Mat 13:1 ויהי ביום ההוא ויצא ישוע מן־הבית וישב על־הים׃
Mat 13:2 ויקהלו אליו המון עם רב וירד אל־האניה וישב בה וכל־העם עמדים על־שפת הים׃
Mat 13:3 וירב לדבר אליהם במשלים לאמר הנה הזורע יצא לזרע׃
Mat 13:4 ויזרע ויפל מן־הזרע על־יד הדרך ויבאו העוף ויאכלהו׃
Mat 13:5 ויש אשר נפל על־מקם הסלעים אשר אין שם אדמה הרבה וימהר לצמח כי אין לו עמק אדמה׃
Mat 13:6 ויהי כזרח השמש ויצרב וייבש כי אין־לו שרש׃
Mat 13:7 ויש אשר נפל בין הקצים ויעלו הקצים וימעכהו׃
Mat 13:8 ויש אשר נפל על־האדמה הטובה ויתן פרי זה מאה שערים וזה ששים וזה שלשים׃
Mat 13:9 מי אשר לו אזנים לשמע ישמע׃
Mat 13:10 ויגשו אליו התלמידים ויאמרו למה זה במשלים תדבר אליהם׃
Mat 13:11 ויען ויאמר כי לכם נתן לדעת את־סודות מלכות השמים ולהם לא נתן׃
Mat 13:12 כי מי שיש־לו נתן ינתן לו ויעדיף ומי שאין לו גם מה־שיש־לו ינטל ממנו׃
Mat 13:13 על־כן במשלים אדבר אליהם כי בראתם לא יראו ובשמעם לא ישמעו אף־לא יבינו׃
Mat 13:14 ותקים בהם נבואת ישעיהו האמרת שמעו שמוע ואל־תבינו וראו ראו ואל־תדעו׃
Mat 13:15 כי השמן לב־העם הזה ואזניו הכבד ועיניו השע פן־יראה בעיניו ובאזניו ישמע ולבבו יבין ושב ורפא לו׃
Mat 13:16 ואתם אשרי עיניכם כי תראינה ואזניכם כי תשמענה׃
Mat 13:17 כי־אמן אמר אני לכם נביאים וצדיקים רבים נכספו לראת את אשר אתם ראים ולא ראו ולשמע את אשר אתם שמעים ולא שמעו׃
Mat 13:18 לכן אתם שמעו־נא את משל הזורע׃
Mat 13:19 כל־איש שמע את־דבר המלכות ולא יבינהו ובא הרע וחטף את־הזרוע בלבבו הוא הנזרע על־יד הדרך׃
Mat 13:20 והנזרע על־מקום הסלעים הוא השמע את־הדבר ומיד יקחנו בשמחה׃
Mat 13:21 ולו אין שרש תחתיו ויקום רק לשעה ובהיות צרה ורדיפה בגלל הדבר יכשל כרגע׃
Mat 13:22 והנזרע אל־הקצים הוא השמע את־הדבר ודאגת העולם הזה ונכלי העשר ימעכו את־הדבר ופרי לא־יהיה לו׃
Mat 13:23 והנזרע על־האדמה הטובה הוא השמע את־הדבר ומבין אתו אף־יעשה פרי ונתן זה מאה שערים וזה ששים וזה שלשים׃
Mat 13:24 וישם לפניהם משל אחר ויאמר מלכות השמים דומה לאדם אשר זרע זרע טוב בשדהו׃
Mat 13:25 ויהי בהיות האנשים ישנים ויבא איבו ויזרע זונין בין החטים וילך לו׃
Mat 13:26 וכאשר פרח הדשא ויעש פרי ויראו גם־הזונין׃
Mat 13:27 ויגשו עבדי בעל־הבית ויאמרו אליו אדנינו הלא־זרע טוב זרעת בשדך ומאין לו הזונין׃
Mat 13:28 ויאמר להם איש איב עשה זאת ויאמרו אליו העבדים התחפץ כי־נלך ונלקט אתם׃
Mat 13:29 ויאמר לא פן־תלקטו את־הזונין ושרשתם גם את־החטים׃
Mat 13:30 הניחו אתם ויגדלו שניהם יחד עד־הקציר והיה בעת הקציר ואמרתי לקוצרים לקטו בראשונה את־הזונין ואגדו אתם אגדות לשרפם ואת החטים אספו לאוצרי׃
Mat 13:31 וישם לפניהם משל אחר ויאמר מלכות השמים דומה לגרגר של־חרדל אשר לקחו איש ויזרע בשדהו׃
Mat 13:32 והוא קטן מכל־הזרועים וכאשר צמח גדול הוא מן־הירקות והיה לעץ עד־אשר יבאו עוף השמים וקננו בענפיו׃
Mat 13:33 וישא עוד משלו ויאמר אליהם מלכות השמים דומה לשאר אשר לקחתו אשה ותטמן בשלש סאים קמח עד כי־יחמץ כלו׃
Mat 13:34 כל־אלה דבר ישוע במשלים אל־המון העם ובבלי משל לא דבר אליהם דבר׃
Mat 13:35 למלאת את אשר דבר הנביא לאמר אפתחה במשל פי אביעה חידות מני־קדם׃
Mat 13:36 אז שלח ישוע את־המון העם ויבא הביתה ויגשו אליו תלמידיו ויאמרו באר־נא לנו את־משל זוני השדה׃
Mat 13:37 ויען ויאמר אליהם הזורע את־הזרע הטוב הוא בן־האדם׃
Mat 13:38 והשדה הוא העולם והזרע הטוב בני המלכות הם והזונין בני הרע המה׃
Mat 13:39 והאיב אשר זרעם הוא השטן והקציר הוא קץ העולם והקצרים הם המלאכים׃
Mat 13:40 והנה כאשר ילקטו הזונין ונשרפו באש כן יהיה לקץ העולם הזה׃
Mat 13:41 בן־האדם ישלח את־מלאכיו ולקטו ממלכותו את כל־המכשלות ואת כל־פעלי האון׃
Mat 13:42 והשליכו אתם אל־תנור האש שם תהיה היללה וחרק השנים׃
Mat 13:43 אז יזהירו הצדיקים כשמש במלכות אביהם מי אשר לו אזנים לשמע ישמע׃
Mat 13:44 עוד דומה מלכות השמים לאוצר טמון בשדה אשר מצאו איש ויטמנהו ובשמחתו ילך ומכר את־כל־אשר־לו וקנה את־השדה ההוא׃
Mat 13:45 עוד דומה מלכות השמים לאיש סחר המבקש מרגליות טבות׃
Mat 13:46 וכאשר מצא מרגלית אחת יקרה מאד הלך וימכר את־כל־אשר־לו ויקן אתה׃
Mat 13:47 עוד דומה מלכות השמים למכמרת אשר השלכה לים ומינים שונים יאספו לתוכה׃
Mat 13:48 וכאשר נמלאה העלו אתה אל־שפת הים וישבו וילקטו את־המינים הטובים לתוך הכלים ואת הרעים השליכו׃
Mat 13:49 כן יהיה לקץ העולם המלאכים יצאו והבדילו את־הרשעים מתוך הצדיקים׃
Mat 13:50 והשליכום אל־תנור האש שם תהיה היללה וחרק השנים׃
Mat 13:51 ויאמר אליהם ישוע התבינו את־כל־אלה ויאמרו אליו הן אדנינו׃
Mat 13:52 ויאמר אליהם על־כן כל־סופר מלמד למלכות השמים דומה לאיש בעל־בית המוציא מאוצרו חדשות וגם ישנות׃
Mat 13:53 ויהי ככלות ישוע לדבר את־המשלים האלה ויעבר משם׃
Mat 13:54 ויבא אל־ארצו וילמד אתם בבית הכנסת שלהם וישתוממו ויאמרו מאין לזה החכמה הזאת והגבורות׃
Mat 13:55 הלא זה הוא בן־החרש הלא שם אמו מרים ואחיו יעקב ויוסי ושמעון ויהודה׃
Mat 13:56 ואחיותיו הלא כלן אתנו הן ומאין איפוא לו כל־אלה׃
Mat 13:57 ויהי להם למכשול ויאמר ישוע אליהם אין הנביא נקלה אם־לא בארצו ובביתו׃
Mat 13:58 ולא־עשה שם גבורות רבות מפני חסר אמונתם׃
Mat 14:1 בעת ההיא שמע הורדוס שר־רבע המדינה את שמע ישוע׃
Mat 14:2 ויאמר אל־נעריו זה הוא יוחנן המטביל אשר נעור מן־המתים על־כן הכחות פעלים בו׃
Mat 14:3 כי הורדוס תפש את־יוחנן ויאסרהו וישימהו בבית הסהר בגלל הורודיה אשת פילפוס אחיו׃
Mat 14:4 כי אמר יוחנן אליו אסורה היא לך׃
Mat 14:5 ויבקש להרגו ויירא את־ההמון כי לנביא חשבהו׃
Mat 14:6 ויהי ביום הלדת הורדוס ותרקד בת־הורודיה בתוכם ותיטב בעיני הורדוס׃
Mat 14:7 וישבע לה ויאמר מה־תשאל נפשך ואתן לך׃
Mat 14:8 ואמה שמה את־הדברים בפיה ותשאל לאמר תנה־לי פה בקערה את־ראש יוחנן המטביל׃
Mat 14:9 ויצר למלך אך בעבור השבועה והמסבים עמו צוה לתת לה׃
Mat 14:10 וישלח וישא את־ראש יוחנן מעליו בבית הסהר׃
Mat 14:11 ויביאו את־ראשו בקערה ויתנו בידי הנערה ותביאהו אל־אמה׃
Mat 14:12 ויגשו תלמידיו וישאו את־גויתו ויקברוה וילכו ויגידו לישוע׃
Mat 14:13 ויהי כשמעו את־זאת ויסר משם באניה אל־מקום חרבה ואין־איש אתו וישמעו המון העם וילכו אחריו ברגליהם מן־הערים׃
Mat 14:14 ויצא ישוע וירא המון עם־רב ויהמו מעיו להם וירפא את־החלשים אשר בהם׃
Mat 14:15 ויהי לעת ערב ויגשו אליו תלמידיו ויאמרו המקום חרב וגם־נטה היום שלחה את־המון העם וילכו אל־הכפרים לקנות להם אכל׃
Mat 14:16 ויאמר אליהם אינם צריכים ללכת תנו־אתם להם לאכל׃
Mat 14:17 ויאמרו אליו אין־לנו פה כי אם־חמשת ככרות־לחם ושני דגים׃
Mat 14:18 ויאמר הביאום אלי הנה׃
Mat 14:19 ויצו את־העם לשבת על־הדשא ויקח את־חמשת ככרות־הלחם ואת־שני הדגים וישא עיניו השמימה ויברך ויפרס ויתן את־הלחם לתלמידים והתלמידים נתנו לעם׃
Mat 14:20 ויאכלו כלם וישבעו וישאו מן־הפתותים הנותרים שנים עשר סלים מלאים׃
Mat 14:21 והאכלים כחמשת אלפים איש מלבד הנשים והטף׃
Mat 14:22 ויאץ ישוע בתלמידיו לרדת באניה לעבר לפניו אל־עבר הים עד אשר־ישלח את־העם׃
Mat 14:23 וישלח את־העם ויעל ההרה בדד להתפלל ויהי־ערב והוא לבדו שמה׃
Mat 14:24 והאניה באה עד חצי הים והגלים יטרפה כי הרוח לנגדה׃
Mat 14:25 ויהי באשמרת הרביעית ויבא אליהם ישוע והוא מהלך על־פני הים׃
Mat 14:26 והתלמידים ראו אותו מהלך על־פני הים ויבהלו ויאמרו מראה־רוח הוא ויצעקו מפחד׃
Mat 14:27 וימהר ישוע וידבר אליהם לאמר חזקו כי־אני הוא אל־תיראו׃
Mat 14:28 ויען פטרוס ויאמר אליו אם־אתה הוא אדני צוה־נא ואבא אליך על־המים׃
Mat 14:29 ויאמר בוא וירד פטרוס מן־האניה ויהלך על־פני המים לבוא אל־ישוע׃
Mat 14:30 ויהי כראתו את־הרוח כי חזקה היא ויירא ויחל לטבע ויצעק ויאמר אדני הושיעני׃
Mat 14:31 וימהר ישוע וישלח את־ידו ויחזק־בו ויאמר אליו קטן אמונה מה־לך כי חלק לבך׃
Mat 14:32 הם עלו אל־האניה והרוח שככה׃
Mat 14:33 ואנשי האניה נגשו וישתחוו־לו ויאמרו אבל בן־אלהים אתה׃
Mat 14:34 ויעברו את־הים ויבאו ארצה גניסר׃
Mat 14:35 ויכירו אתו אנשי המקום ההוא וישלחו אל־כל־סביבותיהם ויביאו אליו את כל־החולים׃
Mat 14:36 ויבקשו ממנו רק לנגע בכנף בגדו וכל־הנגעים נושעו׃

Mat 13:1 And on that day יהושע went out of the house and sat by the sea.
