one surrounding the entire land of Kush.

B’reisheet 2:14 And the name of the third river is Ḥiddeqel, it is the one which goes toward the east of Ashshur. And the fourth river is the Euphrates.

B’reisheet 2:15 And יהוה Elohim took the man and put him in the garden of Ěḏen to work it and to guard it.

B’reisheet 2:16 And יהוה Elohim commanded the man, saying, “Eat of every tree of the garden,

B’reisheet 2:17 but do not eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for in the day that you eat of it you shall certainly die.”

B’reisheet 2:18 And יהוה Elohim said, “It is not good for the man to be alone, I am going to make a helper for him, as his counterpart.”

B’reisheet 2:19 And from the ground יהוה Elohim formed every beast of the field and every bird of the heavens, and brought them to the man to see what he would call them. And whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name.

B’reisheet 2:20 So the man gave names to all livestock, and to the birds of the heavens, and to every beast of the field. But for the man there was not found a helper for him, as his counterpart.

B’reisheet 2:21 So יהוה Elohim caused a deep sleep to fall on the man, and he slept. And He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place.

B’reisheet 2:22 And the rib which יהוה Elohim had taken from the man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man.

B’reisheet 2:23 And the man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh. This one is called ‘woman,’ because she was taken out of man.”

B’reisheet 2:24 For this cause a man shall leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.

B’reisheet 2:25 And they were both naked, the man and his wife, yet they were not ashamed.

B’reisheet 3:1 And the serpent was more crafty than any beast of the field which יהוה Elohim had made, and he said to the woman, “Is it true that Elohim has said, ‘Do not eat of every tree of the garden’?”

B’reisheet 3:2 And the woman said to the serpent, “We are to eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden,

B’reisheet 3:3 but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, Elohim has said, ‘Do not eat of it, nor touch it, lest you die.’ ”

B’reisheet 3:4 And the serpent said to the woman, “You shall certainly not die.

B’reisheet 3:5 “For Elohim knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes shall be opened, and you shall be like Elohim, knowing good and evil.”

B’reisheet 3:6 And the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, and she took of its fruit and ate. And she also gave to her husband with her, and he ate.

B’reisheet 3:7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked. And they sewed fig leaves together and made loin coverings for themselves.

B’reisheet 3:8 And they heard the sound of יהוה Elohim walking about in the garden in the cool of the day, and Aḏam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of יהוה Elohim among the trees of the garden.

B’reisheet 3:9 And יהוה Elohim called unto Aḏam and said to him, “Where are you?”

B’reisheet 3:10 And he said, “I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked, so I hid myself.”

B’reisheet 3:11 And He said, “Who made you know that you were naked? Have you eaten of the tree of which I commanded you that you should not eat?”

B’reisheet 3:12 And the man said, “The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree and I ate.”

B’reisheet 3:13 And יהוה Elohim said to the woman, “What is this you have done?” And the woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”

B’reisheet 3:14 And יהוה Elohim said to the serpent, “Because you have done this, you are cursed more than all livestock and more than every beast of the field. On your belly you are to go, and eat dust all the days of your life.

B’reisheet 3:15 “And I put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed¹. He shall crush your head, and you shall crush His heel.” Footnote: ¹First promise of the Messiah.

B’reisheet 3:16 To the woman He said, “I greatly increase your sorrow and your conception – bring forth children in pain. And your desire is for your husband, and he does rule over you.”

B’reisheet 3:17 And to the man He said, “Because you have listened to the voice of your wife, and have eaten of the tree of which I commanded you, saying, ‘Do not eat of it’: “Cursed is the ground because of you, in toil you are to eat of it all the days of your life,

B’reisheet 3:18 and the ground shall bring forth thorns and thistles for you, and you shall eat the plants of the field.

B’reisheet 3:19 “By the sweat of your face you are to eat bread until you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken. For dust you are, and to dust you return.”

B’reisheet 3:20 And the man called his wife’s name Ḥawwah, because she became the mother of all living.

B’reisheet 3:21 And יהוה Elohim made coats of skin for the man and his wife and dressed them.

B’reisheet 3:22 And יהוה Elohim said, “See, the man has become like one of Us, to know good and evil. And now, lest he put out his hand and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever...”

B’reisheet 3:23 so יהוה Elohim sent him out of the garden of Ěḏen to till the ground from which he was taken,

B’reisheet 3:24 and He drove the man out. And He placed keruḇim at the east of the garden of Ěḏen, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to guard the way to the tree of life.