Mat 13:2 And large crowds were gathered together to Him, so that He went into a boat and sat down. And all the crowd stood on the beach.
Mat 13:3 And He spoke to them much in parables, saying, “See, the sower went out to sow.
Mat 13:4 “And as he sowed, some indeed fell by the wayside, and the birds came and devoured them.
Mat 13:5 “And others fell on rocky places, where they did not have much soil, and immediately they sprang up, because they had no depth of soil.
Mat 13:6 “But when the sun was up they were scorched, and because they had no root they withered.
Mat 13:7 “And others fell among thorns, and the thorns came up and choked them.
Mat 13:8 “And others fell on good soil and yielded a crop, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.
Mat 13:9 “He who has ears to hear, let him hear!”
Mat 13:10 And the talmidim came and said to Him, “Why do You speak to them in parables?”
Mat 13:11 And He answering, said to them, “Because it has been given to you to know the secrets of the reign of the heavens, but to them it has not been given.
Mat 13:12 “For whoever possesses, to him more shall be given, and he shall have overflowingly; but whoever does not possess, even what he possesses shall be taken away from him.
Mat 13:13 “Because of this I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand.
Mat 13:14 “And in them the prophecy of Yesha’Yahu is completely filled, which says, ‘Hearing you shall hear and by no means understand, and seeing you shall see and by no means perceive,
Mat 13:15 for the heart of this people has become thickened, and their ears are hard of hearing, and their eyes they have closed, lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, lest they should understand with their heart, and turn back, and I heal them.’
Mat 13:16 “And blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear,
Mat 13:17 for truly I say to you, that many Nevi’im and Tzadikim longed to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it.
Mat 13:18 “You, then, hear the parable of the sower:
Mat 13:19 “When anyone hears the word of the reign, and does not understand it, then the wicked one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is that sown by the wayside.
Mat 13:20 “And that sown on rocky places, this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy,
Mat 13:21 yet he has no root in himself, but is short-lived, and when pressure or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles.
Mat 13:22 “And that sown among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the worry of this age and the deceit of riches choke the word, and it becomes fruitless.1 Footnote: 1Lk. 21:34, 2 Tim. 3:4.
Mat 13:23 “And that sown on the good soil is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and yields – some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.”
Mat 13:24 Another parable He put before them, saying, “The reign of the heavens has become like a man who sowed good seed in his field,
Mat 13:25 but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed darnel among the wheat and went away.
Mat 13:26 “And when the blade sprouted and bore fruit, then the darnel also appeared.
Mat 13:27 “And the servants of the master of the house came and said to him, ‘Master, did you not sow good seed in your field? From where then does it have the darnel?’
Mat 13:28 “And he said to them, ‘A man, an enemy did this.’ And the servants said to him, ‘Do you wish then, that we go and gather them up?’
Mat 13:29 “But he said, ‘No, lest while you gather up the darnel you also uproot the wheat with them.
Mat 13:30 ‘Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I shall say to the reapers, “First gather the darnel and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my granary.” ’ ”
Mat 13:31 Another parable He put before them, saying, “The reign of the heavens is like a mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his field,
Mat 13:32 which indeed is less than all the seeds, but when it is grown it is greater than the plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the heaven come and dwell in its branches.”
Mat 13:33 Another parable He spoke to them, “The reign of the heavens is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal until all was leavened.”
Mat 13:34 יהושע said all this to the crowds in parables, and He did not speak to them without a parable,
Mat 13:35 so that what was spoken by the prophet might be filled, saying, “I shall open My mouth in parables, I shall pour forth what has been hidden from the foundation of the world.”
Mat 13:36 Then, having sent the crowds away, יהושע went into the house. And His talmidim came to Him, saying, “Explain to us the parable of the darnel of the field.”
Mat 13:37 And He answering, said to them, “He who is sowing the good seed is the Son of Aḏam,
Mat 13:38 and the field is the world. And the good seed, these are the sons of the reign, but the darnel are the sons of the wicked one,
Mat 13:39 and the enemy who sowed them is the devil. And the harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are the messengers.
Mat 13:40 “As the darnel, then, is gathered and burned in the fire, so it shall be at the end of this age.
Mat 13:41 “The Son of Aḏam shall send out His messengers, and they shall gather out of His reign all the stumbling-blocks, and those doing Torahlessness,
Mat 13:42 and shall throw them into the furnace of fire – there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
Mat 13:43 “Then the Tzadikim1 shall shine forth as the sun in the reign of their Father. He who has ears to hear, let him hear! Footnote: 1Ps. 37:29, Ps. 72:7, Ps. 75:10, Ps. 118:19-20, Ps. 146:8, Mal. 3:18, Rev. 22:11.
Mat 13:44 “Again, the reign of the heavens is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man having found it, hid, and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.
Mat 13:45 “Again, the reign of the heavens is like a man, a merchant, seeking fine pearls,
Mat 13:46 who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it.
Mat 13:47 “Again, the reign of the heavens is like a dragnet that was thrown into the sea and gathered some of every kind,
Mat 13:48 which, when it was filled, they drew to shore. And they sat down and gathered the good into containers, but threw the rotten away.
Mat 13:49 “Thus shall it be at the end of the age: the messengers shall come forth, and separate the wicked out of the midst of the Tzadikim,
Mat 13:50 and shall throw them into the furnace of fire – there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.”
Mat 13:51 יהושע said to them, “Have you understood all this?” They said to Him, “Yea, Master.”
Mat 13:52 And He said to them, “Therefore every scholar of Scripture taught in the reign of the heavens is like a householder who brings out of his treasure matters, renewed, and old.”1 Footnote: 1Old truths contained in the Scriptures, since the beginning.
Mat 13:53 And it came to be, when יהושע had ended these parables, that He left there.
Mat 13:54 And when He had come to His own country, He taught them in their congregation, so that they were astonished and said, “Where did this One get this wisdom and miracles?
Mat 13:55 “Is this not the son of the carpenter? Is not His mother called Miryam? And His brothers Ya`akov̱ and Yosĕph and Shimʽon and Yehuḏah?
Mat 13:56 “And His sisters, are they not all with us? Where then did this One get all this?”
Mat 13:57 And they stumbled at Him. But יהושע said to them, “A prophet is not unappreciated except in his own country and in his own house.”
Mat 13:58 And He did not do many miracles there because of their unbelief.
Mat 14:1 At that time Herodes the district ruler heard the report about יהושע,
Mat 14:2 and said to his servants, “This is Yochanan the Immerser. He has risen from the dead, and that is why these mighty powers are at work in him.”
Mat 14:3 For Herodes had arrested Yochanan, bound him and put him in prison because of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife,
Mat 14:4 for Yochanan had said to him, “It is not right for you to have her.”
Mat 14:5 And wishing to kill him, he feared the crowd, because they held him as a Navi.
Mat 14:6 But as Herodes’ birthday was being held, the daughter of Herodias danced before them and pleased Herodes,
Mat 14:7 so he promised with an oath to give her whatever she asked.
Mat 14:8 And she, being urged on by her mother, said, “Give me here the head of Yochanan the Immerser on a dish.”
Mat 14:9 And the sovereign was sad, but because of the oaths and the guests he commanded it to be given,
Mat 14:10 and sent and beheaded Yochanan in prison.
Mat 14:11 And his head was brought on a dish and given to the girl, and she brought it to her mother.
Mat 14:12 And his talmidim came and took away the body and buried it, and went and reported to יהושע.
Mat 14:13 Now when יהושע heard it, He withdrew from there by boat to a deserted place, by Himself. And when the crowds heard it, they followed Him on foot from the cities.
Mat 14:14 And when יהושע came out, He saw a large crowd and was moved with compassion for them, and healed their sick.
Mat 14:15 And when evening came, His talmidim came to Him, saying, “This is a deserted place, and the hour is already late. Dismiss the crowds, so that they might go into the villages and buy food for themselves.”
Mat 14:16 But יהושע said to them, “They do not need to go away, give them to eat yourselves.”
Mat 14:17 And they said to Him, “We have here only five loaves and two fish.”
Mat 14:18 And He said, “Bring them here to Me.”
Mat 14:19 And commanding the crowds to sit down on the grass, and taking the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to the heaven, He blessed and broke and gave the loaves to the taught ones. And the taught ones gave to the crowds,
Mat 14:20 and all ate and were satisfied. And they picked up the pieces left over – twelve baskets, filled.
Mat 14:21 And those who ate were about five thousand men, besides women and children.
Mat 14:22 And immediately יהושע made His taught ones enter into the boat and go before Him to the other side, while He dismissed the crowds.
Mat 14:23 And having dismissed the crowds, He went up to the mountain by Himself to pray. And when evening had come, He was alone there.
Mat 14:24 But the boat was now in the middle of the sea, agitated by the waves, for the wind was against it.
Mat 14:25 And in the fourth watch of the night יהושע went to them, walking on the sea.
Mat 14:26 And when the talmidim saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, “It is a phantom!” And from fear they cried.
Mat 14:27 But immediately יהושע spoke to them, saying, “Take courage, it is I, do not be afraid.”
Mat 14:28 And Kĕpha answered Him and said, “Master, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.”
Mat 14:29 And He said, “Come.” And when Kĕpha had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to יהושע.
Mat 14:30 But when he saw that the wind was strong, he was afraid. And beginning to sink, he cried out, saying, “Master, save me!”
Mat 14:31 And immediately יהושע stretched out His hand and took hold of him, and said to him, “O you of little belief, why did you doubt?”
Mat 14:32 And when they came into the boat, the wind ceased.
Mat 14:33 And those in the boat came and did bow to Him, saying, “Truly You are the Son of Elohim.”
Mat 14:34 And having passed over, they came to the land of Gennĕsar.
Mat 14:35 And when the men of that place recognized Him, they sent out into all that surrounding country, and brought to Him all who were sick,
Mat 14:36 and begged Him to let them only touch the tzitzit1 of His garment. And as many as touched it were completely healed. Footnote: 1See Explanatory notes - Tzitzit.

Mat 13:10 And the talmidim came and said to Him, “Why do You speak to them in parables?”
Mat 13:11 And He answering, said to them, “Because it has been given to you to know the secrets of the reign of the heavens, but to them it has not been given.
Mat 13:12 “For whoever possesses, to him more shall be given, and he shall have overflowingly; but whoever does not possess, even what he possesses shall be taken away from him.
Mat 13:13 “Because of this I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand.
Mat 13:14 “And in them the prophecy of Yesha’Yahu is completely filled, which says, ‘Hearing you shall hear and by no means understand, and seeing you shall see and by no means perceive,
Mat 13:15 for the heart of this people has become thickened, and their ears are hard of hearing, and their eyes they have closed, lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, lest they should understand with their heart, and turn back, and I heal them.’
Mat 13:16 “And blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear,
Mat 13:17 for truly I say to you, that many Nevi’im and Tzadikim longed to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it.
Mat 13:18 “You, then, hear the parable of the sower:
Mat 13:19 “When anyone hears the word of the reign, and does not understand it, then the wicked one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is that sown by the wayside.
Mat 13:20 “And that sown on rocky places, this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy,
Mat 13:21 yet he has no root in himself, but is short-lived, and when pressure or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles.
Mat 13:22 “And that sown among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the worry of this age and the deceit of riches choke the word, and it becomes fruitless.1 Footnote: 1Lk. 21:34, 2 Tim. 3:4.
Mat 13:23 “And that sown on the good soil is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and yields – some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.”
Mat 13:24 Another parable He put before them, saying, “The reign of the heavens has become like a man who sowed good seed in his field,
Mat 13:25 but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed darnel among the wheat and went away.
Mat 13:26 “And when the blade sprouted and bore fruit, then the darnel also appeared.
Mat 13:27 “And the servants of the master of the house came and said to him, ‘Master, did you not sow good seed in your field? From where then does it have the darnel?’
Mat 13:28 “And he said to them, ‘A man, an enemy did this.’ And the servants said to him, ‘Do you wish then, that we go and gather them up?’
Mat 13:29 “But he said, ‘No, lest while you gather up the darnel you also uproot the wheat with them.
Mat 13:30 ‘Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I shall say to the reapers, “First gather the darnel and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my granary.” ’ ”
Mat 13:31 Another parable He put before them, saying, “The reign of the heavens is like a mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his field,
Mat 13:32 which indeed is less than all the seeds, but when it is grown it is greater than the plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the heaven come and dwell in its branches.”
Mat 13:33 Another parable He spoke to them, “The reign of the heavens is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal until all was leavened.”
Mat 13:34 יהושע said all this to the crowds in parables, and He did not speak to them without a parable,
Mat 13:35 so that what was spoken by the prophet might be filled, saying, “I shall open My mouth in parables, I shall pour forth what has been hidden from the foundation of the world.”
Mat 13:36 Then, having sent the crowds away, יהושע went into the house. And His talmidim came to Him, saying, “Explain to us the parable of the darnel of the field.”
Mat 13:37 And He answering, said to them, “He who is sowing the good seed is the Son of Aḏam,
Mat 13:38 and the field is the world. And the good seed, these are the sons of the reign, but the darnel are the sons of the wicked one,
Mat 13:39 and the enemy who sowed them is the devil. And the harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are the messengers.
Mat 13:40 “As the darnel, then, is gathered and burned in the fire, so it shall be at the end of this age.
Mat 13:41 “The Son of Aḏam shall send out His messengers, and they shall gather out of His reign all the stumbling-blocks, and those doing Torahlessness,
Mat 13:42 and shall throw them into the furnace of fire – there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
Mat 13:43 “Then the Tzadikim1 shall shine forth as the sun in the reign of their Father. He who has ears to hear, let him hear! Footnote: 1Ps. 37:29, Ps. 72:7, Ps. 75:10, Ps. 118:19-20, Ps. 146:8, Mal. 3:18, Rev. 22:11.
Mat 13:44 “Again, the reign of the heavens is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man having found it, hid, and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.
Mat 13:45 “Again, the reign of the heavens is like a man, a merchant, seeking fine pearls,
Mat 13:46 who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it.
Mat 13:47 “Again, the reign of the heavens is like a dragnet that was thrown into the sea and gathered some of every kind,
Mat 13:48 which, when it was filled, they drew to shore. And they sat down and gathered the good into containers, but threw the rotten away.
Mat 13:49 “Thus shall it be at the end of the age: the messengers shall come forth, and separate the wicked out of the midst of the Tzadikim,
Mat 13:50 and shall throw them into the furnace of fire – there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.”
Mat 13:51 יהושע said to them, “Have you understood all this?” They said to Him, “Yea, Master.”
Mat 13:52 And He said to them, “Therefore every scholar of Scripture taught in the reign of the heavens is like a householder who brings out of his treasure matters, renewed, and old.”1 Footnote: 1Old truths contained in the Scriptures, since the beginning.
Mat 13:53 And it came to be, when יהושע had ended these parables, that He left there.
Mat 13:54 And when He had come to His own country, He taught them in their congregation, so that they were astonished and said, “Where did this One get this wisdom and miracles?
Mat 13:55 “Is this not the son of the carpenter? Is not His mother called Miryam? And His brothers Ya`akov̱ and Yosĕph and Shimʽon and Yehuḏah?
Mat 13:56 “And His sisters, are they not all with us? Where then did this One get all this?”
Mat 13:57 And they stumbled at Him. But יהושע said to them, “A prophet is not unappreciated except in his own country and in his own house.”
Mat 13:58 And He did not do many miracles there because of their unbelief.
Mat 14:1 At that time Herodes the district ruler heard the report about יהושע,
Mat 14:2 and said to his servants, “This is Yochanan the Immerser. He has risen from the dead, and that is why these mighty powers are at work in him.”
Mat 14:3 For Herodes had arrested Yochanan, bound him and put him in prison because of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife,
Mat 14:4 for Yochanan had said to him, “It is not right for you to have her.”
Mat 14:5 And wishing to kill him, he feared the crowd, because they held him as a Navi.
Mat 14:6 But as Herodes’ birthday was being held, the daughter of Herodias danced before them and pleased Herodes,
Mat 14:7 so he promised with an oath to give her whatever she asked.
Mat 14:8 And she, being urged on by her mother, said, “Give me here the head of Yochanan the Immerser on a dish.”
Mat 14:9 And the sovereign was sad, but because of the oaths and the guests he commanded it to be given,
Mat 14:10 and sent and beheaded Yochanan in prison.
Mat 14:11 And his head was brought on a dish and given to the girl, and she brought it to her mother.
Mat 14:12 And his talmidim came and took away the body and buried it, and went and reported to יהושע.
Mat 14:13 Now when יהושע heard it, He withdrew from there by boat to a deserted place, by Himself. And when the crowds heard it, they followed Him on foot from the cities.
Mat 14:14 And when יהושע came out, He saw a large crowd and was moved with compassion for them, and healed their sick.
Mat 14:15 And when evening came, His talmidim came to Him, saying, “This is a deserted place, and the hour is already late. Dismiss the crowds, so that they might go into the villages and buy food for themselves.”
Mat 14:16 But יהושע said to them, “They do not need to go away, give them to eat yourselves.”
Mat 14:17 And they said to Him, “We have here only five loaves and two fish.”
Mat 14:18 And He said, “Bring them here to Me.”
Mat 14:19 And commanding the crowds to sit down on the grass, and taking the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to the heaven, He blessed and broke and gave the loaves to the taught ones. And the taught ones gave to the crowds,
Mat 14:20 and all ate and were satisfied. And they picked up the pieces left over – twelve baskets, filled.
Mat 14:21 And those who ate were about five thousand men, besides women and children.
Mat 14:22 And immediately יהושע made His taught ones enter into the boat and go before Him to the other side, while He dismissed the crowds.
Mat 14:23 And having dismissed the crowds, He went up to the mountain by Himself to pray. And when evening had come, He was alone there.
Mat 14:24 But the boat was now in the middle of the sea, agitated by the waves, for the wind was against it.
Mat 14:25 And in the fourth watch of the night יהושע went to them, walking on the sea.
Mat 14:26 And when the talmidim saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, “It is a phantom!” And from fear they cried.
Mat 14:27 But immediately יהושע spoke to them, saying, “Take courage, it is I, do not be afraid.”
Mat 14:28 And Kĕpha answered Him and said, “Master, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.”
Mat 14:29 And He said, “Come.” And when Kĕpha had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to יהושע.
Mat 14:30 But when he saw that the wind was strong, he was afraid. And beginning to sink, he cried out, saying, “Master, save me!”
Mat 14:31 And immediately יהושע stretched out His hand and took hold of him, and said to him, “O you of little belief, why did you doubt?”
Mat 14:32 And when they came into the boat, the wind ceased.
Mat 14:33 And those in the boat came and did bow to Him, saying, “Truly You are the Son of Elohim.”
Mat 14:34 And having passed over, they came to the land of Gennĕsar.
Mat 14:35 And when the men of that place recognized Him, they sent out into all that surrounding country, and brought to Him all who were sick,

Mal 1:3 but I have hated Ěsaw, and have laid waste his mountains and his inheritance for the jackals of the wilderness.”
Mal 1:4 If Eḏom says, “We have been beaten down, let us return and build the ruins,” יהוה of hosts said thus: “Let them build, but I tear down. And they shall be called ‘Border of Wrongness’, and the people against whom יהוה is enraged forever.
Mal 1:5 And your eyes shall see, and you shall say, ‘Great is יהוה beyond the border of Yisra’ĕl!’
Mal 1:6 “A son esteems his father, and a servant his master. And if I am the Father, where is My esteem? And if I am a Master, where is My fear? said יהוה of hosts to you Kohanim who despise My Name. But you asked, ‘In what way have we despised Your Name?’
Mal 1:7 “You are presenting defiled food on My altar. But you asked, ‘In what way have we defiled You?’ Because you say, ‘The table of יהוה is despicable.’
Mal 1:8 “And when you present the blind as a slaughtering, is it not evil? And when you present the lame and sick, is it not evil? Bring it then to your governor! Would he be pleased with you? Would he accept you favorably?” said יהוה of hosts.
Mal 1:9 “And now, entreat the face of Ěl to show favor to us. This has been done by your hands. Would He show favor to you?” said יהוה of hosts.