B’reisheet 4:1 And Aḏam knew Ḥawwah his wife, and she conceived and bore Qayin, and said, “I have gained a man from יהוה.”

B’reisheet 4:2 And again, she gave birth to his brother Heḇel. And Heḇel became a keeper of sheep, but Qayin became a tiller of the ground.

B’reisheet 4:3 And it came to be, in the course of time, that Qayin brought an offering of the fruit of the ground to יהוה.

B’reisheet 4:4 And Heḇel also brought of the first-born of his flock and of their fat. And יהוה looked to Heḇel and his offering,

B’reisheet 4:5 but He did not look to Qayin and his offering. And Qayin was very wroth, and his face fell.

B’reisheet 4:6 And יהוה said to Qayin, “Why are you wroth? And why is your face fallen?

B’reisheet 4:7 “If you do well, is there not acceptance? And if you do not do well, sin¹ is crouching at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should master it.” Footnote: ¹Sin (transgression of the law) was already then known, as we also read in 39:9.

B’reisheet 4:8 And Qayin told Heḇel his brother. And it came to be when they were in the field, that Qayin rose up against Heḇel his brother and killed him.

B’reisheet 4:9 And יהוה said to Qayin, “Where is Heḇel your brother?” And he said, “I do not know. Am I my brother’s guard?”

B’reisheet 4:10 And He said, “What have you done? The voice of your brother’s blood cries out to Me from the ground.

B’reisheet 4:11 “And now you are cursed from the earth, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand.

B’reisheet 4:12 “If you till the ground, it shall no longer yield its strength to you. You shall be a fugitive and a wanderer on the earth.”

B’reisheet 4:13 And Qayin said to יהוה, “My punishment is too great to bear!

B’reisheet 4:14 “See, You have driven me from the face of the ground today, and I am hidden from Your face. I shall be a fugitive and a wanderer on the earth, and it shall be that anyone who finds me kills me.”

B’reisheet 4:15 And יהוה said to him, “Well, if anyone kills Qayin, vengeance is taken on him sevenfold.” And יהוה set up a sign for Qayin, lest anyone finding him kills him.

B’reisheet 4:16 So Qayin went out from the presence of יהוה and dwelt in the land of Noḏ on the east of Ěḏen.

B’reisheet 4:17 And Qayin knew his wife, and she conceived and bore Ḥanoḵ. And he built a city, and called the name of the city after the name of his son, Ḥanoḵ.

B’reisheet 4:18 And to Ḥanoḵ was born Iraḏ. And Iraḏ brought forth Meḥuya’ĕl, and Meḥuya’ĕl brought forth Methusa’ĕl, and Methusa’ĕl brought forth Lemeḵ.

B’reisheet 4:19 And Lemeḵ took for himself two wives, the name of one was Aḏah, and the name of the second was Tsillah.

B’reisheet 4:20 And Aḏah bore Yaḇal. He was the father of those who dwell in tents, with livestock.

B’reisheet 4:21 And his brother’s name was Yuḇal. He was the father of all those who play the lyre and flute.

B’reisheet 4:22 As for Tsillah, she also bore Tuḇal-Qayin, a smith of all kinds of tools in bronze and iron. And the sister of Tuḇal-Qayin was Naʽamah.

B’reisheet 4:23 And Lemeḵ said to his wives, “Aḏah and Tsillah, hear my voice! Wives of Lemeḵ, listen to my words! For I have killed a man for wounding me, even a young man for hurting me.

B’reisheet 4:24 “For Qayin is avenged sevenfold, and Lemeḵ seventy-sevenfold.”

B’reisheet 4:25 And Aḏam knew his wife again, and she bore a son and called his name Shĕth, “For Elohim has appointed me another seed instead of Heḇel, because Qayin had slain him.”

B’reisheet 4:26 And to Shĕth, to him also a son was born. And he called his name Enosh. Then it was begun to call on the Name of יהוה¹. Footnote: ¹The first record of “calling on the Name of יהוה”

B’reisheet 5:1 This is the book of the genealogy of Aḏam. In the day that Elohim created man, He made him in the likeness of Elohim.

B’reisheet 5:2 Male and female He created them, and He blessed them, and called their name ‘Aḏam’ in the day they were created.

B’reisheet 5:3 And Aḏam lived one hundred and thirty years, and brought forth a son in his own likeness, after his image, and called his name Shĕth.