Mal 1:10 “Who among you who would shut the doors, so that you would not kindle fire on My altar for naught? I have no pleasure in you,” said יהוה of hosts, “Nor do I accept an offering from your hands.
Mal 1:11 “For from the rising of the sun, even to its going down, My Name is great among nations. And in every place incense is presented to My Name, and a clean offering. For My Name is great among nations,” said יהוה of hosts.
Mal 1:12 “But you are profaning Me, in that you say, ‘The table of יהוה is defiled, and its fruit, its food, is despicable.’
Mal 1:13 “And you said, ‘Oh, what weariness!’ and you sneered at it,” said יהוה of hosts. “And you brought in plunder, and the lame, and the sick – thus you have brought in the offering! Should I accept this from your hand?” said יהוה.
Mal 1:14 “But cursed be the deceiver who has a male in his flock, and makes a vow, but is slaughtering to יהוה what is blemished. For I am a great Sovereign,” said יהוה of hosts, “and My Name is feared among nations.

B’reisheet 25:19 ואלה תולדת יצחק בן־אברהם אברהם הוליד את־יצחק׃
B’reisheet 25:20 ויהי יצחק בן־ארבעים שׁנה בקחתו את־רבקה בת־בתואל הארמי מפדן ארם אחות לבן הארמי לו לאשׁה׃
B’reisheet 25:21 ויעתר יצחק ליהוה לנכח אשׁתו כי עקרה הוא ויעתר לו יהוה ותהר רבקה אשׁתו׃
B’reisheet 25:22 ויתרצצו הבנים בקרבה ותאמר אם־כן למה זה אנכי ותלך לדרשׁ את־יהוה׃
B’reisheet 25:23 ויאמר יהוה לה שׁני גיים בבטנך ושׁני לאמים ממעיך יפרדו ולאם מלאם יאמץ ורב יעבד צעיר׃
B’reisheet 25:24 וימלאו ימיה ללדת והנה תומם בבטנה׃
B’reisheet 25:25 ויצא הראשׁון אדמוני כלו כאדרת שׂער ויקראו שׁמו עשׂו׃
B’reisheet 25:26 ואחרי־כן יצא אחיו וידו אחזת בעקב עשׂו ויקרא שׁמו יעקב ויצחק בן־שׁשׁים שׁנה בלדת אתם׃
B’reisheet 25:27 ויגדלו הנערים ויהי עשׂו אישׁ ידע ציד אישׁ שׂדה ויעקב אישׁ תם ישׁב אהלים׃
B’reisheet 25:28 ויאהב יצחק את־עשׂו כי־ציד בפיו ורבקה אהבת את־יעקב׃
B’reisheet 25:29 ויזד יעקב נזיד ויבא עשׂו מן־השׂדה והוא עיף׃
B’reisheet 25:30 ויאמר עשׂו אל־יעקב הלעיטני נא מן־האדם האדם הזה כי עיף אנכי על־כן קרא־שׁמו אדום׃
B’reisheet 25:31 ויאמר יעקב מכרה כיום את־בכרתך לי׃
B’reisheet 25:32 ויאמר עשׂו הנה אנכי הולך למות ולמה־זה לי בכרה׃
B’reisheet 25:33 ויאמר יעקב השׁבעה לי כיום וישׁבע לו וימכר את־בכרתו ליעקב׃
B’reisheet 25:34 ויעקב נתן לעשׂו לחם ונזיד עדשׁים ויאכל וישׁת ויקם וילך ויבז עשׂו את־הבכרה׃
B’reisheet 26:1 ויהי רעב בארץ מלבד הרעב הראשׁון אשׁר היה בימי אברהם וילך יצחק אל־אבימלך מלך־פלשׁתים גררה׃
B’reisheet 26:2 וירא אליו יהוה ויאמר אל־תרד מצרימה שׁכן בארץ אשׁר אמר אליך׃
B’reisheet 26:3 גור בארץ הזאת ואהיה עמך ואברכך כי־לך ולזרעך אתן את־כל־הארצת האל והקמתי את־השׁבעה אשׁר נשׁבעתי לאברהם אביך׃
B’reisheet 26:4 והרביתי את־זרעך ככוכבי השׁמים ונתתי לזרעך את כל־הארצת האל והתברכו בזרעך כל גויי הארץ׃
B’reisheet 26:5 עקב אשׁר־שׁמע אברהם בקלי וישׁמר משׁמרתי מצותי חקותי ותורתי׃
B’reisheet 26:6 וישׁב יצחק בגרר׃
B’reisheet 26:7 וישׁאלו אנשׁי המקום לאשׁתו ויאמר אחתי הוא כי ירא לאמר אשׁתי פן־יהרגני אנשׁי המקום על־רבקה כי־טובת מראה הוא׃
B’reisheet 26:8 ויהי כי ארכו־לו שׁם הימים וישׁקף אבימלך מלך פלשׁתים בעד החלון וירא והנה יצחק מצחק את רבקה אשׁתו׃
B’reisheet 26:9 ויקרא אבימלך ליצחק ויאמר אך הנה אשׁתך הוא ואיך אמרת אחתי הוא ויאמר אליו יצחק כי אמרתי פן־אמות עליה׃
B’reisheet 26:10 ויאמר אבימלך מה־זאת עשׂית לנו כמעט שׁכב אחד העם את־אשׁתך והבאת עלינו אשׁם׃
B’reisheet 26:11 ויצו אבימלך את־כל־העם לאמר הנגע באישׁ הזה ובאשׁתו מות יומת׃
B’reisheet 26:12 ויזרע יצחק בארץ ההוא וימצא בשׁנה ההוא מאה שׁערים ויברכהו יהוה׃
B’reisheet 26:13 ויגדל האישׁ וילך הלוך וגדל עד כי־גדל מאד׃
B’reisheet 26:14 ויהי־לו מקנה־צאן ומקנה בקר ועבדה רבה ויקנאו אתו פלשׁתים׃
B’reisheet 26:15 וכל־הבארת אשׁר חפרו עבדי אביו בימי אברהם אביו סתמום פלשׁתים וימלאום עפר׃
B’reisheet 26:16 ויאמר אבימלך אל־יצחק לך מעמנו כי־עצמת־ממנו מאד׃
B’reisheet 26:17 וילך משׁם יצחק ויחן בנחל־גרר וישׁב שׁם׃
B’reisheet 26:18 וישׁב יצחק ויחפר את־בארת המים אשׁר חפרו בימי אברהם אביו ויסתמום פלשׁתים אחרי מות אברהם ויקרא להן שׁמות כשׁמת אשׁר־קרא להן אביו׃
B’reisheet 26:19 ויחפרו עבדי־יצחק בנחל וימצאו־שׁם באר מים חיים׃
B’reisheet 26:20 ויריבו רעי גרר עם־רעי יצחק לאמר לנו המים ויקרא שׁם־הבאר עשׂק כי התעשׂקו עמו׃
B’reisheet 26:21 ויחפרו באר אחרת ויריבו גם־עליה ויקרא שׁמה שׂטנה׃
B’reisheet 26:22 ויעתק משׁם ויחפר באר אחרת ולא רבו עליה ויקרא שׁמה רחבות ויאמר כי־עתה הרחיב יהוה לנו ופרינו בארץ׃
B’reisheet 26:23 ויעל משׁם באר שׁבע׃
B’reisheet 26:24 וירא אליו יהוה בלילה ההוא ויאמר אנכי אלהי אברהם אביך אל־תירא כי־אתך אנכי וברכתיך והרביתי את־זרעך בעבור אברהם עבדי׃
B’reisheet 26:25 ויבן שׁם מזבח ויקרא בשׁם יהוה ויט־שׁם אהלו ויכרו־שׁם עבדי־יצחק באר׃
B’reisheet 26:26 ואבימלך הלך אליו מגרר ואחזת מרעהו ופיכל שׂר־צבאו׃
B’reisheet 26:27 ויאמר אלהם יצחק מדוע באתם אלי ואתם שׂנאתם אתי ותשׁלחוני מאתכם׃
B’reisheet 26:28 ויאמרו ראו ראינו כי־היה יהוה עמך ונאמר תהי נא אלה בינותינו בינינו ובינך ונכרתה ברית עמך׃
B’reisheet 26:29 אם־תעשׂה עמנו רעה כאשׁר לא נגענוך וכאשׁר עשׂינו עמך רק־טוב ונשׁלחך בשׁלום אתה עתה ברוך יהוה׃
B’reisheet 26:30 ויעשׂ להם משׁתה ויאכלו וישׁתו׃
B’reisheet 26:31 וישׁכימו בבקר וישׁבעו אישׁ לאחיו וישׁלחם יצחק וילכו מאתו בשׁלום׃
B’reisheet 26:32 ויהי ביום ההוא ויבאו עבדי יצחק ויגדו לו על־אדות הבאר אשׁר חפרו ויאמרו לו מצאנו מים׃
B’reisheet 26:33 ויקרא אתה שׁבעה על־כן שׁם־העיר באר שׁבע עד היום הזה׃
B’reisheet 26:34 ויהי עשׂו בן־ארבעים שׁנה ויקח אשׁה את־יהודית בת־בארי החתי ואת־בשׂמת בת־אילן החתי׃
B’reisheet 26:35 ותהיין מרת רוח ליצחק ולרבקה׃
B’reisheet 27:1 ויהי כי־זקן יצחק ותכהין עיניו מראת ויקרא את־עשׂו בנו הגדל ויאמר אליו בני ויאמר אליו הנני׃
B’reisheet 27:2 ויאמר הנה־נא זקנתי לא ידעתי יום מותי׃
B’reisheet 27:3 ועתה שׂא־נא כליך תליך וקשׁתך וצא השׂדה וצודה לי צידה׃
B’reisheet 27:4 ועשׂה־לי מטעמים כאשׁר אהבתי והביאה לי ואכלה בעבור תברכך נפשׁי בטרם אמות׃
B’reisheet 27:5 ורבקה שׁמעת בדבר יצחק אל־עשׂו בנו וילך עשׂו השׂדה לצוד ציד להביא׃
B’reisheet 27:6 ורבקה אמרה אל־יעקב בנה לאמר הנה שׁמעתי את־אביך מדבר אל־עשׂו אחיך לאמר׃
B’reisheet 27:7 הביאה לי ציד ועשׂה־לי מטעמים ואכלה ואברככה לפני יהוה לפני מותי׃
B’reisheet 27:8 ועתה בני שׁמע בקלי לאשׁר אני מצוה אתך׃
B’reisheet 27:9 לך־נא אל־הצאן וקח־לי משׁם שׁני גדיי עזים טבים ואעשׂה אתם מטעמים לאביך כאשׁר אהב׃
B’reisheet 27:10 והבאת לאביך ואכל בעבר אשׁר יברכך לפני מותו׃
B’reisheet 27:11 ויאמר יעקב אל־רבקה אמו הן עשׂו אחי אישׁ שׂער ואנכי אישׁ חלק׃
B’reisheet 27:12 אולי ימשׁני אבי והייתי בעיניו כמתעתע והבאתי עלי קללה ולא ברכה׃
B’reisheet 27:13 ותאמר לו אמו עלי קללתך בני אך שׁמע בקלי ולך קח־לי׃
B’reisheet 27:14 וילך ויקח ויבא לאמו ותעשׂ אמו מטעמים כאשׁר אהב אביו׃
B’reisheet 27:15 ותקח רבקה את־בגדי עשׂו בנה הגדל החמדת אשׁר אתה בבית ותלבשׁ את־יעקב בנה הקטן׃
B’reisheet 27:16 ואת ערת גדיי העזים הלבישׁה על־ידיו ועל חלקת צואריו׃
B’reisheet 27:17 ותתן את־המטעמים ואת־הלחם אשׁר עשׂתה ביד יעקב בנה׃
B’reisheet 27:18 ויבא אל־אביו ויאמר אבי ויאמר הנני מי אתה בני׃
B’reisheet 27:19 ויאמר יעקב אל־אביו אנכי עשׂו בכרך עשׂיתי כאשׁר דברת אלי קום־נא שׁבה ואכלה מצידי בעבור תברכני נפשׁך׃
B’reisheet 27:20 ויאמר יצחק אל־בנו מה־זה מהרת למצא בני ויאמר כי הקרה יהוה אלהיך לפני׃
B’reisheet 27:21 ויאמר יצחק אל־יעקב גשׁה־נא ואמשׁך בני האתה זה בני עשׂו אם־לא׃
B’reisheet 27:22 ויגשׁ יעקב אל־יצחק אביו וימשׁהו ויאמר הקל קול יעקב והידים ידי עשׂו׃
B’reisheet 27:23 ולא הכירו כי־היו ידיו כידי עשׂו אחיו שׂערת ויברכהו׃
B’reisheet 27:24 ויאמר אתה זה בני עשׂו ויאמר אני׃
B’reisheet 27:25 ויאמר הגשׁה לי ואכלה מציד בני למען תברכך נפשׁי ויגשׁ־לו ויאכל ויבא לו יין וישׁת׃
B’reisheet 27:26 ויאמר אליו יצחק אביו גשׁה־נא ושׁקה־לי בני׃
B’reisheet 27:27 ויגשׁ וישׁק־לו וירח את־ריח בגדיו ויברכהו ויאמר ראה ריח בני כריח שׂדה אשׁר ברכו יהוה׃
B’reisheet 27:28 ויתן־לך האלהים מטל השׁמים ומשׁמני הארץ ורב דגן ותירשׁ׃
B’reisheet 27:29 יעבדוך עמים וישׁתחו לך לאמים הוה גביר לאחיך וישׁתחוו לך בני אמך ארריך ארור ומברכיך ברוך׃
B’reisheet 27:30 ויהי כאשׁר כלה יצחק לברך את־יעקב ויהי אך יצא יצא יעקב מאת פני יצחק אביו ועשׂו אחיו בא מצידו׃
B’reisheet 27:31 ויעשׂ גם־הוא מטעמים ויבא לאביו ויאמר לאביו יקם אבי ויאכל מציד בנו בעבר תברכני נפשׁך׃
B’reisheet 27:32 ויאמר לו יצחק אביו מי־אתה ויאמר אני בנך בכרך עשׂו׃
B’reisheet 27:33 ויחרד יצחק חרדה גדלה עד־מאד ויאמר מי־אפוא הוא הצד־ציד ויבא לי ואכל מכל בטרם תבוא ואברכהו גם־ברוך יהיה׃
B’reisheet 27:34 כשׁמע עשׂו את־דברי אביו ויצעק צעקה גדלה ומרה עד־מאד ויאמר לאביו ברכני גם־אני אבי׃
B’reisheet 27:35 ויאמר בא אחיך במרמה ויקח ברכתך׃
B’reisheet 27:36 ויאמר הכי קרא שׁמו יעקב ויעקבני זה פעמים את־בכרתי לקח והנה עתה לקח ברכתי ויאמר הלא־אצלת לי ברכה׃
B’reisheet 27:37 ויען יצחק ויאמר לעשׂו הן גביר שׂמתיו לך ואת־כל־אחיו נתתי לו לעבדים ודגן ותירשׁ סמכתיו ולכה אפוא מה אעשׂה בני׃
B’reisheet 27:38 ויאמר עשׂו אל־אביו הברכה אחת הוא־לך אבי ברכני גם־אני אבי וישׂא עשׂו קלו ויבך׃
B’reisheet 27:39 ויען יצחק אביו ויאמר אליו הנה משׁמני הארץ יהיה מושׁבך ומטל השׁמים מעל׃
B’reisheet 27:40 ועל־חרבך תחיה ואת־אחיך תעבד והיה כאשׁר תריד ופרקת עלו מעל צוארך׃
B’reisheet 27:41 וישׂטם עשׂו את־יעקב על־הברכה אשׁר ברכו אביו ויאמר עשׂו בלבו יקרבו ימי אבל אבי ואהרגה את־יעקב אחי׃
B’reisheet 27:42 ויגד לרבקה את־דברי עשׂו בנה הגדל ותשׁלח ותקרא ליעקב בנה הקטן ותאמר אליו הנה עשׂו אחיך מתנחם לך להרגך׃
B’reisheet 27:43 ועתה בני שׁמע בקלי וקום ברח־לך אל־לבן אחי חרנה׃
B’reisheet 27:44 וישׁבת עמו ימים אחדים עד אשׁר־תשׁוב חמת אחיך׃
B’reisheet 27:45 עד־שׁוב אף־אחיך ממך ושׁכח את אשׁר־עשׂית לו ושׁלחתי ולקחתיך משׁם למה אשׁכל גם־שׁניכם יום אחד׃
B’reisheet 27:46 ותאמר רבקה אל־יצחק קצתי בחיי מפני בנות חת אם־לקח יעקב אשׁה מבנות־חת כאלה מבנות הארץ למה לי חיים׃
B’reisheet 28:1 ויקרא יצחק אל־יעקב ויברך אתו ויצוהו ויאמר לו לא־תקח אשׁה מבנות כנען׃
B’reisheet 28:2 קום לך פדנה ארם ביתה בתואל אבי אמך וקח־לך משׁם אשׁה מבנות לבן אחי אמך׃
B’reisheet 28:3 ואל שׁדי יברך אתך ויפרך וירבך והיית לקהל עמים׃
B’reisheet 28:4 ויתן־לך את־ברכת אברהם לך ולזרעך אתך לרשׁתך את־ארץ מגריך אשׁר־נתן אלהים לאברהם׃
B’reisheet 28:5 וישׁלח יצחק את־יעקב וילך פדנה ארם אל־לבן בן־בתואל הארמי אחי רבקה אם יעקב ועשׂו׃
B’reisheet 28:6 וירא עשׂו כי־ברך יצחק את־יעקב ושׁלח אתו פדנה ארם לקחת־לו משׁם אשׁה בברכו אתו ויצו עליו לאמר לא־תקח אשׁה מבנות כנען׃
B’reisheet 28:7 וישׁמע יעקב אל־אביו ואל־אמו וילך פדנה ארם׃
B’reisheet 28:8 וירא עשׂו כי רעות בנות כנען בעיני יצחק אביו׃
B’reisheet 28:9 וילך עשׂו אל־ישׁמעאל ויקח את־מחלת בת־ישׁמעאל בן־אברהם אחות נביות על־נשׁיו לו לאשׁה׃

B’reisheet 27:1 ויהי כי־זקן יצחק ותכהין עיניו מראת ויקרא את־עשׂו בנו הגדל ויאמר אליו בני ויאמר אליו הנני׃
B’reisheet 27:2 ויאמר הנה־נא זקנתי לא ידעתי יום מותי׃
B’reisheet 27:3 ועתה שׂא־נא כליך תליך וקשׁתך וצא השׂדה וצודה לי צידה׃
B’reisheet 27:4 ועשׂה־לי מטעמים כאשׁר אהבתי והביאה לי ואכלה בעבור תברכך נפשׁי בטרם אמות׃
B’reisheet 27:5 ורבקה שׁמעת בדבר יצחק אל־עשׂו בנו וילך עשׂו השׂדה לצוד ציד להביא׃
B’reisheet 27:6 ורבקה אמרה אל־יעקב בנה לאמר הנה שׁמעתי את־אביך מדבר אל־עשׂו אחיך לאמר׃
B’reisheet 27:7 הביאה לי ציד ועשׂה־לי מטעמים ואכלה ואברככה לפני יהוה לפני מותי׃
B’reisheet 27:8 ועתה בני שׁמע בקלי לאשׁר אני מצוה אתך׃
B’reisheet 27:9 לך־נא אל־הצאן וקח־לי משׁם שׁני גדיי עזים טבים ואעשׂה אתם מטעמים לאביך כאשׁר אהב׃
B’reisheet 27:10 והבאת לאביך ואכל בעבר אשׁר יברכך לפני מותו׃
B’reisheet 27:11 ויאמר יעקב אל־רבקה אמו הן עשׂו אחי אישׁ שׂער ואנכי אישׁ חלק׃
B’reisheet 27:12 אולי ימשׁני אבי והייתי בעיניו כמתעתע והבאתי עלי קללה ולא ברכה׃
B’reisheet 27:13 ותאמר לו אמו עלי קללתך בני אך שׁמע בקלי ולך קח־לי׃
B’reisheet 27:14 וילך ויקח ויבא לאמו ותעשׂ אמו מטעמים כאשׁר אהב אביו׃
B’reisheet 27:15 ותקח רבקה את־בגדי עשׂו בנה הגדל החמדת אשׁר אתה בבית ותלבשׁ את־יעקב בנה הקטן׃
B’reisheet 27:16 ואת ערת גדיי העזים הלבישׁה על־ידיו ועל חלקת צואריו׃
B’reisheet 27:17 ותתן את־המטעמים ואת־הלחם אשׁר עשׂתה ביד יעקב בנה׃
B’reisheet 27:18 ויבא אל־אביו ויאמר אבי ויאמר הנני מי אתה בני׃
B’reisheet 27:19 ויאמר יעקב אל־אביו אנכי עשׂו בכרך עשׂיתי כאשׁר דברת אלי קום־נא שׁבה ואכלה מצידי בעבור תברכני נפשׁך׃
B’reisheet 27:20 ויאמר יצחק אל־בנו מה־זה מהרת למצא בני ויאמר כי הקרה יהוה אלהיך לפני׃
B’reisheet 27:21 ויאמר יצחק אל־יעקב גשׁה־נא ואמשׁך בני האתה זה בני עשׂו אם־לא׃
B’reisheet 27:22 ויגשׁ יעקב אל־יצחק אביו וימשׁהו ויאמר הקל קול יעקב והידים ידי עשׂו׃
B’reisheet 27:23 ולא הכירו כי־היו ידיו כידי עשׂו אחיו שׂערת ויברכהו׃
B’reisheet 27:24 ויאמר אתה זה בני עשׂו ויאמר אני׃
B’reisheet 27:25 ויאמר הגשׁה לי ואכלה מציד בני למען תברכך נפשׁי ויגשׁ־לו ויאכל ויבא לו יין וישׁת׃

B’reisheet 27:27 ויגשׁ וישׁק־לו וירח את־ריח בגדיו ויברכהו ויאמר ראה ריח בני כריח שׂדה אשׁר ברכו יהוה׃
B’reisheet 27:28 ויתן־לך האלהים מטל השׁמים ומשׁמני הארץ ורב דגן ותירשׁ׃
B’reisheet 27:29 יעבדוך עמים וישׁתחו לך לאמים הוה גביר לאחיך וישׁתחוו לך בני אמך ארריך ארור ומברכיך ברוך׃
B’reisheet 27:30 ויהי כאשׁר כלה יצחק לברך את־יעקב ויהי אך יצא יצא יעקב מאת פני יצחק אביו ועשׂו אחיו בא מצידו׃
B’reisheet 27:31 ויעשׂ גם־הוא מטעמים ויבא לאביו ויאמר לאביו יקם אבי ויאכל מציד בנו בעבר תברכני נפשׁך׃
B’reisheet 27:32 ויאמר לו יצחק אביו מי־אתה ויאמר אני בנך בכרך עשׂו׃
B’reisheet 27:33 ויחרד יצחק חרדה גדלה עד־מאד ויאמר מי־אפוא הוא הצד־ציד ויבא לי ואכל מכל בטרם תבוא ואברכהו גם־ברוך יהיה׃
B’reisheet 27:34 כשׁמע עשׂו את־דברי אביו ויצעק צעקה גדלה ומרה עד־מאד ויאמר לאביו ברכני גם־אני אבי׃
B’reisheet 27:35 ויאמר בא אחיך במרמה ויקח ברכתך׃
B’reisheet 27:36 ויאמר הכי קרא שׁמו יעקב ויעקבני זה פעמים את־בכרתי לקח והנה עתה לקח ברכתי ויאמר הלא־אצלת לי ברכה׃
B’reisheet 27:37 ויען יצחק ויאמר לעשׂו הן גביר שׂמתיו לך ואת־כל־אחיו נתתי לו לעבדים ודגן ותירשׁ סמכתיו ולכה אפוא מה אעשׂה בני׃
B’reisheet 27:38 ויאמר עשׂו אל־אביו הברכה אחת הוא־לך אבי ברכני גם־אני אבי וישׂא עשׂו קלו ויבך׃

B'reisheet 25:19-28:9
B’reisheet 25:19 And this is the genealogy of Yitzchak, Avraham’s son. Avraham brought forth Yitzchak.