B’reisheet 5:4 And after he brought forth Shĕth, the days of Aḏam were eight hundred years. And he brought forth sons and daughters.

B’reisheet 5:5 So all the days that Aḏam lived were nine hundred and thirty years, and he died.

B’reisheet 5:6 And Shĕth lived one hundred and five years, and brought forth Enosh.

B’reisheet 5:7 And after he brought forth Enosh, Shĕth lived eight hundred and seven years, and brought forth sons and daughters.

B’reisheet 5:8 So all the days of Shĕth were nine hundred and twelve years, and he died.

B’reisheet 5:9 And Enosh lived ninety years, and brought forth Qĕynan.

B’reisheet 5:10 And after he brought forth Qĕynan, Enosh lived eight hundred and fifteen years, and brought forth sons and daughters.

B’reisheet 5:11 So all the days of Enosh were nine hundred and five years, and he died.

B’reisheet 5:12 And Qĕynan lived seventy years, and brought forth Mahalal’ĕl.

B’reisheet 5:13 After he brought forth Mahalal’ĕl, Qĕynan lived eight hundred and forty years, and brought forth sons and daughters.

B’reisheet 5:14 So all the days of Qĕynan were nine hundred and ten years, and he died.

B’reisheet 5:15 And Mahalal’ĕl lived sixty-five years, and brought forth Yereḏ.

B’reisheet 5:16 And after he brought forth Yereḏ, Mahalal’ĕl lived eight hundred and thirty years, and brought forth sons and daughters.

B’reisheet 5:17 So all the days of Mahalal’ĕl were eight hundred and ninety-five years, and he died.

B’reisheet 5:18 And Yereḏ lived one hundred and sixty-two years, and brought forth Ḥanoḵ.

B’reisheet 5:19 And after he brought forth Ḥanoḵ, Yereḏ lived eight hundred years, and brought forth sons and daughters.

B’reisheet 5:20 So all the days of Yereḏ were nine hundred and sixty-two years, and he died.

B’reisheet 5:21 And Ḥanoḵ lived sixty-five years, and brought forth Methushelaḥ.

B’reisheet 5:22 And after he brought forth Methushelaḥ, Ḥanoḵ walked with Elohim three hundred years, and brought forth sons and daughters.

B’reisheet 5:23 So all the days of Ḥanoḵ were three hundred and sixty-five years.

B’reisheet 5:24 And Ḥanoḵ walked with Elohim. Then he was no more, for Elohim took him.

B’reisheet 5:25 And Methushelaḥ lived one hundred and eighty-seven years, and brought forth Lemeḵ.

B’reisheet 5:26 And after he brought forth Lemeḵ, Methushelaḥ lived seven hundred and eighty-two years, and brought forth sons and daughters.

B’reisheet 5:27 So all the days of Methushelaḥ were nine hundred and sixty-nine years, and he died.

B’reisheet 5:28 And Lemeḵ lived one hundred and eighty-two years, and brought forth a son,

B’reisheet 5:29 and called his name Noaḥ, saying, “This one does comfort us concerning our work and the toil of our hands, because of the ground which יהוה has cursed.”

B’reisheet 5:30 And after he brought forth Noaḥ, Lemeḵ lived five hundred and ninety-five years, and brought forth sons and daughters.

B’reisheet 5:31 So all the days of Lemeḵ were seven hundred and seventy-seven years, and he died.

B’reisheet 5:32 And Noaḥ was five hundred years old, and Noaḥ brought forth Shĕm, Ḥam, and Yepheth.

B’reisheet 6:1 And it came to be, when men began to increase on the face of the earth, and daughters were born to them,

B’reisheet 6:2 that the sons of Elohim saw the daughters of men, that they were good. And they took wives for themselves of all whom they chose.

B’reisheet 6:3 And יהוה said, “My Spirit shall not strive with man forever in his going astray. He is flesh, and his days shall be one hundred and twenty years.”

B’reisheet 6:4 The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of Elohim came in to the daughters of men and they bore children to them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, the men of name.

B’reisheet 6:5 And יהוה saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

B’reisheet 6:6 And יהוה was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart.

B’reisheet 6:7 And יהוה said, “I am going to wipe off man whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man and beast, creeping creature and birds of the heavens, for I am sorry that I have made them.”

B’reisheet 6:8 But Noaḥ found favor in the eyes of יהוה.