B’reisheet 25:20 And Yitzchak was forty years old when he took Rivkah as wife, the daughter of Bethu’ĕl the Aramean of Paddan Aram, the sister of Laḇan the Aramean.
B’reisheet 25:21 And Yitzchak prayed to יהוה for his wife, because she was barren. And יהוה answered his prayer, and Rivkah his wife conceived.
B’reisheet 25:22 And within her the children struggled together, and she said, “If all is right, why am I this way?” So she went to ask יהוה.
B’reisheet 25:23 And יהוה said to her, “Two nations are in your womb, and two peoples shall be separated from your body. And one people shall be stronger than the other, and the older serve the younger.”
B’reisheet 25:24 And when the days were filled for her to give birth, and see, twins were in her womb!
B’reisheet 25:25 And the first came out red all over, like a hairy garment, so they called his name Ěsaw.
B’reisheet 25:26 And afterward his brother came out, with his hand holding on to Ěsaw’s heel, so his name was called Ya`akov̱. And Yitzchak was sixty years old when she bore them.
B’reisheet 25:27 And the boys grew up. And Ěsaw became a man knowing how to hunt, a man of the field, while Ya`akov̱ was a complete man, dwelling in tents.
B’reisheet 25:28 And Yitzchak loved Ěsaw because he ate of his wild game, but Rivkah loved Ya`akov̱.
B’reisheet 25:29 And Ya`akov̱ cooked a stew, and Ěsaw came in from the field, and he was weary.
B’reisheet 25:30 And Ěsaw said to Ya`akov̱, “Please feed me with that same red stew, for I am weary.” That is why his name was called Eḏom.
B’reisheet 25:31 But Ya`akov̱ said, “Sell me your birthright today.”
B’reisheet 25:32 And Ěsaw said, “Look, I am going to die, so why should I have birthright?”
B’reisheet 25:33 Then Ya`akov̱ said, “Swear to me today.” And he swore to him, and sold his birthright to Ya`akov̱.
B’reisheet 25:34 Ya`akov̱ then gave Ěsaw bread and stew of lentils. And he ate and drank, and rose up and left. Thus Ěsaw despised his birthright.
B’reisheet 26:1 And there was a scarcity of food in the land, besides the first scarcity of food which was in the days of Avraham. And Yitzchak went to Aḇimeleḵ, sovereign of the Philistines, in Gerar.
B’reisheet 26:2 And יהוה appeared to him and said, “Do not go down to Mitsrayim, live in the land which I command you.
B’reisheet 26:3 “Sojourn in this land. And I shall be with you and bless you, for I give all these lands to you and your seed. And I shall establish the oath which I swore to Avraham your father.
B’reisheet 26:4 “And I shall increase your seed like the stars of the heavens, and I shall give all these lands to your seed. And in your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed,
B’reisheet 26:5 because Avraham obeyed My voice and guarded My Charge: My mitzvot, My laws, and My Torot1.” Footnote: 1Torot - plural of Torah, teaching
B’reisheet 26:6 And Yitzchak dwelt in Gerar.
B’reisheet 26:7 And when the men of the place asked about his wife, he said, “She is my sister.” For he was afraid to say, “She is my wife,” thinking, “lest the men of the place should kill me for Rivkah, because she is good-looking.”
B’reisheet 26:8 And it came to be, when he had been there a long time, that Aḇimeleḵ sovereign of the Philistines looked through a window, and he watched and saw Yitzchak playing with Rivkah his wife.
B’reisheet 26:9 So Aḇimeleḵ called Yitzchak and said, “See, truly she is your wife! So how could you say, ‘She is my sister’?” And Yitzchak said to him, “Because I said, ‘Lest I die on account of her.’ ”
B’reisheet 26:10 And Aḇimeleḵ said, “What is this you have done to us? One of the people had almost lain with your wife, and you would have brought guilt on us.”
B’reisheet 26:11 And Aḇimeleḵ commanded all his people, saying, “He who touches this man or his wife shall certainly be put to death.”
B’reisheet 26:12 And Yitzchak sowed in that land, and reaped in the same year a hundredfold, and יהוה blessed him.
B’reisheet 26:13 And the man grew great and went forward until he became very great.
B’reisheet 26:14 And he came to have possessions of flocks and possessions of herds and a great body of servants, and the Philistines envied him.
B’reisheet 26:15 And the Philistines had stopped up all the wells which his father’s servants had dug in the days of Avraham his father, and filled them with dirt.
B’reisheet 26:16 And Aḇimeleḵ said to Yitzchak, “Go away from us, for you are much mightier than we.”
B’reisheet 26:17 So Yitzchak went from there and pitched his tent in the wadi Gerar, and dwelt there.
B’reisheet 26:18 And Yitzchak dug again the wells of water which they had dug in the days of Avraham his father, for the Philistines had stopped them up after the death of Avraham. And he called them by the names which his father had called them.
B’reisheet 26:19 But when Yitzchak’s servants dug in the wadi and found a well of running water there,
B’reisheet 26:20 the herdsmen of Gerar strove with Yitzchak’s herdsmen, saying, “The water is ours.” And he called the name of the well Ěseq, because they strove with him.
B’reisheet 26:21 And they dug another well, and they strove over that one too, and he called its name Sitnah.
B’reisheet 26:22 And he moved from there and dug another well, and they did not strive over it. And he called its name Reḥoḇoth, and said, “For now יהוה has made room for us, and we shall bear fruit in the land.”
B’reisheet 26:23 And from there he went up to Be’ĕrsheḇa.
B’reisheet 26:24 And יהוה appeared to him the same night and said, “I am the Elohim of your father Avraham. Do not fear, for I am with you, and shall bless you and increase your seed for My servant Avraham’s sake.”
B’reisheet 26:25 And he built an altar there, and called on the Name of יהוה, and he pitched his tent there, and the servants of Yitzchak dug a well there.
B’reisheet 26:26 And Aḇimeleḵ came to him from Gerar, with Aḥuzzath, one of his friends, and Piḵol the commander of his army.
B’reisheet 26:27 And Yitzchak said to them, “Why have you come to me, seeing you have hated me and have sent me away from you?”
B’reisheet 26:28 But they said, “We have clearly seen that יהוה is with you. And we said, ‘Please, let there be an oath between us, between you and us. And let us make a covenant with you,
B’reisheet 26:29 that you do no evil to us, as we have not touched you, and as we have done only good toward you, and have sent you away in peace. You are now blessed by יהוה.’ ”
B’reisheet 26:30 And he made them a feast, and they ate and drank.
B’reisheet 26:31 And they rose early in the morning and swore an oath with one another. And Yitzchak let them go, and they departed from him in peace.
B’reisheet 26:32 And on the same day it came to be that the servants of Yitzchak came and informed him about the well which they had dug, and said to him, “We have found water.”
B’reisheet 26:33 So he called it Shiv`ah. Therefore the name of the city is Be’ĕrsheḇa to this day.
B’reisheet 26:34 And when Ěsaw was forty years old, he took as wives Yehuḏith the daughter of Be’ĕri the Hittite, and Basemath the daughter of Ělon the Hittite.
B’reisheet 26:35 And they were a bitterness of spirit to Yitzchak and Rivkah.
B’reisheet 27:1 And it came to be, when Yitzchak was old and his eyes were too dim to see, that he called Ěsaw his elder son and said to him, “My son.” And he answered him, “Here I am.”
B’reisheet 27:2 And he said, “See now, I am old, I do not know the day of my death.
B’reisheet 27:3 “Now then, please take your weapons, your quiver and your bow, and go out to the field and hunt wild game for me.
B’reisheet 27:4 “And make me a tasty dish, such as I love, and bring it to me to eat, in order that my being does bless you before I die.”
B’reisheet 27:5 And Rivkah heard when Yitzchak spoke to Ěsaw his son. And Ěsaw went to the field to hunt wild game and to bring it.
B’reisheet 27:6 And Rivkah spoke to Ya`akov̱ her son, saying, “See, I heard your father speak to Ěsaw your brother, saying,
B’reisheet 27:7 ‘Bring me wild game and make me a tasty dish to eat, and bless you in the presence of יהוה before my death.’
B’reisheet 27:8 “And now my son, listen to my voice according to what I command you.
B’reisheet 27:9 “Please go to the flock and bring me two choice young goats, and I make a tasty dish from them for your father, such as he loves.
B’reisheet 27:10 “And you shall take it to your father, and he shall eat it, so that he might bless you before his death.”
B’reisheet 27:11 And Ya`akov̱ said to Rivkah his mother, “See, Ěsaw my brother is a hairy man, and I am a smooth-skinned man.
B’reisheet 27:12 “What if my father touches me? Then I shall be like a deceiver in his eyes, and shall bring a curse on myself and not a blessing.”
B’reisheet 27:13 But his mother said to him, “Let your curse be on me, my son. Only obey my voice, and go, get them for me.”
B’reisheet 27:14 And he went and fetched them and brought them to his mother, and his mother made a tasty dish, such as his father loved.
B’reisheet 27:15 And Rivkah took the best garments of her elder son Ěsaw, which were with her in the house, and put them on Ya`akov̱ her younger son.
B’reisheet 27:16 And she put the skins of the young goats on his hands and on the smooth part of his neck.
B’reisheet 27:17 Then she gave the tasty dish and the bread, which she had prepared, into the hand of her son Ya`akov̱.
B’reisheet 27:18 And he went to his father and said, “My father.” And he said, “Here I am. Who are you, my son?”
B’reisheet 27:19 And Ya`akov̱ said to his father, “I am Ěsaw your first-born, I have done as you said to me. Please rise, sit and eat of my wild game, so that your being might bless me.”
B’reisheet 27:20 But Yitzchak said to his son, “How is it that you have found it so quickly, my son?” And he said, “Because יהוה your Elohim brought it to me.”
B’reisheet 27:21 Then Yitzchak said to Ya`akov̱, “Please come near, so that I feel you, my son, whether you truly are my son Ěsaw or not.”
B’reisheet 27:22 And Ya`akov̱ went near to Yitzchak his father, and he felt him and said, “The voice is the voice of Ya`akov̱, but the hands are the hands of Ěsaw.”
B’reisheet 27:23 And he did not recognize him, for his hands were hairy like his brother Ěsaw’s hands, and he blessed him.
B’reisheet 27:24 And he said, “Are you truly my son Ěsaw?” And he said, “I am.”
B’reisheet 27:25 And he said, “Bring it near to me, and let me eat of my son’s wild game, so that my being might bless you.” So he brought it near to him, and he ate. And he brought him wine, and he drank.
B’reisheet 27:26 And his father Yitzchak said to him, “Please come near and kiss me, my son.”
B’reisheet 27:27 And he came near and kissed him. And he smelled the smell of his garments, and blessed him and said, “See, the smell of my son is like the smell of a field which יהוה has blessed.
B’reisheet 27:28 And Elohim give you of the dew of the heavens, of the fatness of the earth, and plenty of grain and wine.
B’reisheet 27:29 Let peoples serve you, and nations bow down to you. Be master over your brothers, and let your mother’s sons bow down to you. Cursed be those cursing you, and blessed be those blessing you!”
B’reisheet 27:30 And it came to be, as soon as Yitzchak had finished blessing Ya`akov̱, and Ya`akov̱ had hardly left the presence of Yitzchak his father, that Ěsaw his brother came in from his hunting.
B’reisheet 27:31 And he too had made a tasty dish and brought it to his father, and said to his father, “Let my father rise and eat of his son’s wild game, so that your being might bless me.”
B’reisheet 27:32 And his father Yitzchak said to him, “Who are you?” And he said, “I am your son, your first-born, Ěsaw.”
B’reisheet 27:33 Then Yitzchak trembled exceedingly, and said, “Who was it then who hunted wild game and brought it to me? And I ate all of it before you came, and I have blessed him. Yea, he is blessed.”
B’reisheet 27:34 When Ěsaw heard the words of his father, he cried with an exceedingly great and bitter cry, and said to his father, “Bless me, me too, O my father!”
B’reisheet 27:35 And he said, “Your brother came with deceit and took your blessing.”
B’reisheet 27:36 And Ěsaw said, “Was his name, then, called Ya`akov̱? For he has caught me by the heel these two times. He took my birthright, and see, now he has taken my blessing!” And he said, “Have you not reserved a blessing for me?”
B’reisheet 27:37 Then Yitzchak answered and said to Ěsaw, “See, I have made him your master, and all his brothers I have given to him as servants. And I have sustained him with grain and wine. And what, then, shall I do for you, my son?”
B’reisheet 27:38 And Ěsaw said to his father, “Have you only one blessing, my father? Bless me, me too, O my father!” And Ěsaw lifted up his voice and wept.
B’reisheet 27:39 And Yitzchak his father answered and said to him, “See, your dwelling is of the fatness of the earth, and of the dew of the heavens from above.
B’reisheet 27:40 And by your sword you are to live, and serve your brother. And it shall be, when you grow restless, that you shall break his yoke from your neck.”
B’reisheet 27:41 And Ěsaw hated Ya`akov̱ because of the blessing with which his father blessed him, and Ěsaw said in his heart, “The days of mourning for my father draw near, then I am going to kill my brother Ya`akov̱.”
B’reisheet 27:42 And the words of Ěsaw her older son were reported to Rivkah, and she sent and called Ya`akov̱ her younger son, and said to him, “See, your brother Ěsaw comforts himself concerning you, to kill you.
B’reisheet 27:43 “And now, my son, listen to my voice, and rise, flee to my brother Laḇan in Ḥaran.
B’reisheet 27:44 “And stay with him a few days, until your brother’s wrath turns away,
B’reisheet 27:45 until your brother’s displeasure turns away from you, and he forgets what you have done to him. And I shall send and bring you from there. Why should I be bereaved of you both in one day?”
B’reisheet 27:46 And Rivkah said to Yitzchak, “I am disgusted with my life because of the daughters of Ḥĕth. If Ya`akov̱ takes a wife from the daughters of Ḥĕth, like these who are the daughters of the land, what is my life to me?”
B’reisheet 28:1 And Yitzchak called Ya`akov̱ and blessed him, and commanded him, and said to him, “Do not take a wife from the daughters of Kenaʽan.
B’reisheet 28:2 “Arise, go to Paddan Aram, to the house of Bethu’ĕl your mother’s father. And take a wife for yourself from there, from the daughters of Laḇan your mother’s brother.
B’reisheet 28:3 “And Ěl Shaddai bless you, and make you bear fruit and increase you, and you shall become an assembly of peoples,
B’reisheet 28:4 and give you the blessing of Avraham, to you and your seed with you, so that you inherit the land of your sojournings, which Elohim gave to Avraham.”
B’reisheet 28:5 So Yitzchak sent Ya`akov̱ away, and he went to Paddan Aram, to Laḇan son of Bethu’ĕl the Aramean, the brother of Rivkah, the mother of Ya`akov̱ and Ěsaw.
B’reisheet 28:6 And Ěsaw saw that Yitzchak had blessed Ya`akov̱ and sent him away to Paddan Aram to take himself a wife from there, and that as he blessed him he gave him a command, saying, “Do not take a wife from the daughters of Kenaʽan,”
B’reisheet 28:7 and that Ya`akov̱ had obeyed his father and his mother and had gone to Paddan Aram.
B’reisheet 28:8 So Ěsaw saw that the daughters of Kenaʽan did not please his father Yitzchak,
B’reisheet 28:9 and Ěsaw went to Yishmaʽĕl and took Maḥalath the daughter of Yishmaʽĕl, Avraham’s son, the sister of Neḇayoth, to be his wife, besides the wives he had.
B’reisheet 25:19 And this is the genealogy of Yitzchak, Avraham’s son. Avraham brought forth Yitzchak.
B’reisheet 25:20 And Yitzchak was forty years old when he took Rivkah as wife, the daughter of Bethu’ĕl the Aramean of Paddan Aram, the sister of Laḇan the Aramean.
B’reisheet 25:21 And Yitzchak prayed to יהוה for his wife, because she was barren. And יהוה answered his prayer, and Rivkah his wife conceived.
B’reisheet 25:22 And within her the children struggled together, and she said, “If all is right, why am I this way?” So she went to ask יהוה.
B’reisheet 25:23 And יהוה said to her, “Two nations are in your womb, and two peoples shall be separated from your body. And one people shall be stronger than the other, and the older serve the younger.”
B’reisheet 25:24 And when the days were filled for her to give birth, and see, twins were in her womb!
B’reisheet 25:25 And the first came out red all over, like a hairy garment, so they called his name Ěsaw.
B’reisheet 25:26 And afterward his brother came out, with his hand holding on to Ěsaw’s heel, so his name was called Ya`akov̱. And Yitzchak was sixty years old when she bore them.
B’reisheet 25:27 And the boys grew up. And Ěsaw became a man knowing how to hunt, a man of the field, while Ya`akov̱ was a complete man, dwelling in tents.
B’reisheet 25:28 And Yitzchak loved Ěsaw because he ate of his wild game, but Rivkah loved Ya`akov̱.
B’reisheet 25:29 And Ya`akov̱ cooked a stew, and Ěsaw came in from the field, and he was weary.
B’reisheet 25:30 And Ěsaw said to Ya`akov̱, “Please feed me with that same red stew, for I am weary.” That is why his name was called Eḏom.
B’reisheet 25:31 But Ya`akov̱ said, “Sell me your birthright today.”
B’reisheet 25:32 And Ěsaw said, “Look, I am going to die, so why should I have birthright?”
B’reisheet 25:33 Then Ya`akov̱ said, “Swear to me today.” And he swore to him, and sold his birthright to Ya`akov̱.
B’reisheet 25:34 Ya`akov̱ then gave Ěsaw bread and stew of lentils. And he ate and drank, and rose up and left. Thus Ěsaw despised his birthright.
B’reisheet 26:1 And there was a scarcity of food in the land, besides the first scarcity of food which was in the days of Avraham. And Yitzchak went to Aḇimeleḵ, sovereign of the Philistines, in Gerar.
B’reisheet 26:2 And יהוה appeared to him and said, “Do not go down to Mitsrayim, live in the land which I command you.
B’reisheet 26:3 “Sojourn in this land. And I shall be with you and bless you, for I give all these lands to you and your seed. And I shall establish the oath which I swore to Avraham your father.
B’reisheet 26:4 “And I shall increase your seed like the stars of the heavens, and I shall give all these lands to your seed. And in your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed,
B’reisheet 26:5 because Avraham obeyed My voice and guarded My Charge: My mitzvot, My laws, and My Torot1.” Footnote: 1Torot - plural of Torah, teaching
B’reisheet 26:6 And Yitzchak dwelt in Gerar.
B’reisheet 26:7 And when the men of the place asked about his wife, he said, “She is my sister.” For he was afraid to say, “She is my wife,” thinking, “lest the men of the place should kill me for Rivkah, because she is good-looking.”
B’reisheet 26:8 And it came to be, when he had been there a long time, that Aḇimeleḵ sovereign of the Philistines looked through a window, and he watched and saw Yitzchak playing with Rivkah his wife.
B’reisheet 26:9 So Aḇimeleḵ called Yitzchak and said, “See, truly she is your wife! So how could you say, ‘She is my sister’?” And Yitzchak said to him, “Because I said, ‘Lest I die on account of her.’ ”
B’reisheet 26:10 And Aḇimeleḵ said, “What is this you have done to us? One of the people had almost lain with your wife, and you would have brought guilt on us.”
B’reisheet 26:11 And Aḇimeleḵ commanded all his people, saying, “He who touches this man or his wife shall certainly be put to death.”
B’reisheet 26:12 And Yitzchak sowed in that land, and reaped in the same year a hundredfold, and יהוה blessed him.
B’reisheet 26:13 And the man grew great and went forward until he became very great.
B’reisheet 26:14 And he came to have possessions of flocks and possessions of herds and a great body of servants, and the Philistines envied him.
B’reisheet 26:15 And the Philistines had stopped up all the wells which his father’s servants had dug in the days of Avraham his father, and filled them with dirt.
B’reisheet 26:16 And Aḇimeleḵ said to Yitzchak, “Go away from us, for you are much mightier than we.”
B’reisheet 26:17 So Yitzchak went from there and pitched his tent in the wadi Gerar, and dwelt there.
B’reisheet 26:18 And Yitzchak dug again the wells of water which they had dug in the days of Avraham his father, for the Philistines had stopped them up after the death of Avraham. And he called them by the names which his father had called them.
B’reisheet 26:19 But when Yitzchak’s servants dug in the wadi and found a well of running water there,
B’reisheet 26:20 the herdsmen of Gerar strove with Yitzchak’s herdsmen, saying, “The water is ours.” And he called the name of the well Ěseq, because they strove with him.
B’reisheet 26:21 And they dug another well, and they strove over that one too, and he called its name Sitnah.
B’reisheet 26:22 And he moved from there and dug another well, and they did not strive over it. And he called its name Reḥoḇoth, and said, “For now יהוה has made room for us, and we shall bear fruit in the land.”
B’reisheet 26:23 And from there he went up to Be’ĕrsheḇa.
B’reisheet 26:24 And יהוה appeared to him the same night and said, “I am the Elohim of your father Avraham. Do not fear, for I am with you, and shall bless you and increase your seed for My servant Avraham’s sake.”
B’reisheet 26:25 And he built an altar there, and called on the Name of יהוה, and he pitched his tent there, and the servants of Yitzchak dug a well there.
B’reisheet 26:26 And Aḇimeleḵ came to him from Gerar, with Aḥuzzath, one of his friends, and Piḵol the commander of his army.
B’reisheet 26:27 And Yitzchak said to them, “Why have you come to me, seeing you have hated me and have sent me away from you?”
B’reisheet 26:28 But they said, “We have clearly seen that יהוה is with you. And we said, ‘Please, let there be an oath between us, between you and us. And let us make a covenant with you,
B’reisheet 26:29 that you do no evil to us, as we have not touched you, and as we have done only good toward you, and have sent you away in peace. You are now blessed by יהוה.’ ”
B’reisheet 26:30 And he made them a feast, and they ate and drank.
B’reisheet 26:31 And they rose early in the morning and swore an oath with one another. And Yitzchak let them go, and they departed from him in peace.
B’reisheet 26:32 And on the same day it came to be that the servants of Yitzchak came and informed him about the well which they had dug, and said to him, “We have found water.”
B’reisheet 26:33 So he called it Shiv`ah. Therefore the name of the city is Be’ĕrsheḇa to this day.
B’reisheet 26:34 And when Ěsaw was forty years old, he took as wives Yehuḏith the daughter of Be’ĕri the Hittite, and Basemath the daughter of Ělon the Hittite.
B’reisheet 26:35 And they were a bitterness of spirit to Yitzchak and Rivkah.
B’reisheet 27:1 And it came to be, when Yitzchak was old and his eyes were too dim to see, that he called Ěsaw his elder son and said to him, “My son.” And he answered him, “Here I am.”
B’reisheet 27:2 And he said, “See now, I am old, I do not know the day of my death.
B’reisheet 27:3 “Now then, please take your weapons, your quiver and your bow, and go out to the field and hunt wild game for me.
B’reisheet 27:4 “And make me a tasty dish, such as I love, and bring it to me to eat, in order that my being does bless you before I die.”
B’reisheet 27:5 And Rivkah heard when Yitzchak spoke to Ěsaw his son. And Ěsaw went to the field to hunt wild game and to bring it.
B’reisheet 27:6 And Rivkah spoke to Ya`akov̱ her son, saying, “See, I heard your father speak to Ěsaw your brother, saying,
B’reisheet 27:7 ‘Bring me wild game and make me a tasty dish to eat, and bless you in the presence of יהוה before my death.’
B’reisheet 27:8 “And now my son, listen to my voice according to what I command you.
B’reisheet 27:9 “Please go to the flock and bring me two choice young goats, and I make a tasty dish from them for your father, such as he loves.
B’reisheet 27:10 “And you shall take it to your father, and he shall eat it, so that he might bless you before his death.”
B’reisheet 27:11 And Ya`akov̱ said to Rivkah his mother, “See, Ěsaw my brother is a hairy man, and I am a smooth-skinned man.
B’reisheet 27:12 “What if my father touches me? Then I shall be like a deceiver in his eyes, and shall bring a curse on myself and not a blessing.”
B’reisheet 27:13 But his mother said to him, “Let your curse be on me, my son. Only obey my voice, and go, get them for me.”
B’reisheet 27:14 And he went and fetched them and brought them to his mother, and his mother made a tasty dish, such as his father loved.
B’reisheet 27:15 And Rivkah took the best garments of her elder son Ěsaw, which were with her in the house, and put them on Ya`akov̱ her younger son.
B’reisheet 27:16 And she put the skins of the young goats on his hands and on the smooth part of his neck.
B’reisheet 27:17 Then she gave the tasty dish and the bread, which she had prepared, into the hand of her son Ya`akov̱.
B’reisheet 27:18 And he went to his father and said, “My father.” And he said, “Here I am. Who are you, my son?”
B’reisheet 27:19 And Ya`akov̱ said to his father, “I am Ěsaw your first-born, I have done as you said to me. Please rise, sit and eat of my wild game, so that your being might bless me.”
B’reisheet 27:20 But Yitzchak said to his son, “How is it that you have found it so quickly, my son?” And he said, “Because יהוה your Elohim brought it to me.”
B’reisheet 27:21 Then Yitzchak said to Ya`akov̱, “Please come near, so that I feel you, my son, whether you truly are my son Ěsaw or not.”
B’reisheet 27:22 And Ya`akov̱ went near to Yitzchak his father, and he felt him and said, “The voice is the voice of Ya`akov̱, but the hands are the hands of Ěsaw.”
B’reisheet 27:23 And he did not recognize him, for his hands were hairy like his brother Ěsaw’s hands, and he blessed him.
B’reisheet 27:24 And he said, “Are you truly my son Ěsaw?” And he said, “I am.”
B’reisheet 27:25 And he said, “Bring it near to me, and let me eat of my son’s wild game, so that my being might bless you.” So he brought it near to him, and he ate. And he brought him wine, and he drank.
B’reisheet 27:26 And his father Yitzchak said to him, “Please come near and kiss me, my son.”
B’reisheet 27:27 And he came near and kissed him. And he smelled the smell of his garments, and blessed him and said, “See, the smell of my son is like the smell of a field which יהוה has blessed.
B’reisheet 27:28 And Elohim give you of the dew of the heavens, of the fatness of the earth, and plenty of grain and wine.
B’reisheet 27:29 Let peoples serve you, and nations bow down to you. Be master over your brothers, and let your mother’s sons bow down to you. Cursed be those cursing you, and blessed be those blessing you!”
B’reisheet 27:30 And it came to be, as soon as Yitzchak had finished blessing Ya`akov̱, and Ya`akov̱ had hardly left the presence of Yitzchak his father, that Ěsaw his brother came in from his hunting.
B’reisheet 27:31 And he too had made a tasty dish and brought it to his father, and said to his father, “Let my father rise and eat of his son’s wild game, so that your being might bless me.”
B’reisheet 27:32 And his father Yitzchak said to him, “Who are you?” And he said, “I am your son, your first-born, Ěsaw.”
B’reisheet 27:33 Then Yitzchak trembled exceedingly, and said, “Who was it then who hunted wild game and brought it to me? And I ate all of it before you came, and I have blessed him. Yea, he is blessed.”
B’reisheet 27:34 When Ěsaw heard the words of his father, he cried with an exceedingly great and bitter cry, and said to his father, “Bless me, me too, O my father!”
B’reisheet 27:35 And he said, “Your brother came with deceit and took your blessing.”
B’reisheet 27:36 And Ěsaw said, “Was his name, then, called Ya`akov̱? For he has caught me by the heel these two times. He took my birthright, and see, now he has taken my blessing!” And he said, “Have you not reserved a blessing for me?”
B’reisheet 27:37 Then Yitzchak answered and said to Ěsaw, “See, I have made him your master, and all his brothers I have given to him as servants. And I have sustained him with grain and wine. And what, then, shall I do for you, my son?”
B’reisheet 27:38 And Ěsaw said to his father, “Have you only one blessing, my father? Bless me, me too, O my father!” And Ěsaw lifted up his voice and wept.
B’reisheet 27:39 And Yitzchak his father answered and said to him, “See, your dwelling is of the fatness of the earth, and of the dew of the heavens from above.
B’reisheet 27:40 And by your sword you are to live, and serve your brother. And it shall be, when you grow restless, that you shall break his yoke from your neck.”
B’reisheet 27:41 And Ěsaw hated Ya`akov̱ because of the blessing with which his father blessed him, and Ěsaw said in his heart, “The days of mourning for my father draw near, then I am going to kill my brother Ya`akov̱.”
B’reisheet 27:42 And the words of Ěsaw her older son were reported to Rivkah, and she sent and called Ya`akov̱ her younger son, and said to him, “See, your brother Ěsaw comforts himself concerning you, to kill you.
B’reisheet 27:43 “And now, my son, listen to my voice, and rise, flee to my brother Laḇan in Ḥaran.
B’reisheet 27:44 “And stay with him a few days, until your brother’s wrath turns away,
B’reisheet 27:45 until your brother’s displeasure turns away from you, and he forgets what you have done to him. And I shall send and bring you from there. Why should I be bereaved of you both in one day?”
B’reisheet 27:46 And Rivkah said to Yitzchak, “I am disgusted with my life because of the daughters of Ḥĕth. If Ya`akov̱ takes a wife from the daughters of Ḥĕth, like these who are the daughters of the land, what is my life to me?”
B’reisheet 28:1 And Yitzchak called Ya`akov̱ and blessed him, and commanded him, and said to him, “Do not take a wife from the daughters of Kenaʽan.
B’reisheet 28:2 “Arise, go to Paddan Aram, to the house of Bethu’ĕl your mother’s father. And take a wife for yourself from there, from the daughters of Laḇan your mother’s brother.
B’reisheet 28:3 “And Ěl Shaddai bless you, and make you bear fruit and increase you, and you shall become an assembly of peoples,
B’reisheet 28:4 and give you the blessing of Avraham, to you and your seed with you, so that you inherit the land of your sojournings, which Elohim gave to Avraham.”
B’reisheet 28:5 So Yitzchak sent Ya`akov̱ away, and he went to Paddan Aram, to Laḇan son of Bethu’ĕl the Aramean, the brother of Rivkah, the mother of Ya`akov̱ and Ěsaw.
B’reisheet 28:6 And Ěsaw saw that Yitzchak had blessed Ya`akov̱ and sent him away to Paddan Aram to take himself a wife from there, and that as he blessed him he gave him a command, saying, “Do not take a wife from the daughters of Kenaʽan,”
